Larry Holmes has been saying this for decades, literally. Nothing new, Larry seemed bitter and jealous to a degree that he couldn’t make his comeback as successful as George could. All the business deals also that George managed for himself. Although Larry did manage to fight good fights in the 90’s, and even won some impressive victories, most notably against a prime Ray Mercer. Larry DID manage his own boxing earnings from the 80’s and 70’s very well, investing in real estate and different businesses in his hometown, an example for many other fighters ! I will always respect and admire Larry Holmes as a fighter, these old heavyweights are like heroes to me, despite their human flaws. George did have some exceptionally nice things to say about Larry, in Larry’s presence during their Champions Forever broadcast/dvd of the late 80’s or early 90’s while having dinner together, which also included Muhammad Ali, Ken Norton and Joe Frazier, I think it’s on youtube.
Holmes is so JEALOUS his first career he rode Alis boot straps his second career it was Foreman who he wanted was a second string it's all about money Holmes was the greediest champion in history.
Larry Holmes although a great fighter has always been a bitter man. During his reign we was constantly complaining that he wasn't getting the respect and appreciation he deserved. Holmes was criticized for winning yet underperforming against mediocre competition, as well as having a weak resume. Ducking fighters and not unifying. Holmes is jealous that Foreman got rich, famous and loved by America. Holmes never got the same success or love even though he was a technically superior to Foreman which angered Holmes greatly. The best and most obvious duck is when Holmes didn't want to fight Ken Norton who was nr. 1 contender he called Earnie Shavers and asked him if he could take out Norton for him. Holmes then called Norton and told him that he could get a rematch but he would have to beat shavers first. Needless to say Norton was dismantled in 1 or 2 rounds. Ali actually attempted unsuccessfully to do the same according to George Foreman. Ali called Foreman and asked him to take out Norton who was mandatory and promised him a title shot in return. "I can't beat him, but you can, he's afraid of you". Little did Ali know that he in fact could and did beat him! Foreman and Ali were best friends, so I don't think he would make up something like this to make him look bad. Except for this Ali took on all challengers and beat almost all of them.
Holmes would have jabbed Foreman to death! Foreman just didn't want to fight him because he knew he wouldn't be able to hit him like he wanted to! Foreman probably thought fighting Holmes would be similar to fighting Ali! To much movement, very high ring IQ, quick hands and the best jab ever and he could use the whole ring and fight going backwards with accurate punches that Foreman wouldn't be able to see! Holmes would have destroyed Foreman and Foreman didn't want to take another loss like he did with Ali! It would have been the same strategy, especially considering that Holmes was Ali sparring partner! That was a good thing that Foreman didn't fight him and low ticket sales could've been a lie but Foreman was far from a fraud!
George honestly wasn't skill wise a great fighter. He depended on the one big punch to knock you out early within 3rounds. He wasn't built to go the distance. I don't respect that. Tyson was the same fighter. No skills or stamina, just hit hard.
There is always a reason boxing matches never happen. I dont think any boxer is afraid of another. Your on a direct coarse to fight whoever is available and worthy of that particular fight. I don't agree Bowe was scared of Lewis or Foreman dodging Holmes.
To me Foreman should go down as greater than Ali he's the oldest man to win the heavyweight title meanwhile Holmes was throwing up in his fight against Holyfield. Larry wanted to profit from the excitement that Foreman bought to boxing instead of creating his own excitement. What a loser.
Funny I didn't hear George didn't say anything about Larry so what was he responding to, I think Larry is a little mad about how he is overlooked he doesn't get talk about in all in all time greats conversations.he didn't lose his title to Tyson he lost it to Micheal Spinks when they were both a bit past there prime, but a 30 year old Holmes was a tough match for anybody in history.
That is bs George Forman is the toughest boxer when George Foreman came back and defeated guys way, way, way, younger then George Foreman was heck even know George cpuld probably take Holmes out.(Evander Holifield went to war with George Foreman and could not knock down Big George it was a battle George was still standing at the end of the fight Holifield did get the win but he could not knock out or knock down George Foreman in his prime George would have knocked holiefield completely out. George probably could have gone the distance with tyson maybe even knocked out Mike Tyson.
George Foreman is actually a much better boxer than people gave him credit for, and I recommend this breakdown of his styles in both eras - ruclips.net/video/3GaQswkAHNM/видео.html&pp=ygUkbW9kZXJuIG1hcnRpYWwgYXJ0aXN0IGdlb3JnZSBmb3JlbWFu - and remember, that there's nuance to his style which guys like Earnie Shavers never could have displayed.
