Thanks for sharing these scenes
At 06:17 the Threadway Bridge in Porta Westfalica is shown.

Hello pwo71. Can you please give me an idea how I can get access to LIB 5296? Thanks in advance
Have a look at catalog.archives.gov/id/17728. You can obtain it from National Archives at College Park.
@@pwo71 Holy sh.. that’s a damn difficult procedure. Anyway, thanx
I am an American living near Ittenbach and I would like to know more about this video and who appears on it. I have been asked to make a plaque to place at the position of the US cemetary that was closed in the summer of 1845, with all of the dead exhumed and sent to the US or other European cemetaries.
The footage comes from the National Archives. Have a look at catalog.archives.gov/id/18456. Unfortunately there is not much information regarding the temporary cementery Ittenbach to be found. I found two footages regarding Ittenbach. There was a second temperary cemetery at Breuna, Germany. I have found no footage of Breuna. I am personally interested in pictures of Breuna. Have a look at www.med-dept.com/unit-histories/607th-quartermaster-graves-registration-company/.
@@pwo71 Thank you. I will go there tonight and make a film for facebook and refer to this clip and ask for help.
The town taken is in Alsace, thus the German looking name. The sign says that it is Gumbrechtshofen, county of Hagenau. In French its called Gumbrechtshoffen, in Alsatian (a German dialect) its called Gumbertshoffe. Gemany annexed Alsace during WWII, so they considered it part of Germany rather than France.
Boring!!!
...not history but You.
Most of this looks staged which was a common practice when film crews were involved.
I think I would disagree. The only part that doesn't immediately seem to be a part of normal operations was the guys taking pot shots down the river. There was probably some reason to do that, but it wasn't obvious. This wasn't Hollywood or a news crew. The Army "film crew" was usually one guy with a single wind-up camera that was foot-slogging just like most everyone else. The only difference was he didn't have rifle to defend himself.
We think of the German army and we think of Blitzkrieg, Panzers, Tigers and Stukas. But the vast majority of the German army went to war just like they did in 1914 or even 1812 depending on foot power and wagons pulled by horses.
You mean in the first year of the war.
My Dad always said that. So many horses he saw dead or dying. Propaganda was a large part of it. Tank divisions were mechandized but, regular infantry, etc.was mostly horses & carts. It became more so as war progressed as losses could not be made up by production.
Meine Mutter, geb.
America's gonna look like this by 2023 or 4 when we're done spanking the communists.

Liked the Quad .50. Noticed so many US soldiers walking around without weapons with the war not over for another month. I was stationed at a Nike Hercules site 1977-80 and I had to check out a weapon to go down range then.
Wow

Nov. 28, 2020---Thanks for the video because every time I see one of these, I'm thinking of the dioramas that can be built.
And then hope came and spring was in the air! And today?
Look at the material the USA Army had rolling into Germany. How could any German troops really believe they could stand up to that?
Especially, when the US factories were never bombed....
German soldiers probably never knew how much material the USA had. Perhaps higher up in the ranks they knew. And then, if you take away the US Material and the Soviet lives poured into the frontlines, and just made it soldier to soldier, same equipment, my money will be on the Wehrmacht soldier. Especially in the earlier years of the war.
BAR at 1:35. No Muzzle rise! He's an operator!!
Sad number of lives lost for a crazy dictator then and now the USA has a want to be dictator Nazi Trump.
You so called American communists are the worst wannabe dictators around. Conservatives just wanna be left alone, you people wanna play Stalin and tell everybody what to do and think. Your kind have murdered 200 million in the last 100 years and no socialist utopia yet .
Trump is not the problem. He is a great President. The problem is the left and the education system. Stop watching the actors on mainstream media. They are Chinese propaganda and nothing more. I put this on to see if my uncle was there. I didn’t think a snowflake would be making comments.

Sylvia, I'm afraid you have fallen victim to propaganda. What exactly did Trump do to make you feel that way?
Lots of Putin lovers commenting here.
My grandfather (Carlo Brigatti from Alzano Lombardo, Italy) was captured by the German troupes in the Greek island of Euboea/Evia on the 8th of September 1943. He spent 17 months in Fürstenberg (Stalag III/B) and was liberated by the Russian troupes on the 18th of February 1945. I have recently found original letters and papers at my parents' house. The feeling I got from reading them is hard to describe and It's like all those stories he'd told me when I was a kid suddenly came to life. My grandfather died in 1994 at the age of 80. He will always have a special place in my heart.
We have a lot Fürstenberg in Germany but this here is Fürstenberg between Weser river and the Sollingforest in lower Saxony near the Border of Westfalia, the Weser River is the border, so it the wrong Fürstenberg .
God bless your Grandpa!! Doc Mike USN
Interesting film. thanks and subscribed.
My father, Hugh Shepley, was in this outfit. The 168th Signal Photo Corp at exactly this time.
Great! Thanks for your response. Did your father by any chance also made this footage: ruclips.net/video/NO5B5b7glms/видео.html

In F/H waren Rot Armisten

Sure, no problem. Sorry for the late response.
Last WWII filmed days from german front are the most interesting. Too bad there are few available.

Your German grammar and spelling needs some brushing up, but one can understand it.
