Thank you for having Dr. Al-Aly on your show and for asking him the excellent questions that you did. He is one of the few scientists that I follow and who I wholeheartedly trust/believe. He is truly brilliant and his work is very needed and appreciated. Thank you Dr. Al-Aly for your continued efforts to advance Long CoVid research. I have been a CoVid long hauler for 26 months now and it has been a nightmare. I had a mild case of acute CoVid in January 2022. Dr. Al-Aly gives me and other long haulers across the world hope. Hope is our lifeline...

Had Covid in 2020 with mainly GI symptoms. Have had long Covid flares ever since. Flare consists of extreme fatigue without elevated temperature, reflux and stomach pain that lasts for a couple weeks concluding with a couple days of loose stools. Had a second infection in 2022 which presented as sinus infection. Developed tennitis which lasted for 18 months and suddenly disappeared. The GI component is the most distressing as I also have a large hiatal hernia. Trying to stay off PPIs. The stomach pain during flare is different than GERD pain. Feels more like I swallowed a brick. None of my physicians seem to know / interest in treating the symptoms. They just say there are no answers. I feel so sorry for those suffering with more serious symptoms. 🙏🏻s that the medical community will one day recognize the need and have the interest to treat these complications. Thank you Dr. for bringing this to light. As a retired nephrology nurse, I was especially interested in your educating us on how the kidney is effected. You are the first I have heard mention the impact on the kidney. Thank you

Not exactly in the joints but more in the tissue around the joints. Shortness of breath that is getting worse. Have had many many tests that say what I am living through is not happening I am so frustrated with being told that you just have copd.

Keep advocating for yourself. Slowly, the medical community is becoming more aware. There are some free Facebook groups that can help with resources for advocating as well. I do not recommend courses or supplements that are claiming to cure this - though many of these are now arising and being marketed online unfortunately.

It's sad to hear some of these things, but I can't argue with them:
    34:35 “failure breads fatalism”
45:38 “Most of the people around the world already surrendered to this virus and accepted defeat”
    48:01 “Normalized the suffering”
53:25 “Investment in the health of future generations”
I can imagine how difficult it is to work so hard to investigate and make progress on something only to be met with politics, misinformation and shrugs.
Thanks @FriendlyPharmacy5 for bringing up prevention at the end, for those of us who haven't given up. I do believe indoor air quality is the key and is something everyone could get behind if they just understood the importance of it.

I have been diagnosed with chronic lyme. I had a positive lyme test after being chronic fatigue for two years; so the lyme was diagnosed late. I was then diagnosed with reactivated Epstein Barr ; I had a positive test. Then, I was diagnosed with ME/CFS. Then I caught covid and didn't get better so I was diagnosed with long covid. I also know that I score high on inflammation numbers. The doctor just ignores the inflammation. I wonder what it is doing to my immune system.

Such a comprehensive overview! 👏❣️ So many HCWs today don’t “believe” (yikes!) in Covid-19 resulting in poor if any mitigations e.g. masking even in hospital settings and are refusing to take patients’ symptoms seriously. People going to doctors for help are being told to “quit being so lazy” or “it’s all in your head!” Thanks for listening to patients!       Google;
Are there any dangers with air purifiers?
"Headaches, sore throat, coughing, Asthma attacks, and difficulty breathing are a few of the symptoms that can be brought on by some air purifiers. Yes, that's right. Your air purifier may actually aggravate many of the health issues you hoped it would solve"
Some air purifiers clean the air in a way that isn't good for us. Be careful to not be focusing on the data showing how good they are at cleaning the air, if they do it in a way that is harmful, you do not want them to be very effective at harming you.

It is interesting that there seems to be no consideration that this, rather than long Covid is long vaccine injury. Considering that the vast majority of the population has been vaccinated, it would seem that this would most definitely call for investigation- The elephant in the room!

    • @GeeAre

This doctor (and his team) seems like the type (based on this and other interviews) that has already considered this and would not shy away from investigating it.
Edit: Just found the same doctor made this statement to the US Senate in January 2024:
"We must recognize vaccine injury. We must understand how it happens and how to mitigate it. Understanding vaccine injury will not only help us produce safer vaccines, but it can also offer insights into the mechanisms of Long Covid"
(so, it IS being considered and I read that the vaccine makers and the WHO have independent organizations monitoring the side-effects years after a vaccine is approved)
I would like to know more about WHAT he was looking at when he speaks at 21:14 ... Do they actually SEE active SarsCoV-2 in the brain, lungs, etc?
