Isn't it hard to believe that not one engineer/designer ever thought "I wonder if people will think to join these units together in a clean and professional way, so maybe we should design it to do that".... Other than the Icon Pro X that uses small dowels/pegs to join them cleanly and professionally, none of them account for that!!! Bravo to you for showing this unit and how to do it.
Nice Job! Did a similar job myself except I haven't physically joined them, just used a combo of modelling clay (to block up the gaps) and dark grey gaffer tape to cover over along the bottom edge and the sides. Then just sit them neatly together. Looks just as good. I also have them on two small laptops stands to angle them up a bit more.
Great job. As soon as I buy my extender, I will remove the silver side pieces and just place velcro on both units and join them. Then cover the connecting joint with the same thing you used of black electrical tape. I'm not planning on moving the unit around so I think it will be great as well.
I’m thinking of removing the silver panels, and the side screws. Then using like 6 black 3M velcro strips to let them click in flush. This way they can sit stable together (on a surface, wouldn’t try to pick it up like this) and could be easily separated if needed.
Hot damn! I thought after overdrawing my credit for an X-Touch, I could give my bank account a rest for a few weeks. Looks like I'm in for another €250,- for the extender. Hot Damn!
Awesome video! I'm looking to do an install at a venue to upgrade their PA system, and they need it to be "Idiot Proof", so I'm planning on using a digital mixer like the XR18 or X32 rack and have it be controlled by Bitfocus Companion over the network with a Raspberry Pi in the rack running the software with a stream deck so they have simple buttons to control only the mics they will be using (The Raspberry Pi will also be able to record Multitracks). I also still want them to have physical faders to control the digital mixer (that isn't the iPad App) so was planning on setting up an X-Touch with a pair of routers acting as a bridge, but having the extender like this would give them plenty of faders at the "Mixing Position" (especially since the XR18 only really needs 16 faders. I'm planning on setting up a PC at the mixing position with X-Edit running on it, with a touch screen monitor in line with the X-Touch faders, so they can control things in a very user friendly way. So technically with this build they will have 4 ways of controlling the mixer: The iPad App, the Streamdeck, The X-Touch, and the X-Edit App on the PC.
Well explained, but that moving, shaky, camera-work was all over the place, and very difficult to keep orientation on what we're looking at. Also, the constant noises from the banging of the camera/phone mic was super-loud on my system, probably because your voice was quiet so I had the volume turned up. Apart from that - would have been better with fixed camera - it was well explained. Thanks.
How would this behave with track stacks in the DAW? I'm wondering if it automatically sets the sliders to the displayed tracks once you expand them on the DAW or not.
Hello great for your video, I have a question please hello I am looking for if someone has the solution I can't connect the X-Touch Ver la extender, I see that there are professionals.Well done, let me ask a question.I have a Midas M32C set with DL32., I work with my config mixing station, wifi on Swissonic MKII in IP address mode 192.168.1.101 it works very well I have a tplink router that I configured in IP address192.168.0.1 that I connected in RJ45 on my X-Touch it works very well, I bought an X-Touch Extender that I connected in RJ45 to a hub but the X-Touch Extender does not want to connect.I put the IP address the same as that of my X-Touch Mode Ctrl IFC Network Network My IP 192.168.0.1 in slave mode.I do not understand why he always stays in Wait mode, thank you if you have an answer, that interests me musically
does this mixer have banks? i see it has 9 channels, guessing 1 is master and 8 others, is there a bank button that gives you 9-18? if so, hows that work with the extender? thanx
As i thoucht, so much empty space inside the X-touch. I returned it for being unusable in Reaper and sitting too high box on my desk... Maybe i can resize it in height:).
Nice video bro. Just in time. Im planning on modifieding my X-Touch One with another control surface. Do you own another brand daw controller??? Reason I ask is tht Im curious to know if another brand Daw controller tht uses MC or HUI protocol can cascade or be control as a extender by the X-Touch when plugged to its USB hub??? You have any clue or run a test for me???
Where the extender has no transport controls I am not sure it would work if the second device does. I tried connecting my faderport one as you suggested and it did not cascade but the transport controls mirrored the X-touch's.
Would you not just be best off with another Behringer? At least they should be compatible. The X-Touch One has a USB bus also, which is where you would connect a Extender to an X-Touch, so why not check with Behringer and see if you could add a Extender?
You connect the USB out of the Extender to the USB port on the Main X Touch and then connect that to the computer. Nothing else to do other than order the two in your DAW so it's know which is on the left and right.
Why the heck don't they do something like a "big brother" with different configurations as to emulate a large DAW controller? Everybody would have one...
Thanks for the question. Yes this would void the warranty. I have kept all parts and if service is needed on a unit I will un dock, separate, and re assemble . As in my case, no parts need be damaged or altered performing this modification.
Using the original screws from the side covers and the predrilled /tapped holes to attach. No modifications there just disassemble as instructed and it will be fairly obvious. Email me if you have trouble and I will try to help.
It was recorded on an iPhone so other people could get some insight on how to do this. No irony. I don't know too many audio engineers that use their recording studios to record their voice mail messages either. Hey thanks for the comment though.
I seriously cannot believe Behringer didn't think of this when releasing both products. Why don't they just release an updated model now that allows a very easy connection for a huge setup? I don't understand them... Considering how old the X-Touch is I think they are simply lazy.

Great job. But I think Behriger should have solved this when designing the units.
Agreed

Did you ever try the Velcro? Did it work good?
My thoughts exactly!
Great idea.

Yes, thanks for the video. I opted to fasten mine together with Velcro tape, it's a bit less invasive.
Hot damn! I thought after overdrawing my credit for an X-Touch, I could give my bank account a rest for a few weeks. Looks like I'm in for another €250,- for the extender.
Hot Damn!
None of your Business 😂😂 I feel you!
great way to bring them closer together! :) cheers from switzerland!
That looks fantastic, well done.
Awesome video!

Excellent video. Thank you very much.
Well explained. Thank You! 👍
Brilliant video💥💯👏🏾🙌🏿😁
Thank you, really helpful!❤️

Looks like a little x32 compact!

Bravo! Behringer could have easily modified these units for just this reason. Who knows? Maybe they'll catch on...
Top vid, thx.

Very nice!
Got the xtouch a week ago gonna get an extender soon
Excellent.
can i do this but put the extender on the right side?
Thankyou!
Thank's for sharing :)

how do you make the extender slave to the main controller? and can you do that with 2 extenders?
You connect the USB out of the Extender to the USB port on the Main X Touch and then connect that to the computer. Nothing else to do other than order the two in your DAW so it's know which is on the left and right.
Left plastic panel, a good and heavy Biadhesive was enough...
Can you measure how long the unit is know? i need the spacing for my desk :)
You can get the specs from the Behringer site I would be even Sweetwatrt would have the specs on their site.
Why the heck don't they do something like a "big brother" with different configurations as to emulate a large DAW controller? Everybody would have one...
Doesn't this void the warranty?

Where is the actual point of connection? Are you screwing them together? the video seemed to breeze past that.
Using the original screws from the side covers and the predrilled /tapped holes to attach. No modifications there just disassemble as instructed and it will be fairly obvious. Email me if you have trouble and I will try to help.
@@Polecat201 thanks, I have gone a different route / not using the behringer but good video. 👍
Does anyone else appreciate the irony of a DAW control surface video having such terrible audio?
It was recorded on an iPhone so other people could get some insight on how to do this. No irony. I don't know too many audio engineers that use their recording studios to record their voice mail messages either. Hey thanks for the comment though.

Berhinger have very bad designs… good job except that that Trim os too much to my taste!
