My first ever card was Traveler's Cloak. I had just moved to a new state, and at a new school, and all I had was a bunch of Pokemon cards. No one played Pokemon there, but I saw some kids playing Magic at lunch and they were cool with me watching. It was crazy, they played what they called 'Lightning Round' because we only had so much time at lunch. You started with 7 cards, no mulligan, unlimited land drops each turn, all creatures had haste... Holy crap was it aggro lol. But when my older cousin found out about it, he gave me one of those like... 5 row cardboard boxes FULL of bulk Magic cards. The first card I picked up was Traveler's Cloak, and my first deck was a Dimir Landwalk / Flyer deck that usually lost because most of the deck was card draw and cantrips so I could keep up with the crazy speed we played at. Those cards where lost to time, we moved later that year and just couldn't justify bringing a huge box of cardboard with us... But I kept my first 2 decks, the other was really just a pile of goblins and mountains that I dug out of the box XD
I remember getting vizzerdrix when I was way younger, but my folks didn't like the asthetics of the game so I got rid of my cards. Then, when I picked it up again I got Elenda, the dusk rose and I'm still running her as a commander to this day!
My first card was Snake Pit! A friend in the neighborhood gave it to me. We used to play on top of an electrical box lol. The art is what made me fall in love with it
My first cards ever were a sixth edition booster pack given to me at a game store as a kid, wish I remembered what all the cards were now, but at the time I didn't play and just held onto Bog Wraith because I liked the art. I got hooked for real a few years later when Magic Online came out. great game guys, that surprise hatred kill was nuts. I'm real pumped about foundations, feels like it's a call back to the OG magic I know and love
Them making foundations shows me they can make great sets if they really think about the core of what is magic. No detectives, no cowboys, just dragons and angels and counterspells and such
My older brother gave me two boxes full of Magic cards from 3rd edition through Mirage/Visions. The card that blew me away was Shivan Dragon - been a red mage ever since!
the most memorable of a bunch of my "first cards" i had went to my lgs and bought a 10inch bulk pack for like $25 and it had like 3 seraph of the masses and 2 triplicate spirits in it so the first kitchen table deck i ever built was a poorly built mono white convoke deck
My first cards were the mono-white Equipment starter deck "Little Bashers" from Mirrodin that I just played kitchen table with friends. 20 years later and Voltron is still my favorite archetype!
I don’t remember the first card that I got. But I started playing on arena and built a life gain deck. That was the first deck I put into paper. It had a Soren planeswalker and ajanis pridemate.
my first introduction into magic was a buddy convincing me to buy the obuun precon deck to turn into the angry jellybean himself omnath, my oldest of decks. also thank you for showing the power of gornog, been debating trying to build him
I remember getting a box of cards from my older brother when I was about 10, he himself had gotten that box from an older boy in our Boy Scouts troop. Of all the old cards in that box, the one that stood out to me the most was Natural Order. As a little kid, I was perplexed by its wording as I interpreted as "Sac a green creature, get a green creature, lose 4 mana in the process", essentially. But over 25 years later, Natural Order, the very same piece of cardboard, is the center piece of my most signature edh deck. I remember Crash of Rhinos too lol!
The hardest part about magic is learning that losing something small to gain something big is how you typically get ahead. The one step backward two steps forward mindset is hard. Like fetch lands and shock lands seemed so lame to me as a kid. Obviously, we know they are some of the best. Someday maybe I'll get a foil reprint of Crash of Rhinos, haha, I doubt it, but it would be hilarious.
My first deck and cards was the phantom spirit deck from the judgment set. It was an auras enchantment deck and was pretty fun to play back in the day. The deck came with an original printing of Mirari's Wake, I traded for a second Mirari's Wake for the deck. The deck no longer exists now, but I still have those 2 original Mirari's Wake cards. It has been reprinted several times and I have it in every commander deck with green and white.
My first cards were several boxes of the M19 free half-decks. They had a 30-card deck in each color with just a bunch of really bad cards that you could mix and match, a lot like jumpstart actually. The two big bombs we loved to play was Serra's Guardian and Aggressive Mammoth.
@@KingdomsTV Not only cheap for them, but they have made back their money in orders of magnitude from me at least. What, I don't have a problem, you have a problem! lol
My introduction to MTG: I bought a random pack of Weatherlight and my first card I ever opened was a Xanthic Statue. I was intrigued by the art and wanted to learn more about the game, and I've been hooked ever since!
Gornog the GOAT, instantly built him the second I saw the spoiler and the deck is unbelievable. Dillon playing slow had me disappointed, but it turns out that he was right all along. That finish was clean. Close, but clean.
The whole group chose the commanders we wanted to play and then it worked out that this pod had all red and black based on schedules. The next pod has more colors.
I have a Juri deck which is very similar to that Evereth deck. I've put Evereth in the deck, but I'm still going back and forth over which of the two to make Commander.
My first card was when my friend was trying to get me into the game, he let me play his Chishiro deck, then gave me Halana and Alena, Partners after the game to get me started on my own Chishiro!
I was a yugioh player and some fellow nerds were playing magic and it seemed interesting so i bought an m14 intro deck with jace's mindseeker hoping to mill people but i also splurged and got a cyclonic rift for $4.28 and then never won a game with the deck :)
My first deck I ever built and played was a Golgari back with gatecrash. I remember really liking Immortal servitude and Wight of precinct six. Really badly built of course though, I understood magic far worse back then, and I hardly understand it now! 💀😂
As for how I got it, I had a friend at the time who convinced me to get into magic so they'd have yet another person to play with. I loved the card art tons even back then though and often picked cards because they looked cool haha.
as soon as i saw evereth printed , i went , OH MY LORD.... RAKDOS DOES NOT NEED MORE OF THIS STUFF>...(love the card ,lol) i acutally put it in my STREFAN ,M.P. *vampire tribal deck with, blood tokens to cheat out big vampires...) super fun Pre-Con Deck out the box , i couldnt help myself to upgrade it, and i barely had to cause it was so good already... i think i changed 7 lands.... and like 10 cards....great deck...(and the upgrades werent more then 40$... edit( first card i ever got .... SERRA"S ANGEL , given to me by a older friend who was getting us into magic to play) he owned like 6 black lotus's at the time..
I still have never owned a black lotus. They keep getting more expensive though so I'm not sure it will ever happen. Its all good though as I wouldn't have a place to play it anyways.
That was an editing mistake! I didn’t notice that unfortunately. It was actual an infernal grasp. If you zoom in you can see the different art. You can also see that I lose two life after casting it. Sorry for the mixup!

