I promise you bro, Keep your head held high my guy, get into politics become a beacon of hope for your local community do something man we have the power. Much love brother.
I don't think they will. These systems never just end, they either take a lot of time or lives. Regardless, every day we as a generation work towards progress is a step closer to a better world, maybe for us, maybe for our kids, maybe for their kids.
How can anyone criticise Kendrick? In a time where we have everyone singing 'I been selling crack since the 5th grade' we have someone making us sing 'I love myself' and people are still tryna hate. Fuck them.
Nathaniel you are entitled to your opinion but entirely disagree. He may not have the greatest flow and he might not be a battle rapper with 100 punchlines but he carries the fundamental and understanding of hip hop. At least give him credit for being a lyricist speaking uplifting messages in the mainstream game filled with ignorant music
Yea man, why doesn't everyone listen to super positive christian rock with good morals and no negativity? We all just gotta get along, peace and loooove, blast that pharrell yo!
Nathaniel Bugalou No-where did I state that he is one of the greatest. I just really appreciate his music, his lyrical skills, his message and just his general talent. That's what makes a good rapper in my opinion. However you stated that you're not a Hip Hop head so I don't expect you to understand that. Perhaps just stick to these trap beats and rappers that are everywhere these days. They might satisfy you more
Nathaniel Bugalou There's absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism but it seemed like you weren't giving him credit where credit is due. He has done alot, there is no-one doing what he is doing on this grand scale. Offering us Hip Hop fans an alternative from the usual. You come across as one of those people who refuse to like someone simply because they've become popular or 'mainstream'. You've said you're a fan and you loved Section 80 but you're just criticising him for the sake of it.
TheYellowFlash haha I know I'm obviously not serious. doesn't that make you the stupid one? Oh and by the way, this song and this artist are both SHIT SHIT SHITTY SHIT. I listen to only the god of rap. you couldn't even comprehend.
Its different that's why. I didn't like it when I first heard it 2 years ago but now I love this song. There isn't any trap bullshit on this song, so some people(trap dickriders) won't gravitate to it.

Kendrick is a hall of fame rapper, because he is bigger than himself. Instead of rapping about things that offer instant gratification, he takes a step back and tries to reach a higher level of consciousness. He is a rare specimen that can offer this world so much. We just have to sit back, listen, and convert our potential thoughts to kinetic thoughts. "A piece of yours, a piece of mine, a piece of mind, one nation...under a groove".
yes kendrick is a great lyricists. but not a great rapper. just my opinion. and he suffers from bad instrumental beats and hooks. im talking about tpab album.
My favorite part of this video is when he hangs out the window after that last verse, it seems like he released everything he had and was enjoying the bliss of pouring out his soul creatively. Reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker, except a positive version. Thank you Kendrick.
5 years ago, I was fired from my job, and I sank into a depression. I was so suffocated by rejections after rejections, and I had a minor thought of committing suicide. This song saved me.
Was about to comment approximately the same thing. I mean I'm at the time of my life where I have to build everything and my life will change drastically next year and I'm so scared and anxious and fighting suicidal thoughts and urges and all that shit.. but I'll be okay eventually, this song helps me remember that. It's so important.
This song also saved me, major bout of depression that lasted a long time, this song legit marks the point where my recovery from that depression started. I listen to Kendrick often but I need to come back to this song now and again and just enjoy it on its own. So happy to hear others feel the same about it. Hope you're all doing good now, keep fighting.
Man if we had more people like Kendrick in the music industry.. he's one of few artists who actually interpret music as an artform and not as a platform to get mega rich from off some mainstream hit bs that appeals to stupid people. Thats why I have so much respect for KDot, he's using his music to deliver messages and to connect with his listeners.. Making hip hop better one song at a time KING KENDRICK
I agree, Kendrick Lamar talks about life, struggle, and brings postitivity into his music, unlike most rappers who disrespect women, talk about money, and how many women they have fucked, and mostly call women or people, hoes, bitches, and niggas, but Kendrick Lamar is different he may change this world.
I remember listening to this when I was 13. Me and my two older brothers would wake up early to catch it on Vh1. Its crazy how time flies... I'm 21 now, and this songs means so much to me. Anyways, I hope you all have a great year, better yet, I hope you all have a great life. Appreciate the small things in life. Love yourself, and love what's yours❤
A moment of silence to the extensive list of casualties the war on drugs has caused. None of us are free from this epidemic. RIP to the thirty lost souls I’ve lost in my life before thirty. Still here. Cuz I had to learn to love myself despite it all.
From listening to this at 15 or 16 wanting to commit suicide to now at 21 years old a year and three months into addiction recovery with no desire to kill myself. This song came into my life at such a crucial point, and it'll stay with me forever.

