This blows my mind as a Randy fan! I never in all the years of hearing bootlegs that they did an actual "band jam" during the Diary Tour. I always thought it was a solo spot for Randy and Tommy. I wish I could hear 2 hours of this awesome interplay !! God bless you Randall William Rhoads !! 🎼🎸
I thought I would never hear this again. Thanks I saw them in St. Louis on 2-6-82 and he had sound problems there as well. Though it still kicked my ass.
This is nice. I like this anything that’s got to do with Randy Rhoads is a masterpiece anything with Randy Rhoads it’s nice to see because the poor little guy wasn’t around long enough rest in peace little guy❤️🙏🙏❤️🎸🎸🎸the great RANDY RHOADS😊😇❤️
That band jam(The Man on the Flying Trapeze) I feel like that would’ve been on the next release if Randy Rhoads was alive. That composition between them was great. I know some parts Randy Rhoads did on his solo was used in that band jam as well.
I don't think that's delay you guys are hearing. This was recorded on tape, likely a cassette. It's old and probably not a good quality tape. It's more of a "warble" that kind of sounds like delay. Old consumer cassettes will do that.
I have the first generation copy of this whole show, and a bunch of others. This was straight from the soundboard that was triggering a Roland stereo space echo, that the sound guy was doing for Randy, that is why you hear the echo so drastic ,because live it didn't sound like that,he was bouncing the echo through the P.A. ,so it was a cool effect live. If I can ,I'll have my copy put up so you can hear it better! It has been mastered a little to sound bigger and a little more clearer .You can actually hear Randy talking to Tommy and other people between songs, especially before Revelation Mother Earth and a few other songs.I got this tape in 1983 from the guy that did the sound, can't remember his name right now,but my first wife knew his son from school .
Randy is undoubtedly top five. Best of alltime hell i hard. Randy in concert with .ozzy diary of a madman 19 81 .he broke out this riff for. About 15 minutes i will tray to . Explain whot i heard it. Was very aggressive powerful. He was making is guitar. Make all these amazing sounds. People ame telling you the guy.was playing like no guitar. Player could ever in the world
I have the master of this show,I gave it to someone almost 20 years after the guy who was the sound man on that last tour gave it to me ,he said only 2 people have this ,because I knew Randy he gave me the only copy . Until I gave it to the idiot who started selling a month after he said he would never let anyone else have a copy because of how he loved Randy and all that . .....,I would like to get hold of him and give him something else. I know it's not you,it's just that he sold it after promising not too! Well,I still have the best copy !
@@mastersword427 let me dig it out and I would love to send it to you and get the good version out there! It is almost album quality,I don't know why Sharon is just sitting on them? I've heard her blame CBS records for not giving her the audio and the video tapes to her,but that is not true! I was "dating " a girl that worked for Jet records,Sharon and her brother have everything!!! The girl gave me a bunch of stuff, like a copy of Randy's check for "playing as Ozzy's guitarist" on the Diary Tour,in his head he was out of that band after fulfilling his contract with the Ozzy Osbourne band! I think he was getting about $750 a week according to the checks I have copies of,plus his cut of the merch, that is not a whole lot of money, but in 1982,it seemed like a good deal. Then the money from Jackson,he would have been set for life!!!!!
@@MichaelDouglasSkewes thank you very much, it's unreal that there is hardly any quality RR audio and i never imagined there would be a cleaner diary recording but i can't wait to hear the master!
@@mastersword427 You will love it! I'll try and find it as soon as I can,it's either at my place in Ca. or Ut. ,it has been several years since I've seen it,but I know it has to be somewhere! I do have it on an old ipod, but I have to find that to. I'll get it for you as soon as I can!
@@MichaelDouglasSkewes awesome, i can't thank you enough! Once i get some better equipment i want to show the world my RR tribute on guitar! Long live Randy Rhoads!
If only Randy could have lived and the guitar gods taken someone else more deserving to be taken, someone like .........hmm..........Keith Richards. Nah, just kidding. God Bless you Randy and thanks for the good songs man.
