Damn, there were a few sentences Quentin said where Jamie forgot to say "right" or "wow." Don't relax like that Jamie. You gotta say at least one word every 5 seconds please!
Gunnel Gainey Fishburnes people wanted Fishburne to become the lead. Although Samuel Jackson isn’t the lead in Pulp Fictipn or Die Hard, he is as much apart of that movie as any actor
I must admit Madson would have made a great Vincent Vega but ultimately I'm glad it went to Travolta. And thank Jesus Fishburn turned down the role for SLJ to play Jewels.
Well I'm glad Travolta and Samuel L Jackson got the roles. It would have been weird to see Michael Madsen as Jules and Larry Fishburne as Vincent Vega.
Fishbourne as Jules would have been a disappointment. Sam Jackson owned that role. Jules was my favorite character because of how Sam Jackson portrayed the character.
Fact is, if Fishburn and Madsen hadn't pulled out, people would be saying the same about Travolta and Jackson. Personally I love them all, and think they all would have smashed it with their own styles. Peace
@Mr. Shlock He might have extremely occasionally taken cocaine in the 1990s, he can't possibly take anything now, as he is productive in writing and directing films, which is extremely demanding mentally..
Lawrence Fishburne needed to get some new representation. Look at all the films Samuel L Jackson has done since Pulp Fiction and look at all the roles Fishburne has done.
Samuel done a lot of terrible Marvel movies playing that corny version of himself. So I think it worked out for Larry in the end. Lol. He was great in John Wick 2.
I know most people can't see past the final casting of a good movie they're a fan of, but I'm upset Madsen didn't get the role. Glad Sam got it over Fish though, although Fish would have done a fine job. Just not as animated a job of Sam Jackson which the role needed. He would have nailed the 2nd part of the character's arc where he wanted to roam the earth though
Stop with the hindsight. I'm sure Madsen knew Tarantino was brilliant based on Reservoir Dogs, but how do you pass on playing an Earp brother in a Costner movie? I'm sure Tim Roth and George Clooney missed good roles to be in Four Rooms and Dusk Til Dawn.
Everybody paying out on our boy for doing his superfly voice when they obviously arent aware of the term Mirroring in psychology. Usually means the person being imitated has real sway over the person imitating. Tarantino thoroughly enjoyed this interaction.
I read this before he started talking and thought, “nah it can’t be that bad/noticeable” and right as I finish the thought jive talk from a dork started coming through my speakers.
@@jeremymullins1294 I think it's more of a psychology thing, where he talks like those around him. Happens to a lot of people all the time and they dont even know it, because he switches back and forth. It's called Mirroring. And you usually do it if you like the person you're unconsciously trying to imitate.
Interesting to hear Queintin and the people in the comments see this as Laurence Fishburne taking a loss. When in fact, he just knew his own worth. When your co-stars who cant act as well as you are making 30 million per film, a million dollars is the least the studio could've given him. At the time of Pulp fiction Laurence had been acting for decades (Cornbread, Earl and, Me, Apolcalypse Now, King of New York). He deserved that pay rate. So what does Hollywood do, when a BIPOC is seeking equal pay. They find another BIPOC that will take half of what they deserve and replace them. They do it to women too. Its sad. But in the end Sam Jackson is the ONLY actor who could've played Jewels. One of his best roles and one of the greatest actors on earth.
Goes to show hard work pays off. If you're not busy and don't have the job that you want. Go do another job. Gain knowledge, skills and experience. And then eventually you'll get the job you want, or even a better one.
And what did Laurence fishbourne end up doing the following year or whatever? The movie fled. Where he was strung along with the insanely popular and great actor (wait for it).....Stephen Baldwin. Hahahahaha yeah that's funny shit.
Travolta is great and no one fits the part like him to me. But fishburne would have a lot better in my opinion. And knowing he wanted the part as well is too bad. Always go with what your inspired by. If you ever think of pulp fiction remember to think of Laurence Fishburne.
Interesting interview, but the hip, jazz performer affectation Tarantino is going with had me a bit distracted. I understand he's an actor as well...but, c'mon....
At the time jt was pretty much a has been...qt got all kinds of shit for casting him...until they saw the movie...and of course knowing we all want to see jt dance tarantino writes in the scene at jac rabbit slims...although they were not the contest winners that nite they still took home the trophy...guess when the boss mans lady says she wants that trophy u get that motherfuckn trophy
But at least fishbourne Is still a cinema movie actor whose movies aré shown on theaters. Madsen has had a much worst carrer AND hes only a TV AND DVD actor
When someone is more annoying than QT at his worst, it says something. QT tells a story and Jamie won't shut up. Jamie is a great actor but please get off QT's nuts and respect *Laurence Fishburne* by calling him his name.
Dude yes! Lol. I hate all these people calling him Fish or Larry in the comments. Even Jamie Foxx was cringy saying it. I’ll give Tarantino a pass because he might actually know Laurence and call him a nickname. Jamie didn’t sound like he knew him at all, but was just trying to sound cool with Quinten.
Fishbourne Is actually a famous actor. Not as much as Samuel but hes famous AND has had some important roles in movies. Instead of saying "fish who" you should ve saying "Madsen who" because Madsen Is the ONE who isnt famous. At least fishbourne Is a cinema movie actor whose movies aré shown in theaters. Madsen Is just a TV/DVD actor whose movies aré shown only in crappy TV channels Like Hallmark channel AND Golden choice
And then Samuel l. Jackson went on to be in 99% of all the movies ever.
Tavita Tata
lol.. right?
100%
He was so good in 187
What’s in your wallet 😂
He was even in Jurassic Park, Coming to America, cameo, gunman.
This makes Sam Jackson being mad at people thinking he's Lawrence Fishburne even funnier.
Damn, there were a few sentences Quentin said where Jamie forgot to say "right" or "wow." Don't relax like that Jamie. You gotta say at least one word every 5 seconds please!
Thanks, always nice to have your poking appreciation Mr. Bollox :)
haha foxx, pump, & fuck all in one awesome sentence. Nice!
LOL!
Haha
Quit messing with Jamie. I think he's speaking quite well considering he's got Quinton's balls in his mouth.
Quentin putting on his ‘black’ accent again.
his mom's best friend is black. He grew up with Big D who told him the story about the moors conquering Sciliy.
Yeh it's so cringe when he does that.
I approve
Hate that shit.
Everytime Quentin's around a clique of black people he turns into Aunt Jemima.
Interesting how Samuel L Jackson became what Fisburne's people wanted Fishburne to be.....
Wym by that

