I will personally fight anyone who denies that this isn't the most underrated song ever, it doesn't have to be favorite but you should at least acknowledge it should get the same praise as November Rain and Sweet Child O Mine
Yep best GNR song - i remember this song being the one i listened to over and over again when i was 18. almost 30 years later now and im still listening
Most farts are better musical arrangement than this. Most songs that anyone can make, are better than this… and that includes you buddy; you can write a better song than this, I promise. And this song will not live forever. It’s already dead to most people and will probably die whenever you do because you’re likely the last person to like it. Again, I would rather listen to your music, even if you don’t make music. Like I said, just fart, and you’ll have an arrangement that has more depth than this piece of hot dorsal garbage! 🐬💩 #Dolphindookie
When I waited months n months to watch this video on mtv I was enamored by it but then you could not watch it over n over like now it was wait n see to stop what you’re doing to watch it
"When I find out all the reason, maybe I'll find another way, find another day. With all the changing seasons of my life, maybe I'll get it right next time". Man that line has gotten me through some of the darkest times of my life.
That, my friend is the sign of an AWESOME song...I hope that you are "in a good place mentally" right now...Rock makes the world go around, don't you think??!!🙂
"And you don't talk so loud" "And you don't walk so proud" "Anymore, and what for?" I know it's an inspiration from Bob Dylan but anyway the whole lyrics are just insane.
+Matt Hooper Thats what I love about going back and listening to the older songs that we listened to when we were all younger,, it brings back all the good memories..
+Josh Edits dave murray, adrian smith, david gilmour, mark knopfler..:D there is a lot of great music and musician and not only in rock/metal genre, so no need to be picky or choosy, one will only loose a lot of dimensions and different experience of music
This song is so, so criminally underrated. It belongs on the top shelf with songs like Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway to Heaven. Truly one of the finest songs of the 90s.
Não é subestimada não, amigo. Foi um sucesso na década de 90. Trilogia "November raim", "Don't cry" e "Estranged".
I heard The Hague is investigating possible criminal underrating charges. Or it's possible that you're just a melodramatic music hack. This video cost $4 million. There is nothing underrated about it.
Better laughing 😀 but only people hurted by life are able ti know and understand; pain makes you think. "You can fool yourself...you came in this world alone...alone". For Axl has always been hard to think to his childhood, better for him figuring he came in this world alone; that made him feeling empty deep inside. This song and Coma are masterpieces; at the same time, it's sad to know that he lived those moments, those feelings, but the reaction has been defenetely great!!!!!
alessandro merlotti You are so right. Without a lot of pain and heartache, most people just sail through life not understanding the true nature and pain of being alone. I guess it "takes one to know one" when it comes to that pain. I can tell you are one of those kindred spirits. Keep dancing...it's our only choice.... Peace~~ P.S. Music truly transcends language, doesn't it?!
cinderellsworth yes, absolutely, music is magic. Like Nietzsche said...a day passed without dancing, is a wasted day. We have to live our Present and enjoy the moment. "So what'll happen to us baby, guess we'll to wait and see" 🌹
One GNR song that packs a sucker punch and a roundhouse kick all in one...lyrics, melody, lead interludes, video....always feels and sounds like an epic! Axl, Slash and team had their finest moments a long time ago and I don't really care how much of a struggle it is to keep up with their own younger versions today when they go gigging! They still can celebrate their magnificence every day for the rest of their days! A masterpiece of a double album!
I wonder if that was an actual U.S. navy helicopter lol. Can you imagine the phone call to the navy about that? "So, do you guys have a spare minute to rescue Axl Rose?"😂😂😂
turkeymanmcgee 82 , they’re great songs in the way that Meet the Monkees had good songs. Jumping off an aircraft carrier to swim with dolphins ain’t exactly ‘Street.’ Meet the Monkees had two chart topping singles and 4 in the Top 40. Or Get the Knack. Two Top 10. Four Hot 100. Both albums had good mainstream pop songs for their era. GnR only managed 2 albums and an ep. Another LP that blew chunks came years and years later. I can’t count an album of cover songs. AC/DC put out 19 albums, I think. Not a #1 single on any of them but they all went Gold at least. And none of the bands I mentioned jumped off nuclear vessels and swam with aquatic mammals or fired a founding member for not being able to quit the drugs THEY got him hooked on. Fuck Axl Grease.
That moment at 2:27, when Axl's stringing out the word "Me", and he changes the key - the blending of those few seconds with Slash's guitar coming in - it's just an eargasm. I've lost count of how many times I've played that bit over and over. 😑👌
I'm 54 now. These songs bring back memories in a real and deep way. This era was the pinnacle of music as art on another level. How fortunate was I to be in my teens and early 20's when this stuff was being produced?!
You and me both. Vivid memories of high school 87-91 and experiencing incredible music like this. Such good times. Worry free engrossed in music and a life free of stress, anxiety, social media and a messed up world. Just good times.
I remember I was at my best friend's kitchen waiting for the pizza we ordered, I randomly clicked this Gun's 'N Roses song I've never heard, the vocals start, I instantly felt something on my heart, then the guitar at the intro starts and it literally made me cry, the song touches my heart and 2 years after that in 2016 I got to see them reunited, I told my mom "I hope they play Estranged" my mom told me they probably wouldn't, so when I heard Axl singing "When you're talking to yourself" everything around me just went blank, everyone were just a bunch of dust, it was only me and this beautiful piece of art, i'll always remember it, as this is and probably will always be my favourite song ever.
Almost 10 minutes, but when this song is ending you just want to set it on repeat and hear it over and over again. This is a true masterpiece and one of the greatest songs in history. There is so many layers and substance to this song, that it is beyond comparison. This song is the equivalent to Bohemian Rapsody, and it has never got the recognition that it derserves.
@Data Quester November Rain is 9:16min. and it was a massive hit on MTV Thriller is almost 14min. and legendary. I agree that no doubt the lenght has something do do with it, but in the end it´s about complexity in the song. November Rain is more ´easy listening´ than Estranged.
@@cphattitude8857 ur right nr was long n I think it got such good play after following appetite...jmo... I like estranged way more than nr.. prolly bcuz I heard nr so many more times... ESTRANGED eyy, eyy. eyy, eyy.... (sorry that's my cheap effort at that song's ending)