Super cool origin story!
I remember getting vizzerdrix when I was way younger, but my folks didn't like the asthetics of the game so I got rid of my cards. Then, when I picked it up again I got Elenda, the dusk rose and I'm still running her as a commander to this day!
Vizzerdrix has always been one of the weirdest creatures.
Vizzadrix was my first card a friend of mine gave it to me and its what started my intrest!
My first card was Snake Pit! A friend in the neighborhood gave it to me. We used to play on top of an electrical box lol. The art is what made me fall in love with it
I love these memories!
Ball lightning was the first card I remember just taking over games. So much love for that card and the OG art
Still a bit scary to see coming your way
Admiral brass, unsinkable from the precon. First deck ever upgraded and built. Still a favorite deck to play.
Pirates were a great add to Magic
My first cards ever were a sixth edition booster pack given to me at a game store as a kid, wish I remembered what all the cards were now, but at the time I didn't play and just held onto Bog Wraith because I liked the art. I got hooked for real a few years later when Magic Online came out.

Shivan Dragon had always basically been Charizard to me
First set I played was OG Ravnica, learned by drafting with friends and the first deck I remember drafting included Firemane Angel!
I've always loved the ravnica angels
Love seeing this group of guys 🫡
Woot!

Love this!

Voltron is the purest form of commander imo
I don’t remember the first card that I got. But I started playing on arena and built a life gain deck. That was the first deck I put into paper. It had a Soren planeswalker and ajanis pridemate.

