I watch this video 4 times now. Very informative and I don't think anyone could make a better video on the Roman Made Mother. Can't wait to throw mine next week.

Do you know what kind of hooks Roman Made uses on their lures? I need to replace the ones on my Negotiator, and it appears that it may affect the balance, since they're hand weighted. thanks!

hey matt about that phenix 869xh do you just use that rod for big baits 10oz or bigger or do you also throw smaller baits within the 4-8oz range with same rod? just curious, cause i plan to upgrade either to a dobyns or possibly a phenix aswell?

Look at the okuma guide select big bait rod. It's a great swimbait setup. I have it in heavy which is rated for 1-6oz lures or you can go xheavy which is for like 2-10. It depends on if you plan to fish bigger stuff or smaller stuff more. I plan on fishing baits between 2-5oz typically so the heavy was perfect. I paired it with a shimano Cardiff. The shimano curado 300 would be a good choice too.

I bought a Mother and a Hinkle Trout so I needed a rod to throw them on and ended up getting a MOAM’s xxh 8-16oz, built on a Phenix blank, that thing is a beafy stout rod, I could probably throw a canned ham with it!

Another guy that doesn't get it. No one said you had to spend $400 to catch a big bass. These same fish could be caught on much cheaper lures. But, if the guy has the money and wants to catch big fish on a huge, badass, handmade lure like the mother, more power to him.

Wouldn't spend $400 on a whole trip, yet alone one lure.l catch more big fish of all species than any one I know, or any one I know, knows.
Special, overpriced lures don't build legendary anglers, passion for the trade and paying your dues on the water, that's how legends are made!

Completely agree man. Time on the water and the countless hours off the water studying make the angler. So Cal can be brutal on catching fish over 10 pounds. This bait isn't going to catch fish itself. With all the on the water time tracking trophy bass in combination with a bait that draws the bites is what makes the difference.

@@lastchancetacklevideos very professionally said, more people spend more money on a Tv watch Fishing then there's the rest of us making the investment and having the DREAM come true 🤔🤔hmmm $400 small investment for the Trophy few as 5% of fishermen will ever catch 👊👊🍻🍺🏆🏆👍

i would get yourself a Blackdog shellcracker $20(for a wake bait), a savage gear glide swimmer or 4 play $15 (for a glide bait), and either some matt lures tournament series, hudd 68, or a savage gear real trout ($7-25), for a bait to slow roll deeper. ive fished a lot of different brands but those are my go to's and are great for someone on a budget

$400+ lure to catch what a 10lb+ bass definitely not worth it imo, plan a trip to go saltwater fishing, people up here in the ne use $25 lures or less and catch 25lb+ stripers saltwater
