Fucking Grammys giving best album to taylor swift over To Pimp a Butterfly. If this was ever a year a hip-hop album/song deserved to win best album or best song for the first time in the genre, it was this one. I guess an entire album adopted by a large political movement and "Alright" being their fight song, "How Much a Dollar Cost?" being the favorite song of the year for the fucking President, who has no time to listen to music, but found the time to selectively listen to Kendrick's, "The Blacker the Berry" is, well, 'nuff said there, and "Mortal Man", where Kendrick ends his album by having a fucking heart-to-heart conversation with Tupac about the future of racial relations in this country doesn't mean shit to the Grammys if it has the word "rap" in the genre. An album of bubblegum pop breakup songs done exactly the same every two years will never have anything on this.
PREACH
PREACH
True shit. The one thing I'll add though is that I had to give the album a couple listens to like it.
He should label his next album as lyrical jazz, to get that grammy
The album that this song was in won the Grammy.
this song is catchy as fuck and has a good message, good shit
^.^
Its nice to see youtubers that have the balls to express their opinions on music videos good job mann!
Green Goblin?!? :D
True
Fuck off greengoblin
I'm Atheist and I don't give a fuck what he believes. The message of loving yourself before you are good enough to love someone else is universal.
OH SHIT BOI WE GOT SOMEONE OBJECTIVE HERE HI 5!!!
Grizz Lee I'm an atheist too and this is one of my favorite songs :)
TheCandyoung same here(:
I'm agnostic, but if you listen to his song called "Faith" he explains why he believes in God at the end.
will do.
Kendrick is one of the most creative rapper right now that doesn't mean you'll always like his stuff but he is doing something unique in this cliched industry where everybody runs after money instead of originality thats why I respect him. Thats why he is Kendrick not some other black rapper.
Amen
i like the message behind this song but its more meant for mainstream radio...
Why do you type "Kendric" and not just "Kendrick"?
why you gotta bring race into it?
mEatwaD390 because (I know this sounds crazy ,I'm black) brothers are fucking up rap
this song is different. shows Kendrick's creativity.
still fuck boys will hate
It goes to show why people listen to music nowadays. Because it's not some common trap beat with a bullshit 4 word catchy line, people won't like it.
If you take the time to think, you'll realize that by singing the lyrics you're telling yourself how much you love yourself. The lyrics apply to you, not him. He made this just for you. He's making you feel good about you. His way of giving back to his fans.
But y'all some evil motherfuckers...
Lol that last line tho haha
no one dislikes it because it's meaningful or because its positive. stop using strawmans as if trap is an inferior genre to show how musically elite you are. people are uneasy about it because it doesnt sound like other kendrick songs. that is it.
But if he would of made something exactly as his recent music then ppl would say "omg he make the same shit every time" steve smithson
on point
Carl Pierre i like it, but some ppl dont because its too different for them, not because they like trap. the trap reference sounds like a typical "x ppl like JB" circlejerk you find in yt comments
Cant wait for the new album
Me 2!! 😆😆😊😊
Me either! And bro you're gonna blow I subbed like forever ago, keep it up.
THIS SHIT IS DOPE AS FUCK KING KENDRICK!
Thee Kobysgame Thank you bro
Tim Bing
You got no taste calling this junk. How could something so positive, and telling you to love yourself be junk? You people are dumb as fuck. Stay away from rap.
"He said i got to get up, life is more than suicide" Damn K.dot dropping some encouraging words about loving who you are and saying suicide is not the answer. Yet there is people that hate on this song? Oh how the weak minded are only are intrigued by the drum...
Scheermesjes droog of nat scheren
dumb are mostly 'intrigued by the drum' Masta Killa - Wutang
God Bless Kendrick Lamar , with all the negative things he confronted during his childhood to his adolescence. He promotes unity, peace, and self - esteem, and such a fun and nevermind mentallity. He is a good example for the youth in our era. The baseline and the drums are sick too !
"fun" isn't the correct word to use you piece of dog shit
MoistyandSweatySack Cause ignorance is bliss.
MoistyandSweatySack And there is always a jerk to ruin good spirit. Ignorance is indeed bliss ^
my name is great you are too a piece of turd.