@metal4life68 yes it is truly awesome! a great piece of music! but let´s not forget that early "Genesis or YES" Albums also had a very neo-classical touch with "Steve Hackett or Steve Howe"...and that was early 70´s...let´s not forget Richie Blackmore or Brian May....I think Randy loved those players... Long live Randy!! He is missed in a time where modern Mainstream culture doesn´t care about quality guitar playing anymore...
Why is it everyone always try’s to make comparisons between Randy and Eddie? They are two totally different souls expressing themselves in two totally different ways. Music isn’t a competition. If you think it is, it’s your own ego problem.
I know you got your haters on here. You can’t compare Randy to Eddie Van Halen Eddie Van Halen just made sounds Randy Rhoads made music comes from a family a magicians so Eddie didn’t teach Randy nothing so quit hating and spread love❤ And respect for these two that are not here today l like them both😇❤️
@austinallenrandy There are articles where he describes his rig and he used a tape delay and a digital delay. I think one was Roland and the other was a Korg.
There’s no better in music man. It’s not a competition . People speak differently, use different phrases, etc. Music is a way of expression for every musician. I hate goobers that do not understand that. If you like Randy best, then say that. Eddie and Randy both understood it and weren’t competitors. Idiot Fans are the ones with the competition in their own heads. 🤦🏻
You really don’t get it at all do you? Music isn’t a competition. Nor has it ever been. It’s a personal expression of the musicians soul, and personality. Ed and Randy were two totally different messengers. The competition you think is there is your own ego problem.
In your own mind. Music isn’t a sport. There’s NO competition in music. Individuals are just that. They speak differently, use different phrases, different body language etc. it amazes me that people want to turn someone’s expression of their soul they’re sharing with you into a competition. Angus Young hasn’t got near the technical ability of either Eddie or Randy, however he’s just as great at expressing himself. There isn’t, nor has it ever been a BEST. That’s an ego problem you have.
You could not be more wrong. Randy and Eddie may have shared some similarities in technique, but Randy's chord structures and soloing have a noticeable classical music basis, while Eddie, who was very influenced by Alan Holdsworth, tends to sound more free jazz. Calling Randy a Van Halen imitator is like calling Eddie an Alan Holdsworth imitator.
It's funny everybody who's say Eddie was better usally thats a sign they suck at guitar or have never played guitar. I too was under the impression that Eddie was the best but once I started actually learning guitar there wasn't nothing to a EVH song. They where easy to learn and its all smoke and mirrors. As for learning Randy's stuff just his chord progression alone put him above Eddie.
Randy was infinitely more musical, if anything Eddie Van Halen mimicry of his dad’s ukulele hand tapping tricks and flashy gimmicks on guitar got stale, Randy would have dunked on Eddie from an air plane?...LoL...8P
This is where RR was heading... after Ozzy ...neoclassical heaven

yeah for the Diary Tour for Randy's solo spot the ending part of his solos was incorporated into a band jam...
I was at this show.....only time I ever got to see Randy .....Awesome night..Wings was always a great place to see bands.....
I miss Randy Rhoads and his playing style and it makes you wonder or think what could have been. RIP.
4:15 Randy playing is just beyond phenomenal, but let's recognize Tommy Great Drumming
Never heard this and I ve been listening to randy since 85

either way, randy's dive bombs and tapping are WAY better than eddies man. EVH tries to pretend that hes just as good. i hate that. RIP randy
facts on facts man!!!!!!!!!!!!\m/

int the show at 6:17 you can see at the midget get hanging that was killer
Where's video of Randy solo ?
Thommy on drumms!!!!!! , Black Oak.
did they ever release this on a record?
@PurpleSnowFox hahaha ikr, lol its like even more than mine!
Randy used a lot of delay during the Diary tour.
i know but the weird thing is that randy never used delay when he played so i don't know why these videos always sound like they have alot of delay
damn, think theres enough delay on here?
@austinallenrandy probobly bad sound recording
It's like he used stereo and delay on one end
Final verdict RR was the master and EVH copied it
