Tengah is quite big, meaning we will be seeing a LOT more services introduced in the future. It’s also nice that 870 & 992 becomes bidirectional, really helps with commuter flow (saying if one direction encounters higher demand, easier special departures). Other services from other interchange can extend here to connect Tengah with other parts of SG. Lots of potential for Tengah & future ITH!
Nice Video! I am definitely excited about the Tengah Bus Interchange! Tower Transit is the sole operator of Tengah New Town and Tengah Bus Interchange. It will operate the bus interchange firsthand after the Jurong Town Hall Interchange wor. Also, the new bus service 871 will greatly benefit the residents of Tengah and other neighborhoods since it passes by many locations along their routes.
JTH is in JE planning area which was inherited by TTS. TTS had control of Tengah town from Day #1 pretty much like Tibs in Yishun. Sure, SBS had 171 but feeders and all other trunks were introduced by Tibs.
A new start for Tengah with another bus interchange coming after the Jurong Town Hall Interchange since November 2023 🎉🎉 Tengah is now basically the 'West' version of Punggol then. Singapore still have a handful of normal 'open-air' bus interchanges (excluding temporary ones like Woodlands or Jurong East) still active today which is good (with Tengah interchange joining in)
In theory, yes, from Tengah to the CBD, taking 871 to Beauty World and transferring to the DTL is indeed the fastest route if your destination is Chinatown, or transfer to 130 or 133 at Bugis if you are heading to the financial district. However, if your plan involves travelling on the NSL, I would still suggest taking service 992 to Bukit Batok and transfer there. Honestly, after a long and grueling work day, the last thing I want is to STILL walk a long distance to transfer to another bus to get home. My hope for future bus routes in Tengah is that we get routes that directly connect to an existing line, much like the 3 routes to terminate at Tengah (870 to the EWL, 871 to the DTL, 992 to the NSL). As much as the MRT is fast and convenient, inter-station transfer is really the biggest knock on the current system at the moment. If this is the case, I'd much rather take a bus route that leads me straight to the line I want to ride on. Makes sense, no?
Whats gg happen to 993, I very sure the renumbering to 99X series is for a reason. Anyways have a feeling 871 will be amended to beauty world ITH when its open looking at its routing
@@AridChannelOfficialSG it makes no sense for 993 to be grouped under Bukit Merah when it goes nowhere near the southern region. 160 I understand. It is intertwined with 170.

Tbh most svcs that loop in interchanges are either due to the svc being run by a non-majority operator without office in a bus interchange, or there is little space left in the bus interchange for buses to park. Given the abundance of bus lots in JTH and Bt Batok, 870 and 992 can remain bidirectional

870 and 992 are the shortest bi-directional trunks.

And BTW they should build a shelter on the BT Gombak side.... expect more resident traffic on 871

Tengah bus Int is quite a distance away from plantation mall. Hopefully there will be an Integrated Transport Hub
There will be, in the future
Nice! Definitely excited for a new interchange after JTHI!
BT BATOK ST 52 is narrow but 945 had bendies. Still, would be wild to see double deckers.
There is no bendies currently on 945

Interesting that 871 goes around Tengah Park instead of directly leaving for Bukit Batok.
Better serve the Tengah Residents, bcos currently no MRT to help residents go to main interchange/other MRT
Should amend 174 there as well
171 should also be extended to Tengah.
