They played on Everybody Hates Chris. When Orlando Jones was Chris substitute teacher and made Chris work harder than the other white students. That episode was so funny!
I mean, he didn't really come out fine right? This season and the last one has been him unpacking how his upbringing made him cut off all emotions and made connecting to other people extremely difficult for him. He's productive but not 'fine'
He has quirks like all the characters but there is nothing really wrong with the Gregory character. He went to college, works hard, likes kids, is a gentleman, can garden and respects his father. 🤷🏾♀
Orlando Jones also played Chris's substitute teacher, Mr. Newton, on Everybody Hates Chris. I always thought it was interesting how much he and Tyler James Williams looked alike back then too.
Well give a plotline having to do with dinosaurs or the history of it or scientific studies or even Neuroscience I'm pretty sure he could make an appearance lol
I love Barb! She reminds me of the "back-in-the-day" teachers from my first all-black elementary school in Alabama which was an all-black faculty...dress, speech, mannerisms and all!
A year later and the statement still stands. There is a level of work a casting director must do to mediate between an Actor/Actor's Team and those who wish to hire them. Even at this stage and level of work. I have a little knowledge on this outside of just being a viewer. I have been an actor on a television show on the ABC network as well as been up for a movie, Cast by Wendy, with real close consideration of getting the job. Like me and another actor, he ended up getting it. The film being Ben Affleck's "The Way Back". That woman KNOWS what she is doing. Even when I did not get the jobs I auditioned for, I knew that. They work hard to make sure the numbers are right and that everyone is happy with how the process leading up to the first day on set and beyond ensues. @@fewcusi
I LOVE this video WAAAAY too much. It's just too cute. Gregory feigning innocence. Barbara and Jacob changing from proud to outraged and shocked. Gregorys father playing the stern detective, while Gregory is secretly looking for his approval. The DRAMA. SO much in such a small scene. And I love how Abbot Elementary follows up on these insignificant seeming side stories😍
Don’t forget about the INGENIOUS camera work too!!! The perfect zoom ins and zoom outs to emphasize the hard-hitting, quick-witted SHADE being thrown by Gregory was awesome!!!
Shoutout to Orlando Jones for saying "Yeah why not? I'll film a little cameo on my phone for some TV show" and then it turned out to be a multiple Emmy award winning game changer.
For those who don't know, Orlando Jones played the strict substitute teacher who came to Chris's house and forced him to take a test on Everybody hates Chris. Pretty cool after all these years they get to work together again
I am so excited to watch the whole ep! I watch it each Thursday (which is my Friday) morning while getting ready to see my first client of the day. 💖 always a great kick off to my weekend!
Does anyone remember Orlando Jones in the substitute teacher episode of Everybody Hates Chris? Loved seeing him cast as Gregory's father all these years later
I love this show!!! So happy to see their critical and cultural success as a team. 💐🎊💐 Side note: I truly cannot WAIT to see @Tahir Moore show up at Abbott. 💪🏿🥃✊🏿 #WordingIsHard #SpellingIsHard #SquADDCast
EVERYBODY knows that's his daddy, lol. Even on 'Everybody Hates Chris', when he played the teacher, I was like, "There were some extra matters talked about during the parent teacher conference," lol.
Lol....I gotta start watching this show...it keeps getting rave reviews...and I'm so happy to see Orlando Jones playing Gregory's father because I have always thought they look so much alike that he could and should play his father in something with them together. 👍🥰
Loved how Gregory just let them list his work to each other (thinking the other was to be thanked) and slowly their coming to the realization that none of the success could be credited to either of them, rather all credit goes to Gregory ❤❤❤❤
it's so funny and great to see that something that could just have been a fun plot for an episode (Gregory helping anonymously with the garden) actually became a whole an important plot that serves character's development.
Whoever made the call to cast Orlando Jones as Gregory’s father…we thank you for your service🫡
quinta lol all day
Quinta probably wondered the same thing we all were back in the day 😂😂😂
@@sheismebysarahlee6208 facts, way back when he played the teacher on Everybody Hates Chris
Her name is Wendy OBrien and she is a GENIUS!!
I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT!! BRAVO!!
“Barbara, hit him one more time.” And she went for it with disdain. OMG, so funny! 😅😂
She was disgusted lol 😂
Lmao 😂 she definitely did…this scene kills me every time
1:26 And he should have hit back with: AGAIN ARE YOU DONE!? Lol
I nearly died!!
😂
The alliteration from Barb is just gold. Kudos to the writers and kudos to her delivery.
hidden hoeing and what not.
that last one was so good. like they were all good. but just the executionn of it! and honestly wouldnt have thought tightlipped and tilling erw
Barbara, hit him one more time 😂😂😂
This looks like a good watch😂
rightt lol
Nah because Gregory was brave with that "are you done" to Barbara from all people. For a moment he lost sight over what danger looks like
I promise you if his dad was standing right there he would not have the nerve to come at Barbara like that 😂
LMAO, I gasped!
😂😂😂
Her face 😂 I gasped
@halloweenallyearround4889 this
I LOVE Orlando and Tyler together as Father and son. They really look so muck alike.
It’s the greatest Twitter joke come to life!
They played on Everybody Hates Chris. When Orlando Jones was Chris substitute teacher and made Chris work harder than the other white students. That episode was so funny!
@@nancy40317Aw yeah. I forgot about that. Made him wear that B- shirt 😂😂
@@nancy40317 I gotta see that episode. I don't recall seeing it before
@Ben323 it because he played his teacher on Everybody hates Chris
gregory is a good example of the people that say “my parents beat me growing up and i came out fine”💀
Most of them did come out fine. The current generation got zero beatings and never learned there are consequences for what you say and do.
@Halloween All Year Round speak on it‼️‼️
I mean, he didn't really come out fine right? This season and the last one has been him unpacking how his upbringing made him cut off all emotions and made connecting to other people extremely difficult for him. He's productive but not 'fine'

