- Oww... I made a mess!.
Concrete counter weights were removed from outer drum unit, and a few other mods applied to keep it together long enough.
Machine was a Whirlpool made unit, donated by one of Dad's friends, who happens to be a fan of the channel and wanted to see it die again, it was a power surge victim with a leaky drum unit, so its not a waste to scrap it. new ones are about $400, so its not big deal.

Props to that machine for continuing to spin, my machine stops when the door isn’t shut all the way, this guy was a trooper, not stopping for anything.
The Motor is wired directly into the Mains, bypassing the Switch and all other Controls.
Dude above me got to it first.
I was going to say he probably bypassed a majority of components and used a variable autotransformer or rheostat to control it.

@@Sublimeshredder They connected the motor directly to a variable speed device, like a simple dimmer switch, bypassing all the electronics.
If you watch a "How to repair a washing machine" video you will see how well they are constructed in terms of not ripping apart. Pretty well constructed mashine.

Consider it has totally broke out of its casing. It still continues to go even to the point, where the belt broke off, the motor still runs. That is some heavy duty washer there. Surprise whirlpool didn't use this on their promotions.
They could make a 3-minute commercial out of it, and people would watch the ad over and over and over again, all the way through.

Tears of laughter. I especially love this because after having top-loader washers since 1959 in Australia, Canada and America, I moved to England where front-loaders are a religion. They still haven't caught up with 1959 Australia. I got stuck with a horrible front-loader here. One day, the cement ballast came loose and there was a racket and the door flew open. I had a repair contract and the dude said "I will write this off for you." I was delighted and asked if I could have an American Whirlpool top-loader (like a Maytag) if I chipped in a bit of cash. He said yes. I had to install it in my shed, because England kitchens are too pokey. Never looked back. It does a load in 25 minutes instead of three hours, and it holds three times as much laundry.
So, bring on this video!

That was Fabulous! I have worked on my Whirlpool front load washer for two days replacing the rear bearings. I got it all back together the drum wouldn't turn. Took it back apart. Lubed the rubber boot at the drum, put it all back together. Hookied up the water, plugged it in. Ooops I noticed I left a part off. Took it all apart again, put the part in. Put it all back together again. Hooked up the water again, plugged it in. Loaded some clothes in it. Turned it on, nothing. The door wont open. Needless to say there was some cussin' going on in the basement. Totally frustrated, I turned to RUclips for solace and maybe some fresh ideas how to get the frickin' door to open and get my clothes back. Seeing you destroy that front load washer was just what I needed! Thanks man!
Haha, yeh these machines can be frustrating at the best of times, this one got blown up by a power surge, so the donor had me in mind when it came to disposal of the remains ;).