MoistyandSweatySack Cause ignorance is bliss / The downfall of Ibyliss / So, let me show you this / Don't take it as a diss / You're upset because I used "fun" to describe Kendrick's video / But for you it doesn't fit like your photo, YOU'RE TOO UGLY YO ! / Isn't it GOLLUM ? That's an anology to caracterize a nerd / who insults anybody and celebrate when his comment is the third ! / It's a peaceful place / Why being so embarrassed ? / You treated me as a piece of dog shit / And you proud I couldn't hit / My words would be surely harder than you think / Cause I will make you acting LIKE YOU'RE SHIT DOG, STINK ! / Now, man listen / That's what I call having fun / It's not always glorifying drugs and guns / My choice is about loving or hating myself / But according to me THE FIRST ONE IS THE BEST !
So, just to let everybody know, Dark Horse, and Gangnam Style, two songs with no REAL message, both have over a billion plays on RUclips, while this powerful song with such a positive message, a song that literally makes the listener tell themselves that they LOVE THEMSELVES, only has over a million. Does anybody else see a fucking problem with that?
Why do you think they only play bullshit like fetty wap and Chris Brown on the radio but they don't play Kendrick or j Cole
I enjoy some of fetty wap's songs. He's not the best rapper ever by any means but his songs are catchy
True
It has 30 million, this is just the lyric video.
+JayLegacy100 I heard that!
As a 90s kid, this track really brings back those memories of when rap was at its best, great beat, great lyrics, great message, simply put amazing, makes me feel real good that songs like this are coming back :)
You'll be disappointed right now 😂

Easily one of his greatest songs, Kendrick’s music will be immortal.
Everyone calling this pop... smh this is real Hip Hop.
it's funk
+Mo Money Mo Problems true that brother
Jamal N and this is also a hella banger!!!
Are you mad because people are calling it pop? Is pop that bad?
Ryan Lincoln No, it’s because its not popz
Are you kidding me ?... This is next level artistry.... Black excellence at its finest. Kendrick is taking us back...understand this before the Jayz's and Kanye's.. before Tupac and big, before Nas. This is that motown. Marvin Gaye and Earth Wind & Fire feel good music. I appreciate Ronald isley for making an appearance... not to mention, he looks fantastic. . aging very well !! This is something our generation is not used too .. but this is truly a beautiful piece of work. Many have attempted but usually ended up selling out due to lack of support from today's music industry. This is the definition of soul, it's more than just a sound or skin color. I can't wait for the album.
This genre of music has been so saturated with so much negative garbage and these gimmick artists that when one speaks on something positive many cannot understand or accept it. They embrace song talking money, cars, women, etc. all based on materialism, consumerism and quite frankly self hate. I applaud Kendrick for creating something for people to look within themselves and want to love themselves.
This is what I love about Kendrick. This song has 2 meanings.
1) To love yourself before than anyone, no matter what has happened.
2) World Peace can happen if people learned to love each other.
Lil' Swity .....Thank you very much. That's it!
I LOVE MY MOTHERFUCKING SELF ...
damn right
Yes you go
Seems like a lot of people are missing the message here...must not be true Kendrick fans! A true fan wouldn't be listening for modern day, cliche, watered down bullshit. They'd be listening for lyrics. Won't always SOUND good, but if you listen you'll love it. I feel excellent after listening to this.
@ Corban T. Amen to that!
I've barely listened to Kendrick, but maybe take a look at Joey Bada$$? He tries to give his music an old school feel. (At least for most of them, I think.)
Password Pie Joey is in my top 5 rappers of 2013-present.
Corban T. df you talking bout not SOUNDING great?? lol this shit is dope af this and Yelawolf's Love Story are gonna be the best albums of the year. Fucking great year for music Tech N9ne Special Effects too and probably Pound Syndrome by Hopsin. Hip hop is not dead. Not even close
Lol what wont always sound good? Then ur a little watered down too for saying that kind of crap, how doessnt this sound good and how dont great lyrics sound good for fuck sake
everything has a purpose in life... i actually never listened to Lamar music before today cause i didn't feel it.
but i don't know what got me ... i'm happy i got tru this song.
it's beautiful.
(:
you should check more of his work then. I, U, Alright, King Kunta, Hiiipower, all of these are great songs.
The more I hear it, the more I like it. This album is for sure gonna be a great one.

This is a world premiere!
