im sure at that time he just trying to get through without fuckin up. at this point its just muscle memory and he only has to open his eyes to find his pedalboard or occasionally give a sensual look to the nearest camera

Funny story, this one time when Tim showed his writing process, he writes it on a midi keyboard connected to his PC then figures out how to play it on his guitar once he's satisfied.

This band has single handedly restored my faith in Rock'n'Roll as a worthwhile musical form. Let's hope they inspire a million young musicians to be similarly creative.

I mean, imagine trying to remember every song note for note, and I know he plays certain parts in some songs differently than they were recorded to make them a little easier.
Just a stamina thing most likely, you try playing these songs for 30mins and not bend flat or pause for a line or two. The part that bothered me was always how he handled the bends in nicks solo. Somethings off when he learned that one

I was considering watching this live today but can’t justify $75 since I’m broke right now. I also am less of a “polyphia fan” so much as a Tim fan. I hate to say that because his band mates work so hard but I wish Tim was a soloist.

Amazing skill but….
They don't have much stage presence, and when any of them steps up to talk into that mic, it just comes across like a brony convention! I love their music, but they need to develop their stagecraft as much as they've developed their musical chops.
Tool is more entertaining tho.

Well there songs are extremely hard to play especially after drinking and having all the adrenaline. I honestly thought they played amazingly for an instrumental, technical band.

@@xborg3236 Have you played any of their songs? You're back and forth across the fretboard at such high speeds and hitting so many harmonics that it's really hard to play perfectly. It's disingenuous to compare with other guitarists who aren't playing parts that require as much precision.
@@mitchell10394 forget about about other guitarists, Scott's parts are harder in most of their songs and he rarely makes mistakes .
@@xborg3236 Scottie's parts are difficult but way more consistent than Tim's parts, Tim's parts get awkward to play since he makes them way harder than they need to be. So yeah tim makes way more mistakes
Since Tim likes to compare himself to the greats that he’s better than, Polyphia is for sure not Pink Floyd, he’s more like a punk Paco de Lucia…maybe, that’s generous

Agreed, Henson (and others of that style) is the start of a new chapter in the electric guitar's history. Notice also how the audience actually stands and watches/listens as opposed to leaping about like a bunch of idiots. Reminds me of the days of Hendrix and early Zeppelin gigs where the crowd actually took notice of the artist.

Just because they have multiple melodies in one song or because they play fast doesn't mean there is no melody, most their music, especially the latest stuff is very melodic. The fact that I can sing (out of tune but still) most of their riffs is pretty much evidence of that
They're more melodic and creative players than anything. Their technicality is actually just a plus.

Very boring after a while. Every song sounds the same . They need to vary tempo. And they need a singer.
Agreed. Dont get me wrong - they are amazing musicians who are redefining their instruments. (I applaud them for that) But "trap" beats in general are very repetitious. A actual singer on atleast a couple of songs would make it more interesting. Still very cool though.
