MR .J ... thanks for recognizing one of the most groundbreaking designs in the guitar world ! My 14 Year old son ,Matt is learning to play on a 90 ' s ovation celebrity .... with awesome low action and great tone .....and something that can get bumped around without me having a stroke ... thanks to that lyracord plastic bowl back !!!! I'm sure they won't last ...... YOU GUYS ROCK !!
Bought a Ovation back in the early seventies, had to sell as the money was tight. Now am ok so I just bought another. I like it better than my Martin d28.
Why, I have no clue. After watching a video of Ovation repair and noticed a few others,I started to ask that same question. I have two from the 70's and 80's and they are gems. But after purchasing a Balladeer (more recent model) the top is flacking and the base is detaching itself. What on earth is going on with their factory these days????
I got the bicentennial model. No pick up 1976. Broke it twice, its been on a submarine. Top bowed, a little twisted neck . But plays good stll up to 9th fret . Just purchase a timeless balladeer.. I think it will be the last guitar of my collection.
I love Ovation guitars and I'd love to see those Paul McCartney and Al Di Meola models made again, because I'm afraid that, at least to my taste, they aren't quite nailing it these days.
@stuckatcovidhomeenglish I am tryin to identify a 6-string Ovation electric guitar......it has no identifying marks or model names....Except at the bottom of the headstock it has a VT. It has one three-way switch and two 'volume' controls. Both the switch and the controls are located just below the bridge. The color is all black. It was bought about 8 ~ 9 years ago for about $800.. It is in an Ovation hard case and I do have the original papers, but they have no model number. Thank You for any HELP!!!
Lmao anyone else notice he met someone who went back and forth through time and space, 0:49 is where he talks about it, lmao right at the beginning almost
well, what was it you played? was it a korean model? those are decent and affordable. chinese-made "applause" have some issues. american made stuff is pretty good, and custom shop sounds brilliant. can't paint with broad strokes, ya know.
Best guitars ever made. Have around 20 Ovations. Got the first one 1978 a legend Electric, still playbit everyday.
@0:53 this gentlemen lived time backwards if collected these Ovations from 1983-1981.... yeah, kinda like a Benjamin Button. :-) Great video.
I still have five Ovations myself. Love them on stage or at home. Yup, Glenn Campbell and Jim Croce led me to Ovations.
Super shop! Great Ovations collection

Cool Jay ! As your former Kaman rep, I applaud this ! They are great guitars and you have one of the coolest stores in the PNW ! ~ Michael Bybee
3 now. 12-string on the way! ❤❤❤❤
I have a 1995 Black Legend - Model 1867 - Sounds Incredible. Easy to play. Fast neck. Great intonation. May purchase a new Custom Legend ?
I guess that book is out of print. I love to find one.
This is awesome do you by any chance have the shower bowl Ovation with the white top like country singer Eddie Rabbitt used to play?
Why isn't Ovation making guitars like this anymore. I had the Custom Legend for years then it was stole at a gig I was doing. What a beautiful guitar.

I realized that also. it's almost as if they gave up.
What, no preachers, breadwinners, or deacons? You'll often see Mick Jagger with an ovation as well

There should be a small rectangular sticker inside of the bowl. If there you can reference it with the Ovation chart.

I decided to try and sell my 1966 elite 1768-7LTE. Anyone know what's it worth?
You were in high school in 67? That would make you like 70 years old. Ya sure?

Yes, from 1983 to 1981.... Had to rewind it to make sure what I heard 😁