@@cphattitude8857 btw queen br grew up to that..live killers..I'm n luv with my car....bicycle. bicycle...get down make luv (my parents hated that song)
By far the best song of this band. Axl has never been more honest and personal in a lyric. The production and composition is on point and perfect. The tension arcs, the short breaks, piano and guitar, the riffs of Slash... everything is just perfect. Also how Axl plays with his voice, the notes up and down, it's a pleasure to listen to. and... especially great... the live scenes were shot at the concert in my hometown Munich, at the Olympiastadion
Saw them live a few years back. I was in a really dark, depressed, place at the time and I had a hard time relating to the high energy, up-beat, vibe of the first half of the concert. Then, they played this song. It just reached out and touched me. Really resonated with where I was at the time. One of the most powerful concert moments I ever had. Ever since then, it's been my favorite GNR song, no contest.
Now that you've been broken down, got your head out of the clouds, you don't talk so loud and you don't walk so proud, anymore. And what for. Them words give me chills.
My mom died when I was 14 years old. It was July of 1991. Use You Illusion 1 & 2 came out that September. All I did for the next year after school was go out to the shed where my drums were and play along to those two albums till dark. I look back now and I guess that's how I coped with it. This song and Coma are both epic songs
3 masterpieces, dont cry, november rain, estranged. Thank you Axl for going above and beyond what anyone thought possible with your artistry and composition.
I seem to remember that this was referred to as the END trilogy, (E)stranged, (N)ovember Rain, and (D)on't Cry, in that order. The videos seem to tell a story in that order.
@@TheFaithfulAtheist you're right man, in fact, in the November Rain videoclip in the final of the video appears a message that it says some like the story was inspired in a book wrote by Ber or some like that, the fact is the book's author is a Axl's friend, so Axl reed the book and got inspired to compose the trilogy.
These albums came out when i was a freshman in high school and I remember ordering it at Wherehouse Records and being blown away at the growth and depth of every song. To this day Enstranged will always be my personal favorite for the absolute journey both musically and lyrically it takes you on. Although I will say these lyrics hit a million times harder @47yrs old as they did when I was 14. Maybe it's the 3+ decades of life that's passed and I'm just being nostalgic but I'll always be grateful these songs (especially Estranged) exist.
I was a 14 year old kid back in 1992. This song in particular always takes me back to the best time in my adolescent life. The early 90's were definitely the most wonderful times in my life!
GnR and Metallica both stand out to me for how impressive a catalog they were able to produce at such a young age. That kind of talent along with that kind of chemistry chemistry is a fickle thing.
This song isn’t talked about enough in greatest rock songs of all time. This is their masterpiece. Just a magnificent song top to bottom. The lyrics, the arrangement, multiple guitar solos…. This really was GnR at their creative summit. The video just brings it all together too. Poignant, scary, hope- it’s all here. I know everyone talks about November Rain (excellent song and video) but for me Estranged is the song that defines GnR’s sound. I can’t say enough about how much depth this song has.
I agree. For me, this song defines why GnR is one of the best rock band. It has all of the flavours that a rock fan is looking for a song. I always get goosebumps when I hear this song.
I remember when this video came out. MTV played it on repeat for at least an hour. Then years later they put it on some game show of what music video they should permanently delete from their library. It lost to Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice had some kind of freakout (I thought was fake), scared Janeane Garofalo, and left. Seemed pretty dumb that they'd shit all over this video after the hype they gave it years before.
My fave GNR track, it’s majestic. I play it often and every time I listen it takes my breath away. There’s such passion, drama and emotion in it. So thankful that GNR were formed, they’ve brought much joy to my life 🤘
Estranged When you're talking to yourself And nobody's home, you can fool yourself You came in this world alone (alone) So nobody ever told you Baby, how it was gonna be So what'll happen to you, baby? Guess we'll have to wait and see Old at heart, but I'm only twenty eight And I'm much too young To let love break my heart Young at heart, but it's getting much too late To find ourselves so far apart I don't know how You're supposed to find me lately And what more could you ask from me? How could you say that I never needed you? When you took everything Said you took everything from me Young at heart and it gets so hard to wait When no one I know can seem to help me now Old at heart, but I mustn't hesitate If I'm to find my own way out Still talking to myself And nobody's home (alone) So nobody ever told us Baby, how it was gonna be So what'll happen to us, baby? Guess we'll have to wait and see When I find all of the reasons Maybe I'll find another way Find another day With all the changing seasons of my life Maybe I'll get it right next time And now that you've been broken down Got your head out of the clouds You're back down on the ground You don't talk so loud And you don't walk so proud Anymore, and what for? Well, I jumped into the river Too many times, to make it home I'm out here on my own Drifting all alone If it doesn't show Give it time to read between the lines 'Cause I see the storm is getting closer And the waves, they get so high Seems everything we've ever known's here Why must it drift away and die? I'll never find anyone to replace you Guess I'll have to make it through This time, oh, this time, without you I knew the storm was getting closer And all my friends said I was high But everything we've ever known is here I never wanted it to die
Whenever I'm feeling anxious or alienated by life, I come to listen to this song. This lyrics means so much, almost like it's talking to me. Thanks for that, GnR!
Really? Total respect for how a song affects everyone individually, but this is a song without a happy ending. Mostly reflecting his lost sense of self, and that he could never make things work, so "maybe I'll get it right next time". In the second to last verse, though, he turns things on his partner, who appears aloof, pretending to be fine, and tells them he can see they've been hurt and brought back down to earth. Though too little, too late. And it ends with a sense of *near* hopelessness, still believing he'll get on with his life but "without you"...and signs off expressing regret he didn't act sooner...the storm had been growing closer and the waves getting so high...but Jesus, we built something worth fighting for. I didn't want things to just end! So for me, I've always considered this to be a song falling into the "drama/tragedy" category. Peace ✌
Makes you wonder what music they could have made if they could have kept things together without completely imploding. These two albums were amazing and they spread their wings way more than previous albums.
