There is ZERO chance ZZ and Burnout (and every other GD NPC, honestly) would address a CO in the snide, condescending, childish manner presented. This is a universe where, for yhe most part, life is cheap and Mechs are expensive. No snot nose teen rolls over and seats themselves in a Mech of their choice, or refuses to do their job, or mouths off 24/7. If Burnout is such a badass, why is he just a base Dropship pilot? If he can do better, do so. Somewhere else. I get that this is for laughs. Most Penny Arcade is for laughs. But this routine of shitting on Jerry has lost its laugh factor. Now its just abuse.
This is all a part of him learning command. He's suddenly in charge of a ship piloted by a man he's known his entire life as a wise trusted advisor. At the start of this entire saga it would have been completely unthinkable to push back the way he just did.