It was underestimated to our own demise

My first card was actually a box of cards that a friend gave me just to start playing. Best idea ever!
Best of friends
had me with the “wife”-fu line. Respect for not beating around the bush and just saying it. 😂
I don’t hide my weeb or nerdiness anymore! 😂

I remember that deck! Judgements was an underrated set. I loved it and torment where colors where explored separately vs always complementarily
Yup. Editing on this one was choice!! 👏🏽👏🏽🫡
😎

Those free decks should be done more often. Its such a great way to get people into the game and so cheap for wizards.
@@KingdomsTV Not only cheap for them, but they have made back their money in orders of magnitude from me at least.
What, I don't have a problem, you have a problem! lol
My first card was from a revised starter deck. The memorable one from that was the craw wurm, obviously :)
I’m sad for craw Wurm but it will always be remembered
Definitely got a Sea Monster (Tempest) from a friend in junior high.
Wow, that brought back some memories!
My introduction to MTG: I bought a random pack of Weatherlight and my first card I ever opened was a Xanthic Statue. I was intrigued by the art and wanted to learn more about the game, and I've been hooked ever since!
Super unique intro to the game!
Gornog the GOAT, instantly built him the second I saw the spoiler and the deck is unbelievable. Dillon playing slow had me disappointed, but it turns out that he was right all along. That finish was clean. Close, but clean.
The turtle & the hare!
Wish we saw more colors in this game but idk what cards are in Jumpstart lol. I built an Alesha deck from Foundations so I'm stoked to try it
The whole group chose the commanders we wanted to play and then it worked out that this pod had all red and black based on schedules. The next pod has more colors.
I didnt have faith in this set, but it turned out to be pretty cool
Same!
Any chance of getting decklists for the commanders in the vid? Would love to see how all of these are built ^_^
Check out our moxfield profiles or come join the kingdom / discord! We discuss the lists and more there.
I have a Juri deck which is very similar to that Evereth deck. I've put Evereth in the deck, but I'm still going back and forth over which of the two to make Commander.
I love decks that you can swap commanders
My first card was when my friend was trying to get me into the game, he let me play his Chishiro deck, then gave me Halana and Alena, Partners after the game to get me started on my own Chishiro!
Friends help friends into mtg!
Hey folks! The First mtg card I've got was an Arcanis, and I still have It! It was a blast, now it's my relic!
Drawing three cards is always good
First deck was a 2019 Core Set Liliana Planeswalker deck. Was taught by my friend, and just couldn't wrap my head around combat lol
There is a lot of nuance for sure
Hey fellas! Have a blessed weekend all!
Thanks, you too!
My fisr deck was a green 7th edition elf deck with elvish champion as the star card! Loved it.
Great game guys, thanks
Forestwalk was so good
@KingdomsTV yeah it was, got me a good few game wins that did 😁
It's important to play with different colored sleeves with so many Revs hehe.
Truth!
I was a yugioh player and some fellow nerds were playing magic and it seemed interesting so i bought an m14 intro deck with jace's mindseeker hoping to mill people but i also splurged and got a cyclonic rift for $4.28 and then never won a game with the deck :)
Haha, I often buy a good card and it doesn’t make a huge difference too
My first deck was the Eowyn precon from my friend, I traded my budget Yugioh Buster Blader deck for it before he moved out of state
Switching games or still play both?
@KingdomsTV Filthy casual for both, I think that's why I gravitated towards commander format so much
How did Evereth die the first time, it had counters?
Editing mistake! It was an infernal grasp.
A very Rakdos video!
Are there other colors? Haha…
I built evereth shes so fun anf i threw rev and ragavan in her build too
Gotta get that cash money!
@KingdomsTV lol ya tho there were 2 cards from murders in my deck that i almost killed my friend with lol bc sacking clues and giving infect is funny
My first deck I ever built and played was a Golgari back with gatecrash. I remember really liking Immortal servitude and Wight of precinct six. Really badly built of course though, I understood magic far worse back then, and I hardly understand it now! 💀😂

I think it was a starter set thing, though it might've been packs. Hard to remember since it was more than 10 years ago now.
Wight was great in standard!
as soon as i saw evereth printed , i went , OH MY LORD.... Sire has first strike no that it mattered lol
Ya he would have at least gotten the life. Not sure why we didn’t realize it had first strike too
How can Carlos Kill Evereth with a Heartless act? Evereth had a counter. He can only kill creatures with NO counters in it or remove 3 Counters.
That was an editing mistake! I didn’t notice that unfortunately. It was actual an infernal grasp. If you zoom in you can see the different art. You can also see that I lose two life after casting it. Sorry for the mixup!
Charbelcher Fail!
Not even one card!
