Thanks so much. Funnily enough I am just uploading a video on how to connect the switch to an old CRT TV but via the SCART not the RF but maybe you can get SCART to RF converters cheaply (I haven't looked) Cheers Vince :-)
This video was extremely helpful! I'm not sure why we didn't think of getting the sound directly from the switch. We were trying to get it to come from the monitor to no avail. So DVI's don't ever send sound?
I have an HDMI port, so the picture should work. But how can I make sure that I don't get the sound from the (bad) monitor speakers but the external ones? I don't have a switch yet (so I can't just test it), but I want to buy one but I'm kinda struggling with understanding how the correct speakers (in-built in monitor or externals) will get picked, since if I understand this correctly the PC doesn't have to do anything with this, so I can leave that off. So if I plug in an HDMI cable to monitor with speakers and also connect external speakers to the switch, will the sound then come from the external speakers or the monitor? And it's correct that I can have my PC turned off? So I don't need the PC and the Switch to be turned on, right?
i got hdmi to dvi cable and when i plugin to my monitor its not detecting. i tried to change setting (resolution) in switch also in monitor. Please suggest
my PC is hooked up with both HDMIs, and my HDMI for the switch has an HDMI out with a D-SUB. I plug it in but the dock doesn't do anything. The AC Adapter wasn't in either so I feel like that might've been a problem.
how can i get audio if my switch is plugged with hdmi output on my pc monitor and i want to hear the switch as well if im on a discord call using headsets?
There is an audio input in this monitor so you can get 3.5 mm cable male to male plug one end into the headphone jack and plug another end into the audio input on the back of the monitor.
So my pc has no hdmi/dvi/vga input (it's the HP touchsmart 7320 all in one LC). Is it possible to have a hdmi to USB adapter? When I google I only see usb to hdmi...
Couldn't you just plug the auxillery cable into the monitors audio jack to get sound from the switch to the monitors built in speakers? 2:55 The audio jack is to the right of the VGA port.
My monitor has only one HDMI port and I wanted to have my Switch and XBOX 360 plugged in, I didn't know DVI had no audio and couldn't use my DVI cable so I will try this setup.
Year, I now it's not difficult. The difficult part that I didn't achieve is to scale the picture. I have a 1680x1050 monitor, and I would like to know if its possible to get the 1080p output scaled to that resolution. I'm assuming that the switch cannot have 1680x1050 output resolution. Do you know any cheap dvi/hdmi scaler? I don't want to play at 720p in full-screen.
I can’t get this to work. I’m using an adaptor (same as your adaptor), and it either comes up with a “dvi no signal” error, or an “out of range” error. I have gotten it to kind of work, but the colours are all messed up and it cuts off randomly. Help!
The 3.5mm audio in on the monitor provides a really low volume. I can only get acceptable volume by using a HDMI input. Maybe other expensive monitors would perform better.
Hi,iIt is covering up a HDMI port otherwise it will confuse viewers as they will wonder why I am not using the HDMI instead of the DVI. A lot of monitors with DVI do not have HDMI hence the reason for the video.
Great video: BUT.....is there a way to play audio through the Monitor speakers? I can't even get my PC to play audio through the proper HDMI/Displayport settings with audio on. I have a dual monitor, but I tried both and neither are playing audio through it. Fuck me, amiright? XD
Using a speaker is unlogical; I've a Blu-ray player, and while your solution works, the monitor you used has speaker ; hence , there's a 1/8 jack feminine. Therefore, unless you have a monitor without a speaker, it's unethical to use speakers to clutter up space.
THANK YOU! A friend is coming over and we wanted to play together for ages, now i used ur trick!
I want to use one of his tricks to fix my PS4 slim
great video man, one of the best Channels for the Switch
thus i Challenge you to connect the switch to the old RF input ;)

Do you need the hard drive box thing or can u just use the monitor
Your monitor has an AUX port, why you didn't use an AUX cable and connect it to your monitor?
Here the thing , I don’t wanna use switch headphone mode , cuzz that will ruin my elgato audio setup , are there Any Alternative

thanks just what i needed :D
Well there are hdmi extension cables so you could use your old dvi cable
have to connect my Nintendo switch to monitor
Does this DVI - HDMI port cause my Switch to brick after firmware 5.0.0?
No
What kind of dvi the blue one that he is using I’m trying to look for it
Is a DVI cable better than a VGA one when it comes to the switch?
yes

You have to go into the switch's settings and turn the output to the resolution of your monitor
thats cool
Can UGREEN HDMI DVI can be use for?
Is it the same concept for VGA? my monitor only has VGA ports.
Hi, yes it is but you need an adapter. See this video.

Thanks
This is extremely unnecessary, but I love it.
how is it unnecessary?
Wait if you have a high hz monitor like if your playing fortnite can you play on 240hz?
No
if your monitor have a speaker, why don't you plug in that speaker cable from the switch head phone to the monitor?
maybe he forgot, but also, built-in speakers in monitors are really bad.

Do you have a dvi-d or dvi-i
@Abuda7ees its the best channel
Anyone notice that there is some electric black tape above the DVI port at 2:58?

when i try to play breath of the wild it just gives me a black screen. i got the display working for everything else tho
I have a BenQ monitor and dvi-hdmi...it’s not working anymore 😩
Should of make the dock bigger for the (dvi HDMI to fit)
what monitor is that
Does it work with an vga adapter ?
yes
Yes it does

i have to buy a speaker???
Does it work with laptop as well?
if your laptop is supported

Wait, it's a micro hdmi...
No it's not
That’s USB-C Not Micro HDMI
does it work with one of those mini docks?
If it has an hdmi out, then yes
thanks
but my computer keeps going into power-saving mode every time I connect to the DVI
Me too
Same
Will this work on any monitor
Pikachu Gaming - No, because not all the monitors (or TVs) have a DVI port.
Some computer monitors have hdmi port on them
does that actually work with a WiiU too?
Yes
Can you stream tho?
yes
There is an HDMI port above the DVI port.
Let's up the anti a bit. How would I go about connecting my pc and a switch to the same monitor that doesn't have an hdmi port?
Idk buy a new monitor I don't think it is possible unless you do some modding of the monitor
👍
I thought it would be CRT monitor.
Can you go on live
This monitor DOES have HDMI but you use tape to cover it.
The point is to show connecting a switch to a DVI socket not that he does not have HDMI. No one cares, get over it.
Using a speaker is unlogical; I've a Blu-ray player, and while your solution works, the monitor you used has speaker ; hence , there's a 1/8 jack feminine. Therefore, unless you have a monitor without a speaker, it's unethical to use speakers to clutter up space.
cant you use the switchs speakers?
No
i did it but it says check vga cable...
i connected my switch to the monitor but the controles didnt work
what do i do?
Are the controller's connected to the switch? or the picture is just freezing
My monitor doesnt have a female DVI.. it has a male one, what do i do?
Hey someone plz hepl me to switch from dvi to vaga on a monitor
What about real speakers though?
Is the time on the switch 00:11??
24 hour time 00:11 would be 12:11 AM
What about DisplayPort?
As far as I know, HDMI to DisplayPort converters are expensive. DisplayPort to HDMI is cheap and really easy to do but not the other way round.