This is a world premiere!
[Intro]
I done been through a whole lot
Trial, tribulation, but I know God
Satan wanna put me in a bow tie
Pray that the holy water don't go dry
As I look around me
So many motherfuckers wanna down me
But an enemigo never drown me
In front of a dirty double-mirror they found me
[Hook]
And I love myself
(The world is a ghetto with big guns and picket signs)
I love myself
(But it can do what it want whenever it want, I don't mind)
I love myself
(He said I gotta get up, life is more than suicide)
I love myself
(One day at a time, sun gonna shine)
[Verse 1]
Everybody lookin' at you crazy (crazy!)
What you gonna do? (what you gonna do?)
Lift up your head and keep moving (keep moving)
Or let the paranoia haunt you (haunt you)?
Peace to fashion police, I wear my heart
On my sleeve, let the runway start
You know the miserable do love company
What do you want from me and my scars?
Everybody lack confidence, everybody lack confidence
How many times my potential was anonymous?
How many times the city making me promises?
So I promise this
[Hook]
I love myself
(The world is a ghetto with big guns and picket signs)
I love myself
(But it can do what it want whenever it want, I don't mind)
I love myself
(He said I gotta get up, life is more than suicide)
I love myself
(One day at a time, sun gonna shine)
[Verse 2]
They wanna say it's a war outside and a bomb in the street
And a gun in the hood, and a mob of police
And a rock on the corner, and a line for the fiend
And a bottle full of lean, and a model on the scene yup
These days of frustration keep y'all on tuck and rotation
I duck these cold faces, post up fi-fie-fo-fum basis
Dreams of reality's peace
Blow steam in the face of the beast
The sky could fall down, the wind could cry now
The strong in me, I still smile
[Hook]
I love myself
(The world is a ghetto with big guns and picket signs)
I love myself
(But it can do what it want whenever it want, I don't mind)
I love myself
(He said I gotta get up, life is more than suicide)
I love myself
(One day at a time, sun gonna shine)
[Bridge]
Walk my bare feet (walk my bare feet)
Down, down valley deep (down, down valley deep)
Fi-fie-fo-fum (fi-fie-fo-fum) (I love myself)
My heart undone (my heart undone)(I love myself)
[Hook]
The world is a ghetto with big guns and picket signs
(I love myself)
But it can do what it want whenever it want, I don't mind
(I love myself)
He said I gotta get up, life is more than suicide
(I love myself)
One day at a time, sun gonna shine
(I love myself)
[Verse 3]
I went to war last night
With an automatic weapon, don't nobody call a medic
I'ma do it till I get it right
I went to war last night
I've been dealing with depression ever since an adolescent
Duckin' every other blessin' I can never see the message
I could never take the lead, I could never bob and weave
From a negative and letting them annihilate me
And it's evident I'm moving at a meteor speed
Finna run into a building, lay my body in the street
Keep my money in the ceiling, let my mama know I'm free
Give my story to the children and a lesson they can read
And the glory to the feeling of the holy unseen
Seen enough, make a motherfucker scream, "I love myself!"
[Outro]
I lost my head
I must've misread what the good book said
Oh woes keep me, it's a jungle inside
Give myself again 'til the well runs dry (i)
[Car Horns]
Thank you! The font in the video was very hard to read.
I love this song. It speaks volumes. "I" is a very power word that's only one letter. and to end the statement with "love myself" makes it even more powerful. I'm looking forward to the album. I love the beat, the lyrics, the tempo and the official video. I'm trying to mimic the dance, it's a feel good song. THANK YOU KENDRICK.
Don't care if all you "too tough to have feelings" people dislike this, this song is a prayer.
"Jesus is Lord and He Loves You" ❤🙌💯 yasss
Yeah!
No
Naomi Alvarez
I love Jesus Christ
I can understand why people hating on this, i was surprised too when I heard it first, but now it grew on me and I dig it totally, besides after you hear the message, you just CANNOT hate this song!
I mean it has more message than the top 10 Rap Songs on Billboard right now, Kendrick preaching, hear hear pupil!
This man released a hit single so he could put a live version near the end of the album that turns into a skit that speaks on the themes of the album.
Absolutely amazing piece of music. Another one of Kendrick's that is one of the best pieces ever made.