Rick Harding right I get it now
Pulp Fic is Jules story.
Ime Prezime it really is... He has the most significant and real arc in the movie, if not the only arc.
Man! I would have loved to see this with Madsen
Thank you Larry!
At first he starts the Superfly voice, then he drops it for a bit and i thought ok good. Then he starts again lmao.
Thank God someone already said this. The whole time I was like "why tf is he talking like that?" lol
Maybe he thinks black people like it?
Trevor Bowie that’s probably it, that or he thinks he’s cooler doing it.
@@simonpeter5032 He is from Tennessee...
A lot of guys who grew up in a mixture of black and white tend to talk different depending on who they’re with QT grew up that way
Jamie Foxx is the Jamie Foxx of interviewing.
Maybe that's why Fish took a chance on The Matrix after losing out to Pulp Fiction.
Purefoldnz after turning down pulp fiction and then die hard he did the movie fled with frickin Stephen Baldwin which was awful.

Wow I could totally see Madson playing that part. He would have also been great as Vega.

Michael Madsen played Vincent Vega in Reservoir Dogs. I always wondered why QT didn't have him play the same character in Pulp Fiction. Now I see why.
😂😂
Beatnikman. No, Madsen played Victor "Vic" Vega. Travolta then played his brother Vincent Vega.
Oh.
it's weird to see anyone who was in battlefield earth actually doing another movie after that.
great interview, thanks
Sam Jackson brought a kind of sense of humor to it that I doubt Fish could have I think would have been more menacing
Like Jimmy Jump in King of New York.

That's life.
Where is this clip from? Where can I find this full Tarantino Jamie Foxx interview?
TARANTINO is a Rock Star !
6:13 Ohhhh, no. Larry, Larry, LARRY!!! Jamie is hilarious😂
I couldn’t imagine Pulp Fiction without Sam Jackson

Michael Madsen's character in Reservoir Dogs, Vic Vega is the brother of Vincent Vega in the Tarantino Universe

But Vic Vega was shot to death 3 years prior.

How would have Madsen danced the twist ?