Foreman beat Lyle he lost to Tommy Morrison,Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young didn't know Shannon Briggs defeated him or simply forgot Holmes and Foreman were fantastic Champions they should applaud each other not bad mouth one another childish
Am I the only one who's noticed Larry Holmes has spent his whole life moaning about how hard done to he is and here he is In his 70s still effing moaning. That dude will never stop moaning until his dying day.
cor dear its like the film "no country for old men" only reason all these old retired boxers now want to run their mouth is after Iron Mike vs Jake the fake Paul fight...sure big George made more money sponsoring the "Lean mean grilling machine" I know I bought one back in the day. Peace peeps!
Larry has an inferiority complex towards Foreman and he carefully doesn't mention the fact that he and Richie Giachetti his then manager/trainer blatantly rejected an offer from Foreman's management to fight George in 1976
Get your facts straight dude. Larry and George’s careers didn’t line up even though they were only about a year apart in age. George was already Heavyweight Champion before Holmes had even turned pro in 1973. Larry had only been a pro for 3 years and not that many fights in 1976 I believe 20 going in and mostly against journeyman opponents. He also suffered a broken hand in the Roy Williams fight which sidelined him for several months. Fighting Foreman in 76 would not be good matchmaking for Holmes team at that time so go don’t blame them for not being interested in the fight. When Holmes took the WBC Title from Norton remember Norton had beaten Jimmy Young in November of 1977 and before that Jimmy Young had beaten George Foreman in April of 1977. So George would have more than had his chance to fight Holmes had he beaten both Young and Norton. He had already beaten Norton four years earlier so there’s a good chance it would have happened. George retired after his loss to Young. Ok Larry was Champion for over 7 years and George the whole time stayed retired especially after he seen Holmes beat Ali who had challenged Holmes. George didn’t want none of that smoke. He came back in 1987 and was fighting blown up Light Heavyweights and Cruserweights as well as journeyman Heavyweights. His highest ranked opponent before Holyfield was Addison Rodriquez. He didn’t want to fight Tony Tucker, He didn’t want to fight Lewis or Bowe, ge pulled out of Holmes fight in late 90’s because Don King was a day late on getting him is upfront money. He was never interested in fighting Holmes because he never liked fighting guys who could jab. Alex Stewart busted him up with his jab even though Foreman still won the fight his face was a mess at the end. Larry’s jab would have closed his eyes.
Foreman, might be the biggest name in boxing, what you see is what you get. Maybe if Ali beat him, Holmes had a plan also to beat Foreman. Foreman's career seemed to keep going and going and going, check out Foreman v Hollyfield to appreciate this opinion of Holmes hurts Foreman?
Foreman did beat Briggs, typical America so corrupt, thenForeman record would have been 75 fights 68ko four lose that to me will never be beaten it is outstanding record

"George Foreman is the biggest fraud in Boxing History" ... Yup. Gawg got whipped by feather-punching Jimmy Young -- so he knew a fight with Larry Holmes was out of the question. At his best, Holmes was the best heavyweight of the 20th Century. Ali couldn't lay a glove on him. Young got whipped by Ossie Ocasio TWICE trying to qualify for a Holmes title shot. Larry had choice words for Young's (lack of) effort in those fights. Larry was forced to fight Ocasio -- a mismatch nobody wanted to see. If Foreman managed to beat Young a Holmes-Foreman fight would have happened. Larry wasn't lucky.
@@JimSib1 NOPE!!! Holmes did not lose to Renaldo Snipes. He won by stoppage -- but Muhammad Ali DID lose to Neon Leon Spinks and George Foreman DID lose to Jimmy Young.
Foreman is my 3rd favourite boxer behind usyk and Mike Tyson
To be honest big George easily knocked out Larry Holmes he knows it
I would love to have seen Holmes beat George Foreman but Foreman was a big deal. So I have to disagree with holmes
Foreman would of knocked Holmes on his ass in 1974 or 1994.
Huh? Huh!?🙅♂️😂
If you wanna see something funny, watch an angry Larry Holmes jump on Trevor Berbick from the roof of a car 😂
Larry was a great champion however calling George a fraud is just plain stupid
Foreman lost to Jimmy Young NOT Ron Lyle.
To me Foreman should go down as greater than Ali he's the oldest man to win the heavyweight title meanwhile Holmes was throwing up in his fight against Holyfield. Larry wanted to profit from the excitement that Foreman bought to boxing instead of creating his own excitement. What a loser.
