Being a Hardcore Hammer fan anyway, THIS "new" steel idea is a game changer! For me, as a 65yr old woman, I like the weight, and also the quality. I simply can't afford cheap crap I've got to buy over and over. I'm rebuilding my Western NC Mountain farm, after the tenant burned both the House and Barn to the ground. This replaces a few items, so I don't need to carry them around all day. Really looks great! I'm checking it out now!
@@sethdunlap9868 Oh it's VERY true! My husband just passed away from cancer, and I don't have the extra income. I'm trying to ensure my kids & grandkids all have a safe place to go if SHTF. To rebuild from scratch at my age isn't easy, and right now, VERY expensive. A quick example of this is taking my 8yr old grandson out for a week's camping trip. I wanted to teach him some bush craft skills, as well as target practice with his new .22. {very exciting when you are 8}.. I got a hatchet from Amazon for about 60 bucks, and within the first day the handle broke, and the blade was trashed. We weren't Rock splitting! It was just tent pegs, and fire wood! Teaching him to baton killed it... I couldn't even sharpen it much. I like to buy what I can pass down. Kinda like the cast iron cookware I've got. It came from my great grandmother and I'm using it every day. Well made, long lasting items is the key to saving money. Especially if you farm or homestead!
I've got a very similar hatchet that my grandfather gave me about 65 years ago. He called it a shingling hatchet. It was for shaping and nailing wooden shingles. A good tool. Nice video. Good Luck, Rick
Just bought one, its the least I can do to support you and all the free content you've put out over the years that ive consumed for free lol. Appreciate the greats of the new generation like you, David Canterbury, and Josh Enyart continuing to pioneer bushcraft/woodcraft!
Shawn, Outstanding Product and Video AF. Thanks for sharing this information and All Your Hard Work and Sharing Your Time and Knowledge ,Experience, Wisdom.
I appreciate your willingness to embrace newer materials into your gear choices. (In an often-debated vein, I absolutely prefer my knives to be stainless, an I have heard folks argue that "Joe Blow" was one of the early trappers/explorers, and he carried high carbon steel blades". Yes, he did. But he also grumbled about their rusting so quickly. We each have our preferences, and we can carry on with a more primitive style of gear, but we can do so with incorporated newer materials.) Once again, thanks for what you do - and for you continuing on being YOU!
Being an island boy from the Caribbean, I'm more of a cutlass or machete kind of guy. But I am definitely getting one of these for my blade collection.
My Navy buddy gifted me a f around and find out version with a belt hoop from which to hang it. I have both the Est-Wing ax and a smaller camper ax. Neither can hold the candle combined with one hardcore Hammer. Very sharp edges and optimized handle. Having used just the inexpensive steel handle, I have never experienced any tool of this quality. It goes above and beyond. But for those that don't compromise, this is a excellent choice and you can't go wrong
Shawn, man, you absolutely 💯 nailed it! ( pun intended!) I'm glad you have made one! Much easier than making your own! Perfect in my opinion! Great piece of kit and every home and bushcraft person needs one, or 3!
You are very welcome! I'm very impressed! These have the features I personally need in what I'm looking for! As you have said before, buy once, cry once! And talking about looking sexy and mean.. sorry bro, I see that everyday in the mirror! Jk, absolutely 💯 love it!
Day 1 review and first impression. I got one from the first run and i am not disappointed in my decision. The laser engraving on the handle and head was definitely worth the extra cost. Having the signature edition didn't stop me from making some stakes and driving them then cutting down a small tree. It preformed better than expected and did the job with ease. Im very pleased!
This axe looks amazing really nice design that thing is awesome if i could afford it I would 100% help support the channel by purchasing one I just personally don’t have the disposable income for it but man that thing is awesome. Nice work!
