Couldn't agree more, Rosie. The LGBT community is even less accepting of bisexuals than the general community and it's endlessly frustrating. Lesbians don't want to have to compete with men and I can understand that fear, but it makes it really difficult for Bi girls to establish credibility. It certainly doesn't help our credibility when drunk girls at the bar make out with girls for male attention and says they're bisexual. True bisexuals are harder to come by, but no less capable of honest and loving relationships with women than lesbians are.
I think bisexual women have such a hard time! I'm lesbian, but i'm so tired of the lesbian community (well not all of course) slagging off bisexuals! It needs to stop! I commend you for sharing your story. Society needs more people like you who actually talk about what you are feeling! You are brilliant! Take care, and keep on being you! One of my life goals is to change the way people view bisexual women (i'm in academia, so at this point I think I can change the world lol but prob won't happen lol) , so I hope I will be able to contribute to the bisexual community and make people realize that it is a natural thing and people in the gay community (that includes all gay/lesbian/bi/trans) will not have to suffer as much as the previous generation! You and Rose are brilliant and so bloody funny! Thank you for being so open about your feelings. Take care.
I'm bisexual as well, and this is the first time I've ever heard someone say all the things I've been going through as far as discrimination goes. I'm so glad that this video exists, and hopefully it can educate some people.
There was a quote from season 4 of Orange is the New Black, and it goes: "I'm attracted to people, not genders." And I think that just about sums it up.
It's pretty pathetic when people try to erase bisexual identities. The "if you're with a woman, that makes you a lesbian" comment particularly bewilders me. It's like saying, "you're eating a salad, that must mean you're a vegetarian".
Personally, I think people don't choose their sexuality. That being said...even if sexuality was 100% a choice, it still should not matter and your sexuality should not be used as an excuse to judge and abuse you. What consenting adults do is between them is no one's business as long as others are not harmed.
I don't understand why a lot of adults think that when children/teenagers say they are bi, or gay, or anything apart form straight, that they are wrong. I haven't once herd an adult question whether a child/teen were sure they were actually straight; if anything I see straight relationships with young people encouraged, no questioning whether they are old enough, or know themselves enough.
Plus that bisexual women (!) are often sexually objectified. As surprising as it is, my life's purpose is NOT to please or try to appeal to the men around me.
I was actually straight and I am like 100% sure of that then suddenly I saw a girl and fell in love totally.. People always ask me why and how.. People are not satisfied when I answer them "I just fell in love with a girl."
I'm a lesbian and I dont understand how a gay person, who knows how's like to be judge for something you cant actually change, judge someone else. I couldnt have said it myself better, your sexuality doesnt change when you're single or when you're in a relationship. It's not about the gender, is about the person.
I can't thank you enough your anger reflects mine so accurately. Honestly I can't stand it sometimes. I'm bisexual as well but I have a boyfriend, and I love him a lot, I have had sex with women and sexual experiences but have never had a female partner and I genuinely feel pressure, and people insinuate that I have to have had a female girlfriend in order to be bisexual like I have something to prove. Not to mention people just calling me straight. "But you have a boyfriend?" YES IM FUCKING BI AS IN TWO AT THE SAME TIME. LIKE BI-FUCKING-LINGUAL. If someone speaks both English and Japanese no one tells them that while they're speaking English that they don't speak Japanese. "But you're speaking English"
As a lesbian even I can tell it must be so much harder to come out as bisexual because coming out as gay you have the full support of the lgbt community to rely on but as a bisexual there are so many gays and lesbians that don't accept bisexuality. It's ridiculous really because so many of us struggle to accept who we are and crave the acceptance of others yet some people still have the nerve to make someone feel ashamed of who they are :( like I said before I'm a lesbian but if I see an attractive guy I feel like I need to keep quiet about it because my straight friends don't accept my opinion on men because I'm gay :/ everyone just needs to stop being so judgemental and let us love who we love!
Bisexuality is complicated and this video is a really accurate portrayal of the struggles of growing up as a bisexual teen girl. The feels are real.
my ex boyfriend was the same with being okay with me kissing girls. not afraid at all that i'd run off with a girl. now im dating his ex

I came out as bi today. I'm 13 years old, and my parents totally excepted it. I'm so happy. I did it.
and now, you are married with a woman. proud

I'm a lesbian and everyone says that I'll end up with a man.. doesn't make any sense to me.
Plus that bisexual women (!) are often sexually objectified. As surprising as it is, my life's purpose is NOT to please or try to appeal to the men around me.

When I came out to my mom she's just like,"I don't care I still love you." And gave me a hug. Best mom ever!

"Love is not a choice, so just give in, girls love girls and boys."