It was the summer of 1992, I was 14, living in Indianapolis and listening to this song on cassette, or watching the video on MTV. Tomorrow I'll turn 46, and I'll remember a time when I was more carefree and living in the moment.
Watching this on MTV in 1994 while studying in America.. felt like a scene from a movie. GNR Axl rose was such a big name back then; I can’t help but miss those moments in the USA. The music, the energy, the sense of possibility- it all lingers in my memory like a bittersweet dream ~kuala lumpur
I'm 5 behind you but your right. Never got the hate for this jam. I thought their progression as a band would lead to this which it did and which was awesome.
This song is part of thr 1% best songs in the world. 2 solo guitars, over 5 min, lyrics, melody to it. It's a master piece that has and will withstand the thest of ages
I can relate to that. + Just for fun I'll have them play Monster Magnet's 'Powertrip' as they put my casket in the ground. "I'm never gonna work another day in my life The gods told me to relax They said I'm gonna be fixed up right"
For me, of all the Guns N' Roses songs I listen to almost daily, Estranged is the one with the most powerful and unique melody. Along with the lines that Axl sings in such a striking way... This will always be their best song for me. When I was a child, my father would always play this song during our car rides, and since then I have never forgotten it. This song should have the same recognition as November Rain, especially because of this guitar sound...
This was my favorite song when I was 14 and had no idea what it meant. Now that I am 37 it just resonates more. When I just want to drink myself into oblivion, I know I can listen to this song and understand other people know my sense of loss, I can overcome it, and there are more chances in life than the one you think is the ultimatum right now. Thank you GNR.
Use your Illusions album were one of the greats! Damn, still a big fan. This song inspired me to write an epic poem. Love how the story was being told with a perfect melody and musicality.
A freaking masterpiece, love the progression of this song, I want it played on my funeral, along with Both the Use your Illusion albums and Appetite for Destruction, GNR Forever
Love these guys! But I love bad boys! Like you, this would be great at a funeral! I already have some songs I want played. GnR will have to be in there. Went back stage in the 90's at there concert! Love them forever!
History has it locked in now and unfortunately many these days won’t appreciate the nostalgic memories for many off us. It’s the same as “Siamese dream” . This song ( and too live is too die) started my love for depressing music genres like gothic/ Doom, DSBM, Funeral doom ect
This and November rain are the best songs ever made and not being funny no one will beat it axel best vocalist and slash best guitarist and no one will better it on the next 100 years
Axl Rose is the only reason I started writing and this song is still such a huge inspiration for me. I was in a band back in the day, but I could not sing my lyrics like I really wanted. I started smoking crack when I was 18 years old and I gave up on everything in life, but I discovered that I could rap. Never in a million years did I think I would ever be rapping. Long story short. I gave up drugs and got my shit together. I graduated college with honors and I moved to San Diego, California. And to think that this song and Axl's lyrics have brought me this far in life. This song will always be part of my heart beat. Do not ever stop chasing your dreams. 💜
Its fucking criminal that this song isn't more popular than it is. I mean its one of their biggest hits and was a masterpiece video that millions still watch today. But, in the scheme of greatest songs ever argument, I'd proudly toss this one into the hat. Some of the best guitar work ever recorded, a beautifully haunting melody that turns joyful and redemptive, lead by some of the most personal and introspective lyrics ever written. Its flawless from start to finish
Just wish the Manson shirt wasn't there. The Song is really awesome. It's about humbling, not all that glitters is gold love & loss, being disillusioned, then realizing that simple things & happiness are what is important. (At least that's what I get out of it). Beautiful music . It just flows...
Tell me about it. In fact, I don't recall ever hearing it on the radio in my neck of the woods (Adelaide, Australia) when it was first released. Though funnily enough, the other 7 singles from the Use Your Illusion albums would be played with some regularity, especially in nightly countdowns.
When I was in middle school, we had no cable TV or internet. But I had GNR music anthology on DVD. I would play it when no one was home and pretend to be Axl Rose. This was (and still is) my favorite song by GNR.
It's like Slash's guitar is telling a story that's being narrated by Axl. There's a reason that this song has 182 million views. This is a masterpiece.
@@rosey1075 axl thanked slash in the liner notes for the guitar parts of this song, specifically. having said that, i think this songs actually about steven adler, not erin everly
November Rain and Estranged has to be one of the greatest 1-2 punches of guitar phrasing and emotive playing ever. Slash could have only done those two songs and go down a legend.
His phrasing in this track especially is amazing. There's nothing quite like FEELING the emotion they are conveying, just from the way they play the notes. A sign of a great player.
funny how I used to skip this song for how long it was. now it's my favorite for gnr ... a total masterpiece. I really appreciate how I got to this track after I went thru the message it has. cheers
I recommend u dream theaters the best of times. The song is 13 minutes long with a great 3 minute's long guitar solo and overall it's a great tune. Highly recommend it m8
Been a guns n roses fan all my life from all the great hits and even Mr brownstone to patience and i absolutely have never heard this song until now..how is this possible that I've literally played tapes and CDs all the way through and I've missed this freaking masterpiece huh how wtf seriously..I'm lost for words after that big speal
This song is a real masterpiece. GNR is always be my Band Hero since I was child and now I'm 33. Estranged and November Rain are two iconic songs by GNR and two of the best ever
One of the greatest songs of all time, when Axl hits the part “When I find out all the reasons Maybe I'll find another way Find another day With all the changing seasons of my life Maybe I'll get it right next time” this song transforms from a good song to a great song. Man Axl could sing back then.
Don’t cry, estranged, civil war, welcome to the jungle, November rain, Rocket queen, Sweet child o mine, and Mr.Brownstone are my top favorite guns songs
What a band ! Miss them so much. They need to make a record with the original members. The writing and that mix of great riffs plus kind of a sad ballad is just great. We tried to do a mix of rock and ballad with one of our latest song, would love your views on it. Return from people liking the same music is always great. stay safe in the meantime ruclips.net/video/RCZScxA1Hk4/видео.html