Never heard of Kendrick Lamar before this song, what attracted me to this is my love for The Isley Brothers and the great memories of That Lady playing on the radio. Bottom line, GREAT SONG! Sampling at its best.
2:13 hits different when you've been dealing with depression since an adolescent and you kept the memories under repression.
Damn 6 years ago i was 13, now I'm 19......
You're still young though
This song is so nice! Thanks for your music, kendrick.
Thank you Kendrick. The people needed to hear this one more time just to remind them that the love they seek can come from within themselves. Gracias!
I just realized this guy put up FOUR different videos for this one song.... You see how important this shit is?!? Amazing for hip hop and for people in general. I also liked how it ended with the cover art. Awesome stuff, we NEED this!:)
Timeless classic 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Proper message....refreshing....keep being you Kendrick!
kendrick lamar is my favorite rapper, but when "i" was first released i praised the lyrics and creativity kdot expressed but i HATED the music and beats but as i listened to "i" more and more it started to grow on me and now i love the song 100%. AMAZING WORK KDOT!!!
Maybe one day I will be in close proximity to the level of musical skills Kendick has
Love this song, can't wait for the Album!!!
You enjoyed the album?
Kendrick has changed me for the better in so many aspects. I feel as if I can relate to him on a deep level such a conscious thinking
Damn...he went beast mode. Great song, the world needs more songs like this.
Great beat and a good positive message. Nice work Kendrick
The song is dope and the video sends a VERY GOOD message, but I feel like they intentionally made it harder to read than necessary. Why use a fancy font and make it black on black backgrounds and white on white backgrounds? It just doesn't make sense for a video that is supposed to clarify the lyrics. Not saying you can't read them, but it could have been made easier to read. (P.S. It's called constructive criticism not "hating on him")
there's always something to hate...
Pablo Esc haha always even in the face of creativity
Pablo Esc I'm not hating at all... I am just saying the lyric video for "The Recipe" and any other song for that matter is made to clearly illustrate the words. I liked this video, I just think it would have made more sense as a music video than as a "lyrics" video seeing as how half of the video the words blend into the background...
***** I agree it felt more like a music video
Cause I guess he wanted people to focus on the video instead of the lyrics
My new favorite song. Thank you most spectacular inspiring spine tingling lyrics.
I am sooooo proud of kendrick lamar. He is such a great artist. Cpt.
Been bumping this song a lot lately
Always loved this song and was surprised playing Forza Horizon 4 recently, and this song is in the game I was like DAMN! (pun intended)
Awsome song
This is why i like listening to Kendrick man cause that can spit real legendary bars yo, this is gone be one the classical hip hop records in 10 yrs from now, big up to him, one thing i really like about him is that he's very Humbled...
10 years and it's easily top 5 hiphop classics of all time
@@dakshkapoor9589 Yes serr, 10yrs in and still 🔥🔥
I have an appreciation for this song for some reason because of the lyric video lol.
I prefer this to the official music video.
Kendrick lamar his musics is awsome and he's not rappin about smoking weed or lady's wit big butts he's the best rapper of all time it my fav song You rock kendrick
At first you take a step back because its different, but then you listen to it again from that perspective and realise how amazing this song is. This song can and will change lives
"he said I gotta get up life is more than suicide, one day at a time, the sun go shine." damn, at this point of my life, having been through what I been through, this line hits different. 😢😢
Thank you for this song Kendrick, now we get to see how many people that can't tell the difference between soul music and pop. Which is the real problem
He's creating classics.
Once you hear thia beat drop youll know its kendricks for ever.
Its hood as fuck
Love this song. Hope more songs on the album are like this.
I love how this video gives attention to people in working class jobs and people in low income communities, people love to say that they have no skills, they are screw ups etc but we forget that not everyone has the same chances to make it in life and sometimes people have to work the crappiest jobs in order to keep food on their families' table. The lyrics are the cherry on top to all of this. King Kendrick Lamar!
Only Kendrick could pull off a song like this which is why he's king #HiiiPoWeR
this song is amazing , it has like a funky vibe mix with nice rap
This song has a lot of meaning. I love it
People hate this for having a funky beat and being 'different'.. They need to pay attention to the lyrics and see how powerful and meaningful they are...
this lyric video could be official music video dope af
I like it, it's very different to your average mainstream music. 😄
every time i listen to it i love it more. cant wait for more music!