“Why would you be tight-lipped about tilling?” 😂😂😂💀 I love Barbara!!
It was the 'hidden hoeing' for me 😆🤣😂
Yeah never watched this show... definitely going to watch after that delivery.
His face when he says Hmm?? kills me. Such a good actor
OMG! I was on the floor last night. It was too much, I'm still laughing.
@@ElJefeNLA same! It's incredible to see the show get funnier and better even when it started strong.
Yessss! My favorite part!
I like him in drum line better than this one
Name of this series please 😊
This is even funnier because he was Chris's substitute teacher on Everybody Hates Chris 😂😂
Now he’s his dad it’s perfect
Rochelle: you better get in there and take that test
B -
and I love how when Chris Rock made a guest star appearance on EHC his name was Mr. Abbott.
Talk about a full circle moment
He also came back later on Everybody Hates Chris to play a parody of the Huxtables.
Gregory getting excited to hear approval from his dad, is both funny and heart warming
Orlando Jones also played Chris's substitute teacher, Mr. Newton, on Everybody Hates Chris. I always thought it was interesting how much he and Tyler James Williams looked alike back then too.
Oh that’s why I sworn I seen him from somewhere 💀
And he swore he would get Chris the next time he saw him for putting him in the school where he got shot.
And he played the dad of a chic Chris was interested in and made cry. Did a whole Cosby impersonation and everything 🤣🤣
@@pe3zus I remember that. Great ep.

"Tight-lipped about tilling"
Damn, that is some premium-alliteration right there. This show is genius
This scene was perfect. The casting, script, the delivery, the SHADE.

That look Barb gave Gregory after he ask her if she’s done 😂😂😂😂.

OMG the casting. Now we just need Jeff Goldblum to play a random unexplainable white uncle.
Same face, different race
Exactly

Perfect father and son , I was waiting to see when they would do this ... Now we need Angela Bassett & Keke to link back up .

I know this ep came out after the Golden Globes aired, but I firmly believe that Gregory's "HM?????" is all he needed for to with that award
It's cool to see Orlando back on tv.. and playing his dad, which is a great choice.
As a gardener I approve of this scene lmaooo