I remembered watching the world premiere for this video, believe it or not, not on MTV. It aired Sunday night, 8pm (before the Simpsons) on Fox channel 5 here in DC. At the time, I thought this was one of the greatest songs to have ever been recorded. To this day, I still believe it is.
I havent watched this video in possibly 15 years. This was my favorite music video as a child and I was heartbroken to discover GNR just as they were breaking up. This song is dark but it's a song about finding the will to survive. I grew up in a lot of abuse and chaos and this really resonated within me. To see it again after so long, it's hard to not be moved intensely. I was in a stabbing a few years ago, after standing-up to a well known neighborhood ganghouse, Gran Torino style. I held-on to life as I bled profusely through the ambulance ride, EMTS kept me talking with Metal cuz they saw my Megadeth shirt and needed to keep me concious. It's music like this and Megadeth that I was thinking about as I hung to life. I made it to the ER and then died on the table. I was resuscitated twice that night and will never be the same. In some ways bad, but in some way good. Strange how that works. This music, even though I havent seen this video in so long, is relevant to everything I talked about here. The moral of my post is that this music gave me guidance and instilled the will to survive and persevere within me. Thank you for reading. Metal and Hard Rock forever! \m/
@@chetia666 november rain will forever be the best GnR song artistically speaking but it all comes down to personal preference. I always come beack to listen to both songs and i always will
I have always believed that Guns N' Roses is not made up of ordinary people. After all, people involved in art cannot be ordinary. Creating such a masterpiece requires a different mindset. As someone who has been listening to rock since the age of 13, let me tell you: For me, bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple are the kings of this genre, but Guns N' Roses, despite being one step behind them, is like a deity. When I listen to "Estranged," I scare myself; I detach from this world, and a multitude of emotions, including rebellion, parade through my mind. I believe these guys are the interpreters of our innermost feelings, our loves, and the pains of unrequited love. I have tremendous respect for them, no matter what they do. Their ability to break the chains that the majority can in no way succeed to break, to refuse to live within the limits imposed by the world; that's the real reason for my admiration! Because they enable me to endure living in this filthy and disgusting world by experiencing emotions that sometimes make my heart swell, sometimes make me sob uncontrollably, and sometimes make me grit my teeth in rebellion. Axl Rose is a truly special person. His soul is different; he possesses a level of understanding and creative capacity that surpasses most people in the world. Perhaps the pains he experienced since childhood shaped him into who he is, who knows. In fact, every member of this band is special. Creating, conceptualizing, and orchestrating a song like this requires a strong emotional foundation. "Estranged" has at least three different sections. It varies according to the story it tells. The musicality seduces you. The extraordinary success and lyricality in the transitions between passages leave you completely stunned. Of course, the main factor is Axl. I don't know if anyone else could have performed this song as successfully as he did. Axl truly lived those emotions. Just as he painted a picture of melancholy in "November Rain" and made us feel the pain of separation as if we were stepping on broken glass in "This I Love," in "Estranged," he forcefully presents us with pure loneliness and the chill of death. With those twelve magical notes, he pins me and many others to the ground. With wide-open eyes, listening to this music, you can't help but think, "While they create such magnificent music, just look at what I'm doing," and you find yourself feeling disgusted by everything around you, as if you're a bug in front of them. You want to escape from everything, climb to the clouds, and just run, run, run while listening to music... Sometimes, without any particular destination, my wife and I used to drive around in our car. "November Rain" or "Estranged" would be playing at full volume on the car stereo. I would try to hide my tears, but then I would look and see that my wife's eyes were filled with tears... We would embrace each other. A year ago, she just died, left me, abandoned me. Now the songs brought to life by Axl Rose have taken on a different meaning in my eyes; it feels like my wife's soul is living in those songs. When I listen to "This I Love," it feels like she will jump out of the laptop screen and sit next to me, gently caressing my hair. But it doesn't happen... I'm roughly the same age as Axl, maybe he is a few years younger than me. I have been following him since my early youth. He is a sensitive and delicate soul, which is why I used to fear that something similar to Kurt Cobain's senseless and foolish suicide would happen to Axl. He has aged and gained weight a bit, but he is still an amazing person. I hope he lives long and continues to create. My admiration, respect, and love for him seem like they will never end. If I hear that he has died, I think something inside me will also die... I hope I die first...
Guns at their peak - 86-89 - were the best band ever.....they were lightening in a bottle....they shouldnt have existed.....it kind of all died when Bonham choked on his vomit in 1980.......but then these misfits aligned in dirty LA.........Axl was the force multiplier.....untouchable

