  • We joined up with Mike Carr of ACI Boats to check out a custom 32' Bristol Bay gillnetter that just came off their production line. This limit gillnetter would be considered a luxury-liner in the Bristol Bay sockeye fishery. The season is short, the days are long, and this boat is packed with features to deliver the highest quality sockeye salmon to the market while keeping the crew comfortable.

    Cool boat. I'm not a fisherman and have no use for it, but I can appreciate it's built well for purpose. I could see myself cruising around here on Sydney Harbour with some beers and a seafood lunch...

    I love the forward pilot house. Would be interesting to see this platform built for recreational activity, i.e. Great Loop performance and comfort.

    I don't know why but for some reason i'd love to see that 32'x16'6'' Sternpicker with a "live-aboard" long range cruiser option. getting rid half the extending the cabin over the wet wells. having a pass through the below decks straight to the engine room, giving you the ladder access, as well as pass through access under the deck...
    extended range fuel tanks, grey water, fresh, and dark water tanks, reverse osmosis systems. most docks charge by length so the 36' length doesn't put it in the "long boat" most marines run 0-15, 15-40, 40+ but 36'x16 gives much more living space below and above deck then a 36' x 8.

    Hey Rob, I really enjoyed this video. It was interesting to see the different technical systems on this boat. The raised pilothouse was also great. I could imagine seeing something similar on an ACI cat for a larger bunk/sleeping area. Very cool indeed!

      No doubt Duncan and thank you as always! We’re starting to see more and more lookup windows in sport boats also. And the keel coolers were a new thing for me. Those Bristol Bay fisherman have it down.

    Imhabe an idea for this boat and if you market it like this, please give me a little consulting fee. Divorced dad in disability with 4 kids. But anyways..If you could convert those fish holds into just regular coolers and you swapped out the hydraulic drum for a crane, you could use one of these as a provisioning vessel for yachts in the Bahamas and then also (ifmyou dressed it up some) use it as a day boat, fishing boat and even a toy carrier to transport jet skis, kayaks, canoes, etc. The issue in a lot of the Bahamas islands is that big cargo ships bring in the food and if you haven't gotten what you need from the provisioning company, you have to place an order an have it flown to the nearest island with an airport and then retrieved. Expensive and time consuming. WIth this, you could shop in the states, load the boat up with everything you need, keep it cool and then take it to the yacht. The crane could be used to hoist supplies on the deck but also to get supplies from the holding compartment. Then when not use as a provisioning craft, it's those other things. Would have to be towed unless you had an aft open deck. Just saying that's another idea for this boat.

      Right on Clif I love it. The crew at ACI can build ANYTHING. They could trick out a boat just like that. But we’ll need to go the Bahamas first, for like a week or three, to scope out the scene there 😎😁

      On a bristol bay salmon boat bunks are of necessity small you are limited to 32 feet length and there isn't room for comfort,your awake and 12 hours at a time fishing, delivering fish and working the gear the other 12 hours, so sleep and bunks aren't used

    ""6- center-horsepower" ? "Keel cooler" you are referring to parts that people don't have any idea what you are talking about.

    • @cedley1969
      @cedley1969 2 месяца назад

      A keel cooler uses the hull of the boat as a heat exchanger to allow automotive coolant to be used instead of raw sea water which as stated can contain sand and gravel, it's also more corrosive.

      I don't think so.
      It's a commercial boat with the capacity for almost ten tons of fish. It'll be calm as you can imagine.
      Bringing home 19,000lb of fish in a tough, repairable, comfortable, boat sounds like heaven to me
