    I hsve zen pinball 2 on my 32inch asus monitor with some 40 tables unlocked. Maybe my favourite game for whatever reason.
    This is genius though and would love this in my garage. The fact you swap to so many different tables at the flick of a button and almost flawless when compared to real life game play...Its a dream entertainment unit of all units. Lucky guy. Wish i knew how to build one

      Technically Its just a PC with 3 monitors in a fancy box and you could do it on your 32" monitor alone. You could dissect a used keyboard and connect arcade buttons to it or get a cheap arcade encoder for a few dollars and make a small box with side buttons as a controller. Check craigslist you can get HDTV's and monitors for cheap and even find broken pinball machine you can gut and put screens inside that. Or just do a tabletop pinball build not full size. I love the full size and feel but tabletop would be equally as fun.

    What are the dimensions of the 46” TV? I’m in the process of building one the cab is a gutted 1975 Gottlieb dragon I got a 40” TV for the play field but I have extra space on top and bottom

    It would be cool if the game gave haptic feedback. I guess a crude way could use a base speaker and audio filter.

    So the 46" play field fits into the cabinet snugly or is there still more room?

    Do you have the plans?

    • @michaelmitchell6127
      @michaelmitchell6127  5 лет назад +1

      No plans. Its completely custom essentially built a box around the TV and just made it up as I went along. The regular method that some do is gut a cabinet and see how big of a screen they can fit. I went the opposite direction took a screen and custom made the cabinet around it.

      I would say check out virtuapin.net and www.vpforums.org then determine if you make your own, buy parts, or buy pre-built. I have seen some go on sale on craigs and ebay as well.

    I will be putting together my Arcade Cabinet soon. May not get it 100% right the first time but I have some interesting changes from the norm going into it. Trackball and Spinner because I have some unfinished business with Missile Command, Centipede, and Arkanoid. Then I have a joystick that changes via motor from 8way to 4way because it makes a big difference especially in games that are 4-way when two switches get activated at the same time because of 8 way joysticks. Finally Im going to attempt to rotate the monitor based upon the games original orientation. Some games the monitor should be vertical and some horizontal so that will be an interesting project. Hopefully I'll have more on this in the coming month. No light gun is currently planned but I cant say I wont add one for a little duck hunting or shooter games. This will be PC based as I would rather use a Raspberry Pi for consoles on the TV because the controls have to match to get the retro feel.

      Sorry for delays but I decided to boost this up a bit and add VR capability on the MAME cabinet since it will be in the TV area. Been waiting on a few parts. This will move my VR headset out of the office and into a larger space.

    Wow--I had no idea these existed until yesterday. I was looking to see if some of the classic pinball machines were made for vr but man, this would be better. If you don't mind--what was your total $$$ invested?

      Because I used parts like a previous computer, graphics cards, TV from bedroom, I saved in some areas but I would estimate I have about $1300 in this one. I estimate it would cost about $1600 to do it again with some updated components. Below is some estimate prices expect to spend $500 just on the cabinet hardware like legs, coin door, etc to make it authentic. This is overkill too. If you want to take it a step further add a Kinect and look up BAM Mod which Im considering adding when I do the reload to clean everything up. Aside from not being skinned because graphics can run around $330.00. I use a 15" monitor instead of a real DMD maybe Ill swap that out but thats something you can do for $15.00 vs $300. There are places to cut your budget but my wife insisted it must look authentic. I also prefer the retro look so bonus to me saving $300.00 on skinning. I would cut back on the sub woofer the next time around it messes with the nudge sense so I have to keep it low.

    Michael,
    Do you have plans for the cabinet? TIA.

    • @michaelmitchell6127
      @michaelmitchell6127  7 лет назад

      Sorry there are no plans I worked in reverse from the 46" TV that was in our bedroom and built the cabinet around that. Because of that I had to get the lockdown bar custom made from someone in the forums of one of the pinball sites but virtuapin.net also sells custom lockdown bars. There are several ways you can start one is get an existing pinball cabinet and gut it and determine the max size playfield you can fit in the cabinet (Widebody allows for the largest screen) or you can buy one from a site like virtuapin.net/ or you can do like me because my thought was I was going to upgrade the bedroom TV to a 4K so why not use the existing 1080p one. I have some more info on www.PinballCabinet.com which I need to update and I'm considering making custom sizes as I have a hobby CNC machine that I expanded that can handle it.

    • @peterb3221
      @peterb3221 7 лет назад

      Michael Mitchell what kind of machine and software do you use for cnc? I'm most interested in that. Many arcade cabinet designs are in vcarve format, and I'd love to get a reasonable cnc setup.

      @@peterb3221 Sorry just saw this but I have an X-Carve from Inventables but I modified mine to be 1800mm x 1000mm. If you order one and your handy you can skip a few parts like the MDF while its nice it will save you a lot on shipping as you can cut one down. Then print out the brackets I posted to install the waste board easier. For the most part I use a program called easel but since I want to carve 3d scenery into some doors Im looking at purchasing or using a trial version of some of the more expensive software. My modified machine can be found here - discuss.inventables.com/t/mitchells-wasteboard-modification-15-minute-wasteboard-replacement/39741 The community on Inventibles is wonderful.

    Is there a way for it to detect nudging?

    • @michaelmitchell6127
      @michaelmitchell6127  6 лет назад

      Yes VirtuaPin™ Digital Plunger Kit v3 I believe is a must have think of it as an all in one board for wiring up your machine. I have V2. In almost all the older ones its not set up for it and you have to add in some code to make it work. Same with the plunger some games dont know about the plunger and thats why I have the launch button. In the newer Virtual Pinball X I believe its a checkbox for nudging if you have a nudge sensor virtuapin.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=8

      Yes. That's the 46" TV from my bedroom in there gave me an excuse to get a 4k tv for the bedroom. You want a TV with a good refresh rate and a god viewing angle just stand to the side and watch fast motion if it looks good it will work.

    can we find all those tables on an ipad?

    • @michaelmitchell6127
      @michaelmitchell6127  8 лет назад

      Sorry I don't own an iPad. Tried to convince my kids on one but they opted for the iPod and iPhone instead. This software is specific to Windows OS. Building this was to have that experience like a real pinball machine. While it would be fun on an iPad I think some of the experience would be diminished for someone like myself that used to and whenever possible still plays actual cabinet machines.

      You can the name of the program is Visual Pinball 9 Desktop you will also want to check out Visual Pinball X. There is also Future Pinball and Pinball FX which I get from steam. Check out www.vpforums.org/ and their getting started and tutorial section. I highly recommend you contribute to the site there is video step by step installation. Mine is a cabinet build since your doing a laptop you want to follow instructions for desktop. I also have Pinball X which is the visual interface for accessing and displaying the various tables.

    how do u nudge on this?

    • @michaelmitchell6127
      @michaelmitchell6127  6 лет назад

      I have a VirtuaPin Digital Plunger Kit v2 - V3 is out (Two axis motion sensor provides real-time x and y coordinates (joystick X and Y) for realistic nudging.) If I recall you have to add a file and map a key and then calibrate it because even though you try your best to level the sensor it might be a touch off. www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=23576. In the newer version Visual Pinball X I believe its a check box. Last time I tried VPX it still had some bugs that Im waiting to be ironed out before I start loading them. Been a few months I just started thinking about reloading the machine from scratch to clean up a lot of the mess ive made over time loading items in pieces.