When you're talkin to yourself And nobody's home You can fool yourself You came in this world alone (Alone) So nobody ever told you baby How it was gonna be So what'll happen to you baby Guess we'll have to wait and see ONE, TWO Old at heart but I'm only 28 And I'm much too young To let love break my heart Young at heart but it's getting much too late To find ourselves so far apart I don't know how you're s'posed To find me lately And what more could you ask from me How could you say that I never needed you When you took everything Said you took everything from me Young at heart and it gets so hard to wait When no one I know can seem to help me now Old at heart but I mustn't hesitate If I'm to find my own way out Still talkin' to myself and nobody's home (Alone) So nobody ever told us baby How it was gonna be So what'll happen to us baby Guess we'll have to wait and see When I find out all the reasons Maybe I'll find another way Find another day With all the changing seasons of my life Maybe I'll get it right next time And now that you've been broken down Got your head out of the clouds You're back down on the ground And you don't talk so loud And you don't walk so proud Any more, and what for Well I jumped into the river Too many times to make it home I'm out here on my own, and drifting all alone If it doesn't show give it time To read between the lines 'Cause I see the storm is getting closer And the waves they get so high Seems everything we've ever known's here Why must it drift away and die I'll never find anyone to replace you Guess I'll have to make it through, this time, oh this time Without you I knew the storm was getting closer And all my friends said I was high But everything we've ever known's here I never wanted it to die