I love how Kendrick is more than just a Hip Hop artist. He's a great poet, and he knows exactly how to paint a picture vivid enough for us all to be aware of what's going on in our communities, let alone the world we live in. I hope I can one day be a Hip Hop artist as great as K.Dot is.
Kendrick is the artist we need in this generation of hip hop in my opinion. He reminds me of Pac in a lot of ways and I just love what he's doing with his music.
What are you talking about? Kendrick grew up in Compton surrounded by gangs and murderers. Just because he was smart enough not to get involved doesn't mean he never experienced all that shit. Pac's life was only on the line because he did that to himself. If he was smart, he would've gotten out of that gang shit.
if you mean in the sense of more original rappers then hell yeah, but we don't need more rappers exactly like him because thats kinda lame and unoriginal. im all about that original shitttt. KENDRICK IS KING.
Collide and make music? Yes I WANT & NEED this to happen. Just like I want ZRo & Trae to collide & make an album. But that’s FAAARR beyond possible. But a man can dream

This is the original version. The one on the album was supposed to be a live performance that ends with a fight and turned into a lecture. It fits the concept of the entire album.
Yo anyone saying this song is a "sellout" or done just to be "mainstream" is either stupid, watching the video with their eyes closed, or both. A song that's trying to become mainstream will dip into the white community more just to reach a larger audience, while you can tell this video had a completely urban setting. And there's nothing mainstream about that last verse at all, I definately don't hear stuff like that in ANY pop song ever. And I'm not even a Kendrick fan
friður Well for one, you can literally just count the number of white people in the video compared to black, I counted 4, and 2 of them were two police officers arresting a black male, go figure. Even despite that, the feel of the video that was shot in the ghetto just feels very urban. There's nothing wrong with mainstream songs trying to get the relatability of the white/middle class community, but I'm saying this song does not even do that, the song is just so far from mainstream or a sellout song and people are just saying it's one simply because it made it to the radio
***** Don't you think that's a bit racist, they don't have to be successful to be good people, I know many unsuccessful people yet they are good people full of loyalty and love.

Nah man, have hope those old white men in politics are dying of old age our generation is going to change this world for good. I promise you bro, Keep your head held high my guy, get into politics become a beacon of hope for your local community do something man we have the power. Much love brother.
I most def can relate my g in a brown man but i try not to let none of that effect me one person can make a difference it starts with you
I love you bro.
I don't think they will. These systems never just end, they either take a lot of time or lives. Regardless, every day we as a generation work towards progress is a step closer to a better world, maybe for us, maybe for our kids, maybe for their kids.
NEVER give up. You have a bright future ahead and we are all behind you! You’re not alone 💕
This song saved me from a very dark place, thank you Kendrick
Drake could never make anything close to this

Nathaniel Bugalou
No-where did I state that he is one of the greatest. I just really appreciate his music, his lyrical skills, his message and just his general talent. That's what makes a good rapper in my opinion. However you stated that you're not a Hip Hop head so I don't expect you to understand that. Perhaps just stick to these trap beats and rappers that are everywhere these days. They might satisfy you more
Nathaniel Bugalou
There's absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism but it seemed like you weren't giving him credit where credit is due.
Nathaniel Bugalou not that good. Gtfo
Most powerful song for me till this day. Never fails to give me goosebumps and wanna dance like Kendrick at the end of the vid
One thing i love about alot of kendricks music videos is that when hes in a crowd he blends in, its almost like a video spectating a side character.
I love myself
Huey Freeman you are so narcissistic for this
dark format he is quoting the song u idiot lmao
TheYellowFlash haha I know I'm obviously not serious. doesn't that make you the stupid one? Oh and by the way, this song and this artist are both SHIT SHIT SHITTY SHIT. I listen to only the god of rap. you couldn't even comprehend.
Huey Freeman Yes my little sheep. yes you do.
dark format then why did you listen to this hm?
Why would people hate this song? It's such a good kendrick song.
Its different that's why. I didn't like it when I first heard it 2 years ago but now I love this song. There isn't any trap bullshit on this song, so some people(trap dickriders) won't gravitate to it.

Great song, but within the context of the album it's elevated into a masterpiece.
Top 5 laundry detergents in the game (don't judge my opinion):
1.Tide(delivers a clean and fresh style of)
2.Oxi clean(attacks dry stains like a monster)
3.all(deserves a spot in the top 5 but not the best)
4.wisk(I respect the stain spectrum tech. But needs to fight harder for that top 3)
5.purex(up and coming in the game)
Wisk? Are you serious? WISK? Wisk is just for the money bro

OH LHELL NO. Gain will SWEEP N CLEAN ALL OF YALL!
+Eric Carlson One of the truest comments I've ever read
+Eric Carlson realest comment ever
yes kendrick is a great lyricists. but not a great rapper. just my opinion. and he suffers from bad instrumental beats and hooks. im talking about tpab album.
+Bonifacio Maguide you listen to young Thug right ????
+Asiagodo Ibrahim nope. i listen to j.cole, logic, drake, techn9ne, freddie gibbs, killer mike...
My favorite part of this video is when he hangs out the window after that last verse, it seems like he released everything he had and was enjoying the bliss of pouring out his soul creatively. Reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker, except a positive version. Thank you Kendrick.
This song is currently keeping me loving myself through the hardest times 🙏🏻 bless
bless up man. we going to get through this
@@kayilla6413 you know we are brother! Bless
If there is an anti-suicide song, this is it.
@@raregolem Stay strong, my friend.
@@raregolem I'm glad to hear you're in a better place now! It's hard to see the end of the tunnel but I'll hang on. Thank you
It's crazy because he wrote this song while going through depression. Not even kidding.

