I’m a female drummer from the 70s, and my favorites, that was the Ludwig Quadra plus. I owned it in jet black gloss. Hard to keep the fingerprints off but beautiful one very clean. They sounded amazing. They had four concert Tom Tom with no heads on the bottom. I used a Rogers Dynasonic chrome snare. A beautiful sounding set! I recorded with it, and the sound was pure heaven!
Drums and player sound phenomenal!! Thank you for giving us a demonstration with an open bass drum rather than the usual muffled to death bass drum sound. It just proves that all it takes is a little tuning.
Sounds like Ludwig!! Congratulations. Been playing Ludwig for 50 years now. Experiment with them. These shells are so versatile! High, low or in between, they can handle any tuning range. Lovely finish!! Enjoy!!!!!

Only Carter...can make a kit sound THAT good with just a room mic. Anyone else would be processing the hell out of it. Carter just picks the right drums, picks the right heads, and tunes it just right. If I ever become a king-shit famous drummer...I'm gonna hire Carter to be my drum tech. Nobody tunes drums better.
I’m a PDP guy myself but nowadays all the companies are making great kits. And Ludwig is definitely a heavy hitter. The drums sound amazing and are absolutely beautiful to boot.
Not really an Evans guy here. My new Tama came outfitted with them and I’m not crazy about them…but my goodness….WOW!!! Those toms sound amazing. Nice amount of punch and attack. That is a beautiful sounding kit!!!
You ain't lyin' it's a nice set! And you play it beautifully, my friend. I like your style and taste in music. When I listen I can hear some jazz/blues with a touch of classic rock in there. Very melodic and the tuning ALWAYS gets my attention! You would think one wouldn't even be having to consider it but when I hear yours, it REALLY shows in the harmonics..very cool and very well done!
I had a very similar kit built for me back in 1990. Maple Classic Custom. 10, 12, 13, 14 and...15 ! 22x16 BD. In Charcoal Stain. Still the best kit I ever owned. Still going strong after many world tours and much abuse and probably more than a few thousand shows.
Gorgeous tubs!!........I gotta say, the floor toms are the stars for me 😏👍. The choice of round edges was a winner!!. They've got that thick throaty THONK!. Perfect for the studio. Really cool to hear how they achieved that finish. Never heard of fuming?

Lmao, you mean lower the pitch by detune, or actually detune(by proper use of term)on purpose so there's uneven tension across the lugs? I can't imagine any drummer who'd intentionally detune their snare drum or any drum, because most snare drums will detune themselves in short time. Which is the biggest pia about them. Not to mention any detuned drum means uneven tension across the drum which leads to warped drum rims and eventually warped shells....if that's what you're implying by detune, then hopefully nobody ends up buying anything you've once owned, ha. That's not a percussionist equipment, that's trash.
First off congratulations on obtaining such an amazing amazing drum set. Everything sounds absolutely divine, but I cannot get over how heavenly that snare sounds. I’m a snare geek and that thing sounds amazing. If I had that drum, I probably wouldn’t eat sleep or go to work because I would be playing that drum 24/7

I wish to God we would go back to those deeper sizes. Deeper drums to me just have a warm that is much more pleasing (IMO). I'd love to see the thicker shells come back, as well. Beautiful looking/sounding kit, Carter....congrats!
Excellent sounding kit and drumming. I usually don't like clear heads on top, they tend to have a plastic sound especially if using nylon tip sticks, but these have a natural "skin" like sound. I love the lower tuning also, that was standard in the 70's.

When you listen to the toms keep in mind that there is no close mics.

I got cold chills when you first started playing it. Amazing mix/engineering but ontop of that, this kit sounds killer. My GAWSH.
The 14” deep kick is amazing. The floor toms are off the charts and the snare pretty perfect.