I always come back to this song. It's followed me through so many stages of my life. 30 years since I first heard it. Incredible feeling as though it was written just for me. "Maybe I'll get it right next time."
I agree. November Rain, Live and Let Die, You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry were all so popular back when the CD's came out. But this song is the one I'm listening to over and over 25 years later.
E no último clipe registrado pela banda, Since I Don't Have You, Axl gravou as cenas a parte do restante da banda.
Their latest concert have been a success. I actually went to the one in NJ and the vibe you get its from another world. It will never be another Guns N Roses
Grande Guns N Roses ...
This is part of probably one of the best trilogies of songs in the history or Rock and Roll. Years and years later listening to this again moves me as much as it did when I first got lost in this song at it's release.
The music, the lyrics, that voice… everything about this song is so perfect.
It’s so right for me too, I can relate
It’s pretty cringe video

I will personally fight anyone who denies that this isn't the most underrated song ever, it doesn't have to be favorite but you should at least acknowledge it should get the same praise as November Rain and Sweet Child O Mine
Agree 100 percent
Absolutely agree, my favourite song
It is so underrated that i just discovered it and its already my favourite guns n roses song
Agree
Yep best GNR song - i remember this song being the one i listened to over and over again when i was 18. almost 30 years later now and im still listening
Perfect song. So many GNR songs with a whole new melody in the middle. No one can create a song like this today. So estranged will live forever.
@@sanysany5558that's boring and lacks the melodical artistry of Estranged. No comparison.