Well, not delivered 😂
Tyson beat his silly ass!! Deal with it Larry Holmes!!
Larry's not happy with his legacy that's it
Funny I didn't hear George didn't say anything about Larry so what was he responding to, I think Larry is a little mad about how he is overlooked he doesn't get talk about in all in all time greats conversations.he didn't lose his title to Tyson he lost it to Micheal Spinks when they were both a bit past there prime, but a 30 year old Holmes was a tough match for anybody in history.
But George beat Ron Lyle.
Upset by Ron Lyle? He beat Lyle. Did you mean Jimmy Young?
Foreman beat Lyle he lost to Tommy Morrison,Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young didn't know Shannon Briggs defeated him or simply forgot Holmes and Foreman were fantastic Champions they should applaud each other not bad mouth one another childish
Wow. If real and not taken completely out of context, this is extremely bitter and inappropriate.
Always had a chip on his shoulder.
Larry is still vicious as always 😂
Am I the only one who's noticed Larry Holmes has spent his whole life moaning about how hard done to he is and here he is In his 70s still effing moaning. That dude will never stop moaning until his dying day.
Everyone has their opinion. Beyoncé Wilder is the biggest hypejob I've ever seen.
Foreman kos holmes prime vs prime he was the hardest bas tard in one of the hardest eras
larrys been talking like this about george for years, so at least hes consistant
cor dear its like the film "no country for old men" only reason all these old retired boxers now want to run their mouth is after Iron Mike vs Jake the fake Paul fight...sure big George made more money sponsoring the "Lean mean grilling machine" I know I bought one back in the day. Peace peeps!
2:56 i liked his walking upper cut
Forman was a great champion one of my all time favourite fighters
Larry’s jab would have closed his eyes.
foreman beat shannon briggs, they gave the descision a gift to shannon
Foreman, might be the biggest name in boxing, what you see is what you get. Maybe if Ali beat him, Holmes had a plan also to beat Foreman.
Foreman's career seemed to keep going and going and going, check out Foreman v Hollyfield to appreciate this opinion of Holmes hurts Foreman?
I think you’ll find Luke Partridge is 😂😂😂
Foreman did beat Briggs, typical America so corrupt, thenForeman record would have been 75 fights 68ko four lose that to me will never be beaten it is outstanding record
Holmes just salty again about nobody liking him
Foreman beat Lyle
LARRY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS SAYING..ALL THOSE PUNCHES TO THE HEAD ARE EFFECTING HIS LOGICAL THINKING AND REASONING..HE EVEN SAID THAT HE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL-TIME..OHH WEE..LARRY..YOU MIGHT NOT EVEN BE TOP 10...😂😢😅
And Larry lost to Renaldo Snipes.
@@JimSib1 NOPE!!! Holmes did not lose to Renaldo Snipes. He won by stoppage -- but Muhammad Ali DID lose to Neon Leon Spinks and George Foreman DID lose to Jimmy Young. Good freaking GRIEF man, they had a combined record of 26-5-3.. Snipes was 22-0 when he fought Holmes but didn't have a chance in Hell.
Man.... Come on man. Why disrespect him at this point
Larry is one of the greatest heavyweight champions ever.
But he's a hater.
Rocky Marciano, Ali, Tyson, Foreman.
All of those champions were more popular and likeable than he ever was.
It's not their fault that Larry didn't have a marketable personality.
He needs to let it go.
TRUE fight fans recognize his greatness.
He needs to be content with that in his later years.
And Larry why did u duck Greg page in 82 and 83 u gave up the wbc title so you wouldn't have to face him so who's the fraud.
Holmes is such a bitter hater, dude is just extremely unlikeable.
Larry is just being Larry which is jealous and resentful.
Larry has always been a bitter fighter. Always mad that he was in Muhammad Ali shadow. Always had zero respect for fighters. The Preston didn’t particularly like him and no bones about himself liking them either.
There are alot of paper pripaganda champions in Americas boxing,
Thats why it declined.
Hes looking for a payday from the saudi’s 😂
Holmes looking for a payday
What else you expect from a guy who slapped Ali?
He slapped an old man. What a shame. Whete was he when Ali was prime?
Larry give it a rest already. How on earth is George a fraud. George overshadows Larry and Larry can’t stand it. Get a life George 😂
Holmes great fighter and like most boxers says about as many stupid things as he does good things. I think Holmes would have decisioned Foreman.
Stop that stuff
His name should be Larry hoax, not homes