It's amazing how I actually have more respect and love for myself merely because the hook is in my head! Proof that positive affirmations go a long way!
At first sight, I didn't like it at all .. But ain't lie; the song is starting to grow in me and I feel like I start to liking it
exacly how i felt now i cant stop hearing in my head "i love myself" :D
XD same here
some dope shitt!!
Yep
Its illuminati guys
When this song first came out, I absolutely hated it, it wasn't the Kendrick I knew. Now that i've listened to it about 20 times I really like it though.
Lmao true. But then u Listen to what he's saying and how catchy the chorus is.
You and everyone else that claimed they hated it. Scroll through the comments on the Audio version. I predicted this would happen. It was just a trendy thing. People didn't really hate this song.
Same with me
I dont think yall realize how much this helps people get through these days with all the turmoil and corruption in our homes , family, streets this was definitely needed
love kendrick soo muchhhhh
I like this more than the album version
WHHHHAAAT NO
Me too, because of the end
This is dope
i agree torana
love u kendrick ...
I love how Kendrick just put black and white people, men and womens, old and young people in the video. Everyone deserves happiness!
This is the positive version of the song "U" my opinion
Yea you're right even he said that for one person to achieve I they must first surpass u the songs are written in direct correlation
Damn, I remember when I first heard this song and I hated it, then when I actually listened to the lyrics I started to love it and now I can't stop listening to this song
At first I thought this track was garbage asf because it wasn't something I expected to hear from Kendrick. Now as I listen to it though I realize this is really a good record. If your vibing to it and singing it then your bound to say" I love myself" which is a subliminal confidence builder. Word up to Ab-Soul for breaking it down.
***** it says jeaua loves you .
This song is like my mantra now! K. Dot goes hard!!
Re-Humanize the Dehumanized! Great job Kendrick!
Some of y'all be complaining talkin about rappers all talk about money, hoes, and drugs but when a rapper puts something out like this y'all still bust on it smh
KING KENDRICK! still the best in the game.
love this songggg
K-dog! This is soooo good yo. Youre a fucking god!
K-dot* 😁
Humans can't be god, that's a sin. 😋

Exactly! Well said

Marko Stat$ lmfao, sad truth:(
What if i like both songs?
The best and creative rapper of today's
Hope he always gonna stay as creative as he is now
"I love myself"awesome tune!!!!!
Welcome to the under 301 club.
How tough are ya?
You got an unopened bottle of ketchup?
You got a bottle of ketchup?
If you watch the Hot 97 interview Kendrick explains what the song was inspired by and what it was about. The man is something else. He and Jcole are the only 2 that can save hiphop right now
Forgot about eminem, nas, mgk etc huh ?
Mgk up there but his influence isn't as big as the other 2. Mgk talks about real world shit. No doubt. As for Eminem and Nas they have made there money. They are withdrawing from the game. Its evident in the material they've been putting out
Schoolboy Q, Ab Soul and jay rock tho?
I mean yea all of TDE but when I dropped Kendrick and Jcole I was simply speaking of the 2 top dogs with the most influence and biggest fan bases
Oh
Love you Kendrick ❤️
Gotta luv the message...
People like to bash him when they don't like his song in first listen what they don't realise how original he is in this cliched industry.
Where the fuq is my out the sky collab album?? Patiently waiting..cole and kdot better pull thru
Kendrick Lamar is the best. He came out at the best time
He's the best in my opinion❤️
Firsttt!!!! Love u man
fuck u im first
Arijan Gashi LOLS im first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YollowBoys fucking liar liar pants on fire
Arijan Gashi LOLS
im fuckin -1 you can go fuck yourselsf!!!
the lyrics is good but damn Kendrick? are you a Pop/Country swag star?
That Lady by the Isley Brothers, which the beat of this song is sampled from, is Soul music. Pop and country doesnt come into play
If you would actually listen to all Kendrick's music you would know that he experiments and is not just the same bullshit you hear from other rappers.