GNR so great. Ghost have many songs with a change up in the middle
"When I find out all the reason, maybe I'll find another way, find another day. With all the changing seasons of my life, maybe I'll get it right next time".
Man that line has gotten me through some of the darkest times of my life.

"And you don't talk so loud"
"And you don't walk so proud"

I know it's an inspiration from Bob Dylan but anyway the whole lyrics are just insane.
I never understud this song, but now after 10 years and all sh*t that happend in my life, I understand very well. 😊
In my opinion, Estranged is one of the greatest songs ever written!
Your opinion happens to be a 100% fact.
I was just thinking to myself as I came back to this video that this is their best song. As great a song as any
This, November rain and Locomotive are truly iconic songs.
Completely correct. Undeniable.
This is a great song. 9+ minutes and not a single unnecessary note.

This song is so, so criminally underrated. It belongs on the top shelf with songs like Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway to Heaven. Truly one of the finest songs of the 90s.
This is the most beautiful song ever. I’ve seen them live 4 times and met Axl and I’m still so emotional listening it😩
I wasn't expecting to agree with a stranger today but you got me to.
Não é subestimada não, amigo. Foi um sucesso na década de 90. Trilogia "November raim", "Don't cry" e "Estranged".
One of the best rock songs of all time, imo. Not just the 90s

Riley Rose Actually, so do I. lol (laughing alone, too!)
And no chorus. Art.
It gives me great satisfaction that both Axl and Slash also see this song in high regard, and think it's their best work
Yes that's why they put so much money into making this video. It is one of the top 5 costly music videos of all time.
@turkeymanmcgee 82 Most of their songs are composed well, if not brilliantly. I think Coma is one of the best songs ive ever heard
@turkeymanmcgee 82 Gnr doesn't have well composed songs? Wth. Acdc got such a bad process of making songs. Every songs sounds the same.
turkeymanmcgee 82 , they’re great songs in the way that Meet the Monkees had good songs.
Robin Lagasse When’s the last time you farted?
That moment at 2:27, when Axl's stringing out the word "Me", and he changes the key - the blending of those few seconds with Slash's guitar coming in - it's just an eargasm. I've lost count of how many times I've played that bit over and over. 😑👌

I seem to remember that this was referred to as the END trilogy, (E)stranged, (N)ovember Rain, and (D)on't Cry, in that order. The videos seem to tell a story in that order.
@@AkkayHT228 And 'The Garden' in my opinion is a very good song
@@TheFaithfulAtheist you're right man, in fact, in the November Rain videoclip in the final of the video appears a message that it says some like the story was inspired in a book wrote by Ber or some like that, the fact is the book's author is a Axl's friend, so Axl reed the book and got inspired to compose the trilogy.
For real!

You're so right. I think I was 18 when I heard it and it hits a lot lot harder at 55.
Only a few great bands reach such musical perfection , after decades of practice. Yet Guns & Roses done it at a very early age. A true masterpiece!
GnR and Metallica both stand out to me for how impressive a catalog they were able to produce at such a young age. That kind of talent along with that kind of chemistry chemistry is a fickle thing.
Most under rated song of GNR..this song is acually a masterpiece 🤘
It’s my favorite!

