    Hlo sir , in aerobic threshold 3:2 rhythm in which inhaler with 3 step or exhale with 2 steps , so we both inhale and exhale through nose ya inhale with nose or exhale with mouth ( which one is correct sir plz plz it's important to me pls tell )

      I'm not familiar with breathing techniques for maximizing aerobic capacity or anaerobic threshold. Check the literature.

    Thank you so much for creating these videos; they are super helpful! I just started taking exercise physiology, and I quickly learned that there are hardly any youtube videos that are helpful like the ones that you create, or even online sites to help me better comprehend the information. God bless you!

      Does it mean that if lactate threshold is more ; the performance will be better ?

      In sports that use continuous intensity at or above the anaerobic threshold, yes.

    In this case does the VO2 Max even matter if I’m reaching my anaerobic threshold so much earlier?

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  Год назад

      It's debatable, but likely no (or not that much). However, keep in mind that VO2max is easier to reliably measure as anaerobic threshold assessments vary and often have some user error. VO2max is just the highest value reached. Typically, as VO2max increases, so does anaerobic threshold. So Vo2max tells you most of what you need to know for most people.

    Hello Dr. Matthews, thank you for this wonderful video!
    As you probably know, there are different theories about these thresholds,; whether they are occurring at the same instance or not. From what I listened from other academics like yourself; it seems like there isn't any consensus about when these thresholds happen. Some lecturers and studies suggest that the lactate threshold occurs at the same time as the aerobic threshold occurs, immediately when anaerobic metabolism kicks in. Therefore, Ventilatory and Anaerobic thresholds occur at the same instance; after the aerobic and lactate threshold, when anaerobic glycolysis becomes the dominant energy source. What are your thoughts about this situation?
    Thank you very much!

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  Год назад

      This is not a research area of mine. So I might be oversimplifying it, but I don't think there are different theories. Instead, there are different definitions. The fundamental physiology is agreed upon (I think), but the assessments and definitions used to discuss that physiology vary. For instance, some people define the anaerobic threshold as the moment blood lactate surpasses 4. Others look for some defined change in the accumulation slope of the blood lactate curve. Your chosen definition impacts how you discuss the physiology.

    • @federerized493
      @federerized493 Год назад

      @@VivoPhys So based on your reply; can someone say that defining the starting point of lactate accumulation as the 'aerobic threshold' would be false, or is it okay to do so; even though that choice of terminology is different than other academics?

      Hi Dr Chaya. Most of this information came from a mixture of Scott Powers' and Larry Kenney's exercise physiology text books with additional sources supplemented.
      To learn more about the anaerobic threshold and various ways to measure it read this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3438148/
