What a historic film document about the rivercrossing in Grohnde! Thanks for sharing. Is there a chance to get a copy of this stream. We would like to have this film document in our archiv of the area around Emmerthal! Here is a link to google maps where the film was taken: 52.019517,9.424374
I think I would disagree. The only part that doesn't immediately seem to be a part of normal operations was the guys taking pot shots down the river. There was probably some reason to do that, but it wasn't obvious. This wasn't Hollywood or a news crew. The Army "film crew" was usually one guy with a single wind-up camera that was foot-slogging just like most everyone else. The only difference was he didn't have rifle to defend himself.
My father, Hugh Shepley, was in this outfit. The 168th Signal Photo Corp at exactly this time.
Great! Thanks for your response. Did your father by any chance also made this footage:

Die Weserüberquerung ist ja fast vor der Haustür. Ich wohne nur 7 km von Gronde.
Kein Problem. Vielen Dank für deine Reaktion.

Sure, no problem. Sorry for the late response.
Most of this looks staged which was a common practice when film crews were involved.