I completely agree! While November Rain is an amazing song, I've always felt that Estranged just hit in a way that November Rain couldn't.
So thankful that GNR were formed, they’ve brought much joy to my life 🤘
Estranged
When you're talking to yourself
And nobody's home, you can fool yourself
You came in this world alone (alone)
So nobody ever told you
Baby, how it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you, baby?
Guess we'll have to wait and see
Old at heart, but I'm only twenty eight
And I'm much too young
To let love break my heart
Young at heart, but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart
I don't know how
You're supposed to find me lately
And what more could you ask from me?
How could you say that I never needed you?
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me
Young at heart and it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart, but I mustn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out
Still talking to myself
And nobody's home (alone)
So nobody ever told us
Baby, how it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us, baby?
Guess we'll have to wait and see
When I find all of the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
And now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
You don't talk so loud
And you don't walk so proud
Anymore, and what for?
Well, I jumped into the river
Too many times, to make it home
I'm out here on my own
Drifting all alone
If it doesn't show
Give it time to read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm is getting closer
And the waves, they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die?
I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it through
This time, oh, this time, without you
I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known is here
I never wanted it to die
Tks
“Old at heart, but I’m only 28 and I’m much too young to let love break my heart”
This line is everything!
Yes it is 😊
krizalid Axl’s genius.
"I'm only 19, but my mind is old
And when things get for real, my warm heart turns cold"
That line...
Whenever I'm feeling anxious or alienated by life, I come to listen to this song. This lyrics means so much, almost like it's talking to me. Thanks for that, GnR!
Absolutely! Every time I listen to this song I get butterfly's in my stomach, this song reminds me of happier times 😔
Caroline I love u for loving this song
Same!
I totally agree!!!! This song helped me through one of the hardest times in my life.
Peace ✌
Every phrase... every word... goes right into my broken heart...💔
Thank you GNR... I'll never find any band to replace you! ❤

It was the summer of 1992, I was 14, living in Indianapolis and listening to this song on cassette, or watching the video on MTV. Tomorrow I'll turn 46, and I'll remember a time when I was more carefree and living in the moment.
that's cool I watched this video on MTV as well I was the same age as you. I turned 46 back in July and I'm still loving this song
I'm 55, so much of this song speaks to all of us. "I'll never find anyone to replace you."

Not entirely the loss but a feeling of recognizing what is lost
Well spoken- I agree with everything you said.

This is best GNR song. The way you hear him get over his depression and grief through the song. Brilliant.

6:17 slash is so cool that he doesn't even need to move his legs to walk around.
It's because he's a guitar god. He probably could have levitated off the floor if he wanted.

Hands down one of the greatest songs ever written and composed. New words should be invented just to describe this song...
Indeed. I'm currently working on one of those words because of this song.
Correct, this song has always been on another level than any other
no need it's "estranged" literally speaking of.
History has it locked in now and unfortunately many these days won’t appreciate the nostalgic memories for many off us. It’s the same as “Siamese dream” .
This song ( and too live is too die) started my love for depressing music genres like gothic/ Doom, DSBM, Funeral doom ect

Estranged is best song of all time for me
Axl Rose is the only reason I started writing and this song is still such a huge inspiration for me.

Some of the best guitar work ever recorded, a beautifully haunting melody that turns joyful and redemptive, lead by some of the most personal and introspective lyrics ever written.

LETRAS/LYRICS:
When you're talking to yourself
And nobody's home
You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone (alone)
So nobody ever told you, baby, how it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you, baby?
Guess we'll have to wait and see
One, two
Old at heart, but I'm only 28
And I'm much too young to let love break my heart
Young at heart, but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart
I don't know how you're supposed to find me lately
And what more could you ask from me?
How could you say that I never needed you?
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me
Young at heart, and it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart, but I mustn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out
Still talking to myself and nobody's home (alone)
So nobody ever told us, baby, how it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us, baby?
Guess we'll have to wait and see
When I find all of the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
And now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
You don't talk so loud, and you don't walk so proud
Anymore, and what for?
Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own
Drifting all alone
If it doesn't show
Give it time to read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm is getting closer
And the waves, they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die?
I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it through
This time, oh this time, without you
I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die

russell28533 one of my all time favorites

@@HerrRisottodifferences of opinion here but some how Estranged had a better story to tell...even from 5:32 onwards
Hey bud. I think you've put into words something that we cannot. We thank you for this. Well done. Keep on rocking. Your wife will be proud.

E no último clipe registrado pela banda, Since I Don't Have You, Axl gravou as cenas a parte do restante da banda.
Their latest concert have been a success. I actually went to the one in NJ and the vibe you get its from another world. It will never be another Guns N Roses
A superb piece of music. So criminally underrated.
This is part of probably one of the best trilogies of songs in the history or Rock and Roll. Years and years later listening to this again moves me as much as it did when I first got lost in this song at it's release.
what are the other 2?
Don't cry/November Rain.. it is supposed the three song make a whole
@@M31Andromeda-lb9uu I'd say This I Love is a great post-script to the trilogy.
