Watching this video it's like am walking through Sams Club here is Las Vegas. Foreigners who said they can't find what they like is because they are not looking or they can't afford to shop at that store. Thanks for sharing
Membership stores like Costco or Sams Club here in the US becomes more cheaper if you buy in bulk like if you have a large family or have a business. You're more like getting the wholesale price which gives you a big savings and offsets the membership fee.
Thanks as usual Maam, for taking me along to my favorite Cebu store! It has been a while that I've ventured there from here in the province, and long for the time when I can get back there! I like that you get excited as I do going over everything! I agree that there kitchen items are especially great! I've gotten beautiful glassware in the past from Italy and other places. Many of your favs are mine too, although I do especially spend extra for "exotic" imported fruits and vegetables from the cold room especially. It seems like there are more cheeses and deli meats than ever before! The only change I hope to make in the future, is to steer past the bakery section more often--too tempting!! Now chocolate is another story..:) Enjoy and hope to see you there sometime in the future!
Enjoyed the tour of S&R. Hey what's up with Old B not liking chicken on the bone.? Thats where all the flavour comes from. Chicken breast is quite dry.. I am also sure he likes good old fish and chips from UK.. us British definitely don't like fish on the bone, cos its too fiddly.. I recall when I was last in Cebu that a lot of the imported goods were quite expensive, and the local goods were half the price, and really just as good in most cases.. I sure do miss the fresh mangoes 🥭.. they are out of this world for flavour!!
Thank you for this look around S & R, i found this very interesting. Usually we did all our shopping at SM City, whereas the advantage at S & R is, you can get almost everything under one roof and i am surprised at the large variety of products available there. Food for thought, might be worthwhile joining when we return to Cebu, hopefully it will be not too long in the future.
Thank you for the tour of S&R. It's nice to have something similar to Costco in the Philippines. Sounds like you are married to a very demanding and picky Euro Expat.
The shelfing arrangement and the product layout is a hallmark of Costco. Also Kirland brand product can be seen in this video. No doubt this is a Costco shop but in S&R clothing.
The big difference between S&R and Costco is S&R is owned by Chinese and Costco is an American company. Customer service in S&R is almost 0 a lot of products in S&R are below standard from China. The baking is poor quality but high priced. I bought chicken there and it had three inches of water in it. What would happen if Costco opened in the Philippines, S&R and landers would go bankrupt.
Billy Johnson, The purpose of the video is because so many foreigners living in the Philippines claim they can't buy certain products here in the Philippines, yet I can get them there for my very fussy foreigner husband. They do sell a lot of exclusive Costco products, and I have seen a lot of products with Costco prices on them. So there must be a connection. The owners of Costco in the US are likely equity funds so there would be a lot of foreign investment from around the world including China. I spoke to the manager in the past and a lot of their ingredients for baking come direct from the US. As for chicken, Costco coming to the Philippines would be great but it would not mean they would better local suppliers and they would have problems getting fresh chicken sent from the United States.
I shop at both S&R and Landers, if there was a Costco in Cebu I’d never step into S&R or Landers again. And since the Chinese will never let foreign competition in the Philippines it will never be. So for now the only competition is Chinese against Chinese.
It's nice to have better and or, more options when shopping, but I would suggest Filipinos not be so influenced by the phrase, "imported". It is used to convince you that the higher price is justified just because the product is imported. Shipping is a very cheap way to move consumer products around the world. Trade agreements between every country in the world means every country in the world imports much of what their citizens purchase and exports much of what their own farmers produce. As for America, most items sold to Americans are imported from various countries, including the Philippines. I would suggest that most Americans are not happy about these trade agreements, because we tend to prefer our home grown and manufactured products and agraculture. When I lived in the Philippines, and shopped at Costco, I would often crave items I missed from my home country, like grapes, strawberries and other fruits and vegetables. I would tend to pass them up because a pint of strawberries should not cost over 150 Pesos, and look like they are a week old at that. Here in the US, fruits are very often imported, like strawberries, but they usually cost us around 50 Pesos to 150 Pesos per pint. And with those low prices we tend to get less quality.
@James Tejares Easy answer to your question. You were in New York! As I said before, America is not immune to corporate price gouging. Greed is taking over our society. If you are as old as I am, you can remember getting a hamburger, fry, and a drink at McDonald's and get change back from the $1 you used to buy it all. I moved to Southern California back in the mid-80s. That was the first time in my life that I saw an avocado. By the time I learned what that fruit was and that I have a hard time living without it, the prices jumped like crazy. They went from not being sold in stores to ten cents each, to $3 each today. Why? We are told because they are imported from Hawaii and Mexico. All of us are being lied to, to fill some crazy rich guys pockets. My point here is that in the Philippines, Filipinos are being sold an idea that is not reality. A lot of the products we purchase in the US, come from Southeast Asia, yet the Philippines (which happens to be in Southeast Asia), are told they need to pay more for products that are actually coming from just a few thousand miles from the South.
There is no doubt in my mind that S&R is either 100% Costco, by way of Philippine laws regarding foreign businesses doing business in the Philippines. Aside from the setup, products and the fact S&R management admitted to me that S&R is closely related to Costco, the store brand products are Kirkland. Kirkland is Costco's brand name. My only question is, why Costco was not able to continue using the Costco store name in the Philippines. Japan and China have more strict business practices than the Philippines, yet you will see Costco as the business name on their foreign stores. The S&R manager I spoke to tried his best to avoid discussing this subject, but I am very well known for not letting go, when I have my sights set on getting answers. He did share with me his opinion of why S&R instead of Costco. It was his opinion so I will just leave that out of my comments.
By using S&R they are now registered as a new business not an off shore branch of Costco, it is a taxation strategy as far as I know of businesses doing the same.
I considered that as well. The S&R regional manager I was talking with assumed with me that taxes may have had something to do with it, but I'm sure all parties were very aware who was who and who owned what. Still, I wouldn't count that out of the equation. Like I said, Japan and China have strict rules and heave taxations on foreign companies, yet they yes their corporate names just the same. I also considered someone made a deal... If you know what I mean.
Makro and S&R have different clienteles: Makro is business-oriented, so the product portions sold there are meant for business/enterprise consumption, while S&R is more like Costco/Sam's Club. I could tell the difference because I have personally been to both chains.
No way! hindi ako maniwalang Costco iyan. Parang Costco nga dito sa America. Ipakita mo nga sa harapan ng store Logo Saan at anong pangalan yan? O kaya brand name na Kirkland at Signature din maniwala na ako.
Juice kolored, lol. Please read the description po, Costco ito with a different name kasi it is in the Philippines, iyong kirkland brand mo ang dami dyan 😂

