Leichhardt Garbage Trucks

  • Here is some more residential work with rear loaders on my side of the world, this time over at Leichhardt in Sydney's inner west. The council takes care of the garbage, green-waste, clean-up and food collections and URM handles the recycling. It may also interest you to know that some areas within the council are actually serviced during the evening after 5pm!
    I believe the council runs four of these medium size trucks for the collections, with a Compaction Systems and Heil shown in this video. We see these two small 4x2 rear loaders knocking off the rest of the Friday garbage run. I got there pretty much just in time that morning; there were only two streets to service... and that was just after 7:30am! I noticed the collections done by council works are completed pretty early in that area. Good examples would be Strathfield who finish around 6:30am and then Burwood who finish around 7:30am too.
    Anyway cheers to the friendly teams of garbos, hope you enjoy the action, please rate and comment, then of course take a look at the recycling collection.
    Body Make: Heil Environmental / Compaction Systems
    Model: 15m Formula 4000 / 15m Maxi Pak
    Chassis: Hino GH
    Council: Leichhardt Municipal
    Contractor: Council Works
    Collection Type: Garbage / Trash

    Yes definitely nice to see some manual work, just so laim that there isn't much left due to the "fantastic" use of automation. I've got a few other videos with manual services you may like to look at, a few with HEIL PT1000s and then a few Aussie trucks. Agree about the colour on the 4000s, nice to see it different from plain white. Thanks for the comment!

    Yer bet those drivers really love those early finishes, just that they can't fully appreciate it until they experience the work of the suckers that do min. 8hr shifts each day! hah Gotta definitely agree there with the sound, I particularly favour the screaming CS / Hino :) Yes 4000s are pretty rare on resi. routes when you exclude the 6 that work in Manly; you can find some on clean-ups but that's about it.

    That lifter is impressively SLOW... no wonder they dump everything by hand. If they used that lifter... they'd be out there all day! Great video! 5*

    Its nice seeing some manual collection down there. The 32 gal. cascades here are a little shorter and have a differently shaped bottom with a handle, would make things much easier for these guys. And I must add those 4000s look great in that yellow/orangle color. 5 stars.

    Great job Mitch! Like how they manually dumped most of the bins, faster than using the lifter!

    Yeh 32g (120L) seems to be the most common garbage bin, 37g (140L) would probably follow and then you get a few councils that still use 65g (240L). There's also the 21g (80L) which can be found here and there. Though this is only for normal garbage, sizes differ aa fair bit with recycling and green-waste.

    Oh you can bet it's common truck - put the amount of PT1000s and F-4000s together and they'd be pretty close to dominating the RLs in Sydney =]
    Yes in just this street they were working together... when I arrived they were already together, so I'd imagine one team finished their run and went to help the other guys.

    @AussieGarbo  12 лет назад +1

    Yeh that's the way to do it, unless the other guys have been f**king around all morning. Sometimes where I used to work, you could have four or five trucks working on one street to polish off the clean-up, or sometimes a group of 8 or so guys loading the rest into the emptier truck (as ridiculous as it might sound lol). Was good to team up with another truck when you could, wasn't always the case but unfortunately.

    Seems like the Heil4000 is just as common as the australian brands. Two trucks on the same street doing trash?

    Nice Job Mitch! Very well done, nice to see a three man crew! So the second truck was doing trash too?

    So you think this is safer? you wouldn't see me pick up a bin, kind of defeats its purpose doesn't it? btw we only use automatic rear loaders for 140/240 bins in the Netherlands, manuals are much slower...

    Is it common to see 2 trucks working at once? I saw a setup like this only once, and that was when both recycling trucks were on my street when we didn't have single stream recycling.

    Nah just three mandatory (garbage / paper / bottles), green-waste bin is optional I believe.

  • @AussieGarbo
    @AussieGarbo  15 лет назад +2

    Yes that's the "safer" thing to do, only thing is the lifter's take forever so the guys would be out there all day if they used it for every bin.

    Nice work Mitch the bins are smaller and the garbage mans just lift the bins with there hands they should just use the joystick because it's a lot easier.

  • @AussieGarbo
    @AussieGarbo  15 лет назад +1

    Yep both of them were doing trash, just knocking off this street together.

    @TheSunmanho They don't have to lift the bins by hand, the lifter is more than available... I guess you could say this is how the real garbos handle the smaller wheelie bins =]

  • @AussieGarbo

    Lifting the bins by hand isn't safer, just a much faster method - unless you've got a speedy lifter to work with. Of course relying on hydraulics is much better, but you'd be out there forever if you sat every bin on the lifter which runs as fast as the ones in the video.

    I don't believe automatic lifters on the rear loaders are allowed in Australia, would be to do with our safety laws... anyway manual control is more fun :P
