the girl playing kim was amazing
Look at the dance section beginning at 4:38 with the four couples. All eight dancers are in perfect unison. I've watched it a dozen times and I find this amazing.
you know how some songs or moments in shows give you chills? And some productions can't live up to that? well this song gives me chills and this production exceeded my expectations
The way she said I'm a fully grown woman made me laugh 2:16
This is magnificent. I love the hints of the Birdie movie choreography here. I defy any high school production of Birdie to improve on this. I defy any college or summer stock production of Birdie to improve on this.
You know, a lot of theatre people look down their noses at "Bye Bye Birdie ": they'll say it's silly, it's cartoonish, it's dated etc.
But just look at what happens here when a talented group of young people get a hold of old "Birdie" and believe in the show and each other.
It's DAZZLING.
People who call Birdie dated have no sense of irony or appreciation for satire. They forget or ignore or never knew that it was based on the actual event of Elvis Presley being drafted into the army and the subsequent teen hysteria which ensued. There has always been a wonderful tongue-in-cheek element to the whole show. And the clever songs really do hold up.
Its predictable that they don't like it because its too heterosexual for many. Women swooning over guys. How silly.
Kim is bloody adorable! ❤️ A great singer, actress, & dancer. She has a bright future in theater.
I'm doing Bye Bye Birdie the musical this year and this production and all of the musical numbers posted has been really helping a lot!! Great production!
MissEmilyFaye same here! I'm Conrad in my show in late October early November. Who are you in Bye Bye Birdie?
Same here

High School? These kids are talented as hell. Awesome stuff.
Aside from the fantastic performers here, kudos go to the ones who manned the camera and did the editing. Outstanding work by all!
He has an amazing voice this is so professional
Icannot get enough of these numbers from my favorite musical. So superbly done. I see Broadway ahead for many of these youg actors! Brilliant!
This version is up there with the 1963 version and it's better than the TV remake. And it's so authentic because the high school kids are played by real high school kids.
I just totally chanced upon this performance, wow, this is like a professional production. Great job. Also hats off to the TV crew, camera & TV director... consistent camera angles/composition and right on the mark TV direction adds to the final product.
aww, i was kind of disappointed that they skipped the dialogue, that was my favorite part of the performance! maybe i just liked because i was playing mr. johnson though
kath likes musicals I was mr. Johnson too!! It was so much fun!! Still rly wish I was in this tho the dance looked like so much fun 😭
A high-quality production !!!
why is this so good
So good! Love this theatre group. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This puts a smile on my face :)
Is Kim a pro now? She is so magical in this performance 🤩
great scene, it's hard to believe it's a high school production !!!
I really wanted Kim's part sooooo badlyyy , but instead I got Alice which is the girl that talks to Conrad, which is good and at least I get to sing with Kim and stuff.😊 but I did want to do Kim so bad but I just didn't have experience so that's why I didn't get it .
Next time u could get it
Wow we had 4 guys audition for our show. This is amazing
Great job you guys! Exuberant!
The kids do a good job !!
Good job cast! Enjoyed it a lot
She's got a great voice.
Great show!!
A high school production is actually quite good.
Yeah, I feel the same way. It's incredibly good.
I refuse to accept these are high schoolers.
I can't believe that they're only a couple years older. I still look like a fetus.
Same
LOL. Actually most look about the right age.
I refuse to accept they were cast. This Conrad's constantly on the verge of hitting a VERYsour note. Put 'personal' stuff ON a personal, i.e., school, family, server.
Otherwise, YOU WILL get comments which might not be so approving and 'gushy'.
Well done. Performed really well.
When I did this play I had such a bad crush on the guy who played Conrad he was so cute but my best friend went behind my back and dated him
Maravilhoso
C´est genial !!!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kim sounds like a Disney princess it’s so pretty
the best part of this performance was the poster of Rick Nelson on 'kim's wall
I’m doing bye bye birdie at my school and I wish we had a better budget :/
They did an excellent job of this demanding production. It sounded like a live orchestra ..was it?
"Buddy boy"? Thats from WSS folks.
Eliza....your boyfriend or by now husband is making us all very jealous. Eliza you rock!!
Everyone watching this is going to have to register with the authorities!!! So great for high schoolers.
What happened to Kids/ Kids Reprise
Was this kid the only one they could find to play Birdie?
Bobby Vegas he’s fantastic for a high school actor.
the girl who plays kim is SO SO SO SO TALENTED. she's honestly better than ann margaret.
something that really got me was at 3:22 bc u could just see the pure joy and elation of kim
You're kidding right ? She's not even close. I'm sorry I don't mean to cut this young lady down but her voice isn't even close. And her dancing is just alright. Again I don't mean to cut this young lady down.
Show me high school performance that's better.
First of all I enjoyed the kids thought they did a good job for High School !! But that's as far as it goes. The young man that played Conrad was out of key many times during Got A Lot Of Livin To Do. Again there kids.
Guitarwizard55 I admit you are right about the singing of the actor playing Conrad. However he is acting the part beautifully. I love his characterization which is light years ahead of the other actors playing Birdie In high school productions on RUclips. Just my two cents.

I was Alice
is there a full version of this production somewhere?
Most all of the different songs are on this channel - but the full production non-stop is not.
Watching this video lets you know just how talented Ann Margret really was.
*Hard to do 'tight group choreography' on a stage that size...it's either 'Slow it down to a quasi-ballet' or 'Tighten-up the distances of figures'*
*'Tighten' and the audience can't see what's happening in the background...'slow it' and now you've lost momentum in synchronicity w/the other dancers*
0:28 HARD PASS
Must have been a dress rehearsal and they're trying to block out the lighting
nope!
Bevers would have given a much better performance under my direction. He would have found his inner Birdie.
No your fired
The actors playing Conrad Birdie and Kim are cute but can't really sing. I wonder how well Dick Gautier -- who debuted the role of Conway on Broadway back in 1960 or so -- sang because I never heard him sing on TV.
This Kim can't sing...? Are you kidding? She's an incredible singer. The guy however I agree with.
BETTER THAN ANN MARGARET
are peps pills illegal cause they sure needs something
Sorry to say that this ;production is utter rubbish. I just cannot help but compare it to that 1963 film classic Bye, Bye Birdie starring Janet Leigh, Dick Van Dyke, Ann Margret, Bobby Rydell and Jessie Pearson. While most of the top performers contributed their might, it was the very lively and spirited Ann Margret who walked away with all the kudos. Her One Boy and Got a lot of living to do brought the house down. Ms. Margret adrenalized the entire movie. I've seen the movie more than 20 times. The dancing in the film was choreographed by the Gower Champion and his ebullient moves in dozens of musicals with wife Marge Champion is proof of his dancing skills. Even Bobby Rydell matched Ann's footwork excellently! Bobby was a great singer too, very versatile.
comparing high schoolers to professional actors
buddy this is a high school production… this is not broadway
@@anakinskywalker4090 It has nothing to do with comparison, dancing has to be in you. Either you have it or you don't. See the latest release "The Archies" and just look at what those kids are doing.
Weak voice and little acting ability. This Birdie should not have been put in this role. He seems drugged. No energy. Pity. Rest of the cast is good.
Well, thats one way to destroy a classic
