You can also put the shower head in a big enough container pour warm water baking soda and vinegar let sit for 2 hours. Then rinse good put shower head back on turn hot water on for a few minutes. Drain should be cleaned every other week for best results

Didn’t wipe with sponge before putting the bag over it, is it necessary to do that. also does it have to be straight hot water afterwards to flush out or is look-warm water ok. I left it on for about 15 mintues but now the water seems to come out of shower head at first slow but then recoups. Did I do something wrong, should I just redo and leave in long. I have a morn old style shower head it’s chrome plated, with polished, brass, so I’m not sure how long I can leave the vinegar on for
Sponge isnt necessary it just helps loosen debris. But the hot water is. The hotter the better really, to help get that crud broken up in the pipes of the drain.
I did this to the shower head and now it looks like new, but the water pressure is very low now? Like it clogged it from the inside or something. Now what? Gotta get a new shower head?
@@bu3840 Think of how when you place your thumb over the opening of a hose. The pressure is the same, but the force of the water has been increased. The same thing is happening with the showerhead. Normally there are say, 20 holes the water is allowed to escape through the showehead. Since a bunch of those holes are now being blocked by gunk from the water that same pressure is now escaping through 15 holes. Same pressure with less outlets results in an increased force.
Unscrew the shower head, or better yet, install and shower handle and you don''t need to tie a bag around it, just leave it in a small bucket with water/vinegar.
It varies based on your water pressure and water type. Our best recommendation is once a month! Mineral or limescale buildup is more likely to occur in households that use high-pressure water, and hard water with a lot of dissolved minerals can clog the nozzles. In those two instances, it is best to clean more frequently.
Sounds great. Except for the boiling water down the drain part. I was told to never pour boiling water down tub/shower drains. Maybe it's ok if you don't use much. I'm not a trained professional. 😉
@@yolandagraham3151 That's never happened with me at all and if it has, I would have heard about it from my father since my bathtub is right above his closet. All of his clothes would have been soaked so, that's not true.
Step 1 start with a brand new freshly installed shower head. Step 2 scrub the shower head without actually scrubbing the shower head. Step 3 No need to proceed as you started the process with a perfectly brand new shower head that has 0 issues to start with. Step 4 enjoy a cold beverage on the couch as you feel accomplished for doing absolutely nothing productive ..
Who ever thinks using vinegar and baking soda can clean thing the natural way is stupid. I rather use actual chemicals that can get the job done the first time and the right way.
GhostReaper2043 It actually does work, but I tend to scrub like a maniac. True, vinegar’s natural acidic properties work well for SOME things but not for all. Clorox for thoroughly sanitizing and bleaching porcelain stains out, for example, is perfect. I use it on my kitchen sink and countertops as well as my bathroom surfaces.
Thank you. It worked perfectly. I did it with the bag and left it on for 8 hrs. The shower head is completely clear. Thanks Again!

Some shower heads are different
Super helpful, pretty impressed with Video coming from a big corporation. Props
So... you can just unscrew the shower head... and you won’t need any bags..

That means the gunk in the shower head was increasing the water pressure. Now your shower head is working as intended

Is it okay to use apple cider vinegar?
Won’t work as good. Best distilled white vinegar
Thx Boss!

Mine does not unscrew - seems glued on. I live in an apartment.
This works but most shower heads screw off in 10 seconds with no tools. Why not just take it off and put it in the bag
How often should I do this?

Boiling water will melt the PVC as it melts at 140!!!!!
rap freak you should not have that problem with the shower head. If you have it, you have junk plumbing and a crapy shower head ...
Ovidiu Ciuparu they tell you to put boiling water drown the drain which is what my comment was in reference to.
Learn what Channel Locks are, buy a pair, use to unscrew shower head. Endlessly profit from the superpower of handtools

Correct the pipes can bust with boiling water.

“Your shower gets used every day.” - Nope.
Same. I mean, every three days or so or when I clean the bathroom, which is once a week so, that's maybe 4 days?

GhostReaper2043 Why do you say that?
Yeah I tried it on my drain, and even took hair out of it. Doesn't work.
Lowes sells CLR. Not sure why they dont just endorse them instead.