on loop - so grateful to be in this world at the same time as this man and artist
I agree
And he ain't gotta cross dress to do so
Riley Aitken angelyka04 TrendziSco if you aint up on him already, check that Mick Jenkins - the Waters mixtape. Thank me later
Logic is an honorable mention...
Wish this song was more popular, such a great message for society
It was all over the radio , it was pretty popular
The song was so popular in 2014-15, all time on the radio and mtv
This song was so popular lmfao
I’m living in Africa in a small village and I know this song since 2014
@@akldnxk i guess he is saying it because after 6 years is not even near 100m views
this song is an anthem i have on repeat. thanks Kendrick, you the homie for real

This is a nice change of pace from current day rap. I haven’t heart acoustic drums in a rap song in a long time, all 808s
From listening to this at 15 or 16 wanting to commit suicide to now at 21 years old a year and three months into addiction recovery with no desire to kill myself. This song came into my life at such a crucial point, and it'll stay with me forever.
🫶🏼
I hope you're doing well man
i can relate man, Keep going champ
Literally me right now this album came out when i was 20 but i ain’t understand life! Now im 28 gave this album a relisten and this music so damn motivational i love Kendrick Lamar been a huge fan but now IM JUST SAYING HE THE BEST EVER HE KAN GIVE U ANY TYPE OF MUSIC U WANT🔥this album saved me man
Same but with the big steppers
I love how Kendrick is more than just a Hip Hop artist. He's a great poet, and he knows exactly how to paint a picture vivid enough for us all to be aware of what's going on in our communities, let alone the world we live in. I hope I can one day be a Hip Hop artist as great as K.Dot is.
+keith mitchells right on bro! I appreciate your support 🙏
and he's Christian! best part
+3disonLive he speaks the 100% truth! hes not like other rappers who talks about sex, drugs, and money...he above all of that. i love him

This will forever be my favorite Kendrick Lamar track 💯
THANKS KENDRICK 4 REMINDING ME THAT I NEED 2 LOVE MYSELF. EVERY SONG U PUT OUT WAKE MY MIND UP! KEEP 'EM COMING.
#KING-KENDRICK
Kendrick is the artist we need in this generation of hip hop in my opinion. He reminds me of Pac in a lot of ways and I just love what he's doing with his music.
yeah i hope he ushers in a new era or at least shifts out this stupid one...
MrThuglife404 you make a valid point bro
+MrThuglife404 I think Kendrick is only smart..only did not make his life harder than it has to be..😉..2 PAC R.I.P.
+Shaun Diebel foreals man these dudes dumb asf.
We need more rappers like Kendrick
if you mean in the sense of more original rappers then hell yeah, but we don't need more rappers exactly like him because thats kinda lame and unoriginal. im all about that original shitttt. KENDRICK IS KING.
+Will Greenaway I love j cole and Kendrick
there are alot, just you have to look
yep J Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
Or we can take what we have and praise it
This song has gotten me through a lot of hard times
J Cole and Drake COULD NEVER!
Collide and make music? Yes I WANT & NEED this to happen. Just like I want ZRo & Trae to collide & make an album. But that’s FAAARR beyond possible. But a man can dream
This man is a true artist
Amen
1: K.Dot
2. J. Cole
3. Joey Bada$$
+staticboiii I like that list. Pretty accurate.
+staticboiii that's a good list. Me personally I would put J Cole at the top. But I like that list
so is justin bieber, whats your point?

What the heck?? This version is so much better than the album version. How did I never know there was a difference between the two???
just found this out too wtf
This is the original version. The one on the album was supposed to be a live performance that ends with a fight and turned into a lecture. It fits the concept of the entire album.
Complete genius
Yo anyone saying this song is a "sellout" or done just to be "mainstream" is either stupid, watching the video with their eyes closed, or both. A song that's trying to become mainstream will dip into the white community more just to reach a larger audience, while you can tell this video had a completely urban setting. And there's nothing mainstream about that last verse at all, I definately don't hear stuff like that in ANY pop song ever.
And I'm not even a Kendrick fan
Fr man people gotta realize that
Tbh, half the people who say that about this song have probably never listened to the Isleys a day in their lifetimes.
Good point
What do you mean white community you mean wealthy because their is whites in urban areas too
friður Well for one, you can literally just count the number of white people in the video compared to black, I counted 4, and 2 of them were two police officers arresting a black male, go figure.
Yup.....Still love this song.....Just checking,,,..
What about the track in the beginning?
the legend himself
Q!!!

Simon6621HD Not all people, not all.
Still my favorite Kendrick song 10 years later 🥹
Literally Perfect, The message is amazing
Everybody lacks confidence. Best line in this song
the next line “how many times my potential was anonymous” was fire too
How in da beginning "Satan wanna put me in a bow tie. Pray that the holy water don't go dry"
Man, it's the most generic line from the song, how is it the best?