Thank you for this video! I got to see what’s inside S&R
Yeah similar to Costco.my favorite shopping store in america.

yeah that is definitely part of the Costco family. the Kirkland brand is their signature product, you only find those at Costco.
Thanks for the tour VPP . I’m sure old B would love nothing more than English fish and chips and a pint of ale cheers

Yes I love it has my beef steaks and fresh produce I never knew about it till after 8 years I been in Philippines.
True dai..its huge like COSTCO ( American )
in the UK with £30 yearly membership
Cool video. The camera moved very fast and could not catch the prices.
The shelfing arrangement and the product layout is a hallmark of Costco. Also Kirland brand product can be seen in this video. No doubt this is a Costco shop but in S&R clothing.
Thank you for showing us around. Do you know where we can buy automatic espresso machine? I wanted to buy one for a relative. Thank you
Have a look at my video " Commercial Coffee Makers Prices in the Philippines" these are available in SM Appliances Centerp
They have stuffs from costco, the kirkland brands.
Yep just like Costco,Sam's club, and BJ here in the USA lots of cheaper items by bulk
The only thing I buy stuff here in the US and box it to the Philippines for my house consumption are the laundry detergents, vitamins, mix nuts
Thank you for sharing... so can I use my US costco card here???
No po, they have their own membership cards.
@@villagepeoplephilippines how much po ang membership?
700 pesos po
Those are sheds for storing garden tools etc., not houses.
Kahit d2 sa Canada merong Costco at gasoline at MURA talaga, mabuhay pilipinas!!!
Is there any camping/outdoor stuffs?
Yes they have got that sometimes
Place is very nice tita paro in my wife place doesn't have. Samar they need that
wow galing naman may cosco na dito sa philipines
Do they also sell electronics like laptops?
Not yet
I'm a Costco member in the UK. Can I use my card in Costco Philippines?
No po, S&R have their own local membership to shop
Do they carry Tylenol or Sudafed in 10,000 pill bottles? Actually any meds as long as it has pseudo for my side business 😜
No. OTC medicines sold in the country do not come in such quantities, and S&R does not have an in-house pharmacy within their stores.

Where is this place S&R shopping mall
They have branches in Manila, Cebu and Davao
Actually we know we can find products from America here in the Philippines it’s just way too expensive.
Is this store owned by Costco?
Co owned
@@villagepeoplephilippines thank you for your reply. I am Costco member, do you think they accept my membership of Costco?
@@Myfilipinaqueenandpersianlion: I don't think so. A separate membership is needed to shop at S&R.
Almond milk too, please
Costco in the Philippines. THAT’S CORRECT!
That’s what these stores are called here in Los Angeles.

It’s not Costco it’s chinese owned company that wants to look like Costco. Similar to a chinese car and a Toyota two different animals
It's much better if you showed all the prices of the products and meats
Imported appliances are 110V
All their appliances has been modified for PH market.
Saan ngang lugar yan?
Cebu po Maam but S&R membership also have branches in Manila and Davao po Maam
Pwede ba jan ang coscto card or kailangan magpa member sa sr.
Different membership...it is like 700 pesos membership last 2019... not sure this time
Wow just like here in the U S.
Ate just use your regular speech voice hahaha. You trying to sound like a PBS tv station. Just saying.