***** Sure is. Every time a lyricist switch it up or make upbeat sounding music, they are going pop. These fans who claim that are not real hip hop fans. They just like nice hard bass filled beats. Instead of them fronting like they love lyricism, they should just listen to Gucci or French Montana. They have plenty of bass in their songs
well khalilrm i dont listen to Gucci or French, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, WC, Daz, Soopafly, Kurupt, MC Eiht, Method Man, Redman god so many to mention i listen to anyways i hate kendrick lamar he sucks his rap sucks his lyrics is good but his style sucks ass
Where in the hell are you getting Pop/Country swag star? Pop? Maybe... this might have more of a mainstream sound than his usual stuff but there is no mainstream country, pop, rock, or rap song that I've heard that has so many layers of creativity and so many different styles both in the vocals and in the beat. Take the chorus and beat away and compare these bars next to any other rap song on the radio and few, if any, will compare and come close to the lyricism, patterns, and different flows. From the Kendrick Lamar EP I've always hated when he uses this voice, and still do, but damn lol how does that make the rap or style suck?. The beat has layer after layer of different types of music and completely switches everything up at least 3 different times. In just the first two verses and choruses there are layers of African drumming, jazz drumming, deep rooted blues guitar licks, blues steel guitar licks, jazz piano, old soul elements, typically tropical acoustic guitar strumming patterns and later on during the different switch ups various horn sections (ranging from jazz to big band horns), gospel elements, choir, and even more World music elements can be heard and then somehow it goes from all that to a psychedelic bluesy/jazzy instrumental vibe towards the end. NOTICE NOWHERE DID I SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ANY DUMBASS COUNTRY MUSIC. It doesn't exist in this song. Nor do I hear anything resembling any swag bullshit. Not to make this a black-white thing (I'm white) but every single musical style just mentioned was originated by black Americans or black cultures around the world. White people, unfortunately, ended up with all the fame, money, and glory by using these styles. The first blues guitar players, for example, remain some of the absolute greatest guitar players to this day but in there day ended up dying without a single dollar to their name. White rock stars from the 60's and 70's on the other hand made ridiculous fortunes from trying to replicate the musicians they looked up to as children (the black musicians that reaped no benefits). Luckily just about all the classic rock stars will admit to this and give credit and recognition to the early black Americans that originated the blues genre. These facts are starting to get forgotten and lost upon the white youth of today (at 25 years old I definitely see it) because they haven't been education on the history of music correctly. I try to spread the facts around as much as possible when the topic is brought up. Even yourself, despite what race you may be, showed this lack of knowledge by hearing a guitar automatically calling it Country/Pop. Which is a wildly inaccurate critique of this song. You need to expand what you are listening to and learn the history behind it. You listed many incredibly talented wordsmiths but your critique of this song, just from saying "Pop/Country swag star", shows how limited your range and knowledge of music is. Educate yourself friend and let the music of the past and the music of the world enter through your ears and hopefully you will be able to take all of that, apply it to the genre of rap/hip-hop, and understand why a song such as this is so awesome on so many different levels. Also, Kendrick shouldn't EVER change change his art to please anybody but himself but, despite my entire this entire post explaining why this song is amazing, I hope he never uses annoying ass vocal tone again cuz it makes me cringe and in the few songs he uses it in out of his whole catalog this particular voice doesn't add anything to the song or fit the style of any one of those songs better then the other vocal tones he uses including just his plain original rap voice. Still, incredible bars, excellent lyricism and rhyming schemes and flow, and incredible piece of music from the producer(s). Anybody know who produced this track, btw? I would like to know.
MASTERPIECE
LOVE this song
Everybody hating because this song isn't about gangbanging and shit. Why do you think he released this song first? It will get the most attention because it's the first single off his new album. Everyone will see this song, which he wants because it will spread the positive message within. I think he knew that band wagoners wouldn't like this song so he released it as a single to bring the attention to it instead of leaving it on the album and the band wagoners wouldn't listen to it.
Their primitive brains prefer the worst aspects in life.
You niggas and your stupid theories lol.
Damm i wish people werent so ignorant and listen to the meaning of the song instead of hating on it and saying the beat sucks its all about those positive lyrics!
Thai song reminds me of tupacs "Keep Ya Head Up" and a mix of Nas "I can". Both greatest rappers top 5 arguably in my book. Which I hope kendrick step in one day.
Real talk
Is Kendrick top 5 for u now?
This song took a while to grow on me. Once I understood, I really started to appreciate the message he's trying to put out to the people. Can't wait for his album to drop.
Love you kendriick
