    As a non Liverpool fan and that Dalglish curler was so special. Kenny Dalglish is a great player in this country. It's no wonder he won so much success at Liverpool when he joined them from Celtic forty-two years ago.

    There is a story behind this game. Bob Paisley who wasn't the best at giving team talks instead pulled players to one side and whispered in their ear. Before kick-off of this game, he did just that. He pulled Kenny to one side and said 'watch that Chelsea keeper, he comes off his line'. Kenny took it on board and chipped him.

    Been watching lots of old Liverpool clips now during the last two months and what strikes me is that much of the Liverpool style today is in many ways like what it was under Paisley. Biggest difference is generally better defense play from the opponents now, and the way players score. That will always be individual. Enjoyable all the same.

      @craiggerrard5117 4 года назад +5

      Not in this season though. The one you are referring to was 1978-79. The Liverpool team of 1977-78 conceded a lot of goals. By the next season a lot of lessons had been learned. You are right to highlight the defensive record, many people think it is just about scoring the most goals but if you can limit the amount you concede to just 16 then you will deservedly win the league.

      @@rybolfc Yeah, i get what you`re saying and i see glory hunters supporting Man city now, but were nowhere to be seen when they were up and down the divisions. I still think it`s ok if die hard fans (fans who love their club with a passion) look out for another teams result on match day. They can have many reasons for doing so. Liverpool and Borussia Monchengladbach for example have a nice friendship. It happens and i think that`s fair enough.

      The European Champions and so called greatest supporters in the land had about 1500 max in two pens nearer to the East Stand. We were mid table old second division at the time, yet taking about 4000 to places like Barnsley and Rotherham. Was in the North Stand over towards the West Stand that day, definitely more CFC in the supposed away end.

      The return game in March you had the two middle pens in the North Stand, we won 3-1 after Phil Neale put Liverpool ahead from the spot if I remember, what was the excuse for your poor turn out, either it was because you were so far behind Forest in the league or the bad experiences on that same terrace in January in the FA Cup.
      You only ever filled the North Stand once, last game of the season in 86 when Kenny scored to win you the league.