It seems my work schedule has interfered with my ability to early bird myself into first run Corporal's Corner merch...you're sold out of the first run Companions before I could even try to grab one up. $250 a piece, and they're sold out. I was going to get one as a gift for my brother, but he's gonna have to settle for second run. He's got big shoulders; he'll get over it. I'm tickled to pieces with this level of success you're enjoying, Shawn. I like your no BS, straightforward approach to what you teach. Life doesn't tolerate fools gladly, and we shouldn't get used to it doing so. Hard lessons are usually the best ones. What don't kill ya..... Keep up the good work. Thank you for what you do.
Beaver Bill makes some of his axes and Hawks from 4140, it’s a good steel. I believe jackhammer bits are made from it. This looks nice: it reminds me of the Camp Carver. I hope the make a version with a longer handle.
Esting makes one with a longer handle. It's called a tear off hammer. Most any full size single bit axe will work the same. You just cut the handle. It's called a Woodsman's Axe.
I found a rusty carpenters hatchet made by Estwing in a shed 30 years ago. Sharpened it up, Cleaned it up and freshened up the leather and it's still chopping away. I'll keep my money in my pocket.
Mine arrived today. Camp logo on the handle, back of the head is clean. The finish is like in this video. Chose to smoothen the handle with fine grain sandpaper for my comfort. Very impressed!
Looks like an excellent axe/hatchet. However, my 1958 Machete and 1980 Camp Axe have served me well over the past 65 and 45 years, so I'll keep using these ones.
Hmmm... I just bought a new axe last year and I don't really *need* another axe, but this is VERY tempting. I might just buy one. It's a sweet looking bit of kit for sure!
Looks like a great camp axe. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, i was not able to get in on the first run - pre-orders were sold out when I checked - but I look forward to its re-issue. I may not be able to get a Signature Edition, but it still looks like a well-constructed, well-thought out workhorse. I anticipate great things for/with this axe. Semper Fi! (Edited for spelling)
Looks like a sweet camp axe, might have to get one on the next run, I saw the video around 3:00 mountain time because of my work , I heard you sold out in 3 hours. Congrats man!
I would say the collab paid off. Checked for the first addition 0350 the day after this video went up and those suckers are GONE. Looks like a great axe though can't wait to get one.
This is the type of engineering brilliance I appreciate. Perfect modifications. I have three questions: 1) what is the edge retention like? 2) How difficult is this to sharpen to a real sharp edge for feathering? and 3) why was the handle built out of wood? Was there not a composite material that would be better for comfort and grip?
In regards to wooden handles. I'm sure manufacturer could have used composites but I suspect wood is cheaper as input vs carbon fiber for example. Secondly, from personal experience wood handles work better and are replaceable being readily available. I don't like fiberglass handles as they are dead in my hands and I don't swing as well. I perceive a lack of finesse and power when using a tool with a non wood handle.
Shawn, I couldn’t buy this item quick enough. I understand these were a limited run. Would love to have another opportunity to purchase. The hammer/hatchet I have/use now is an Estwing. Has done the job over the years but beat up. Keep me posted. Thank you!
Looks nearly identical to the council tool camp carver, which I have and love. But I do like some of the additional features that the companion has. I'll prolly be adding this to my collection. Nice axe, for sure
Hi mate As an international fan from Australia with the time zone it’s it’s just about impossible to be awake for your new video and product drops etc. mostly drops about 2am here. And they go in minutes. Any chance of doing an export run of your gear or something similar. Cheers mate keep up the good work. Steve for down under 🦘
Similar to my Council Tools Flying Fox "Sport Utility" model, though it was under 50 bucks. They also do excellent heat treat, but the hammer wouldn't be as good with nails. That said, I'm not using metal nails that often in the bush. Actually mainly use it for making "kindling" for our sauna, which is all that box batch rocket stove needs given it's fantastic efficiency. Thanks for your content, still wondering how to use fire to dry an otherwise humid leaf shelter without overheating in muggy weather like you encountered in an older video. Could a larger ceiling alow for a drying flow through of heated air that would not heat you where you lay? Hmm...

Thanks for promoting a great American made product for survival community. 😎🇺🇸
Crap I don't get paid for a week still, I really want one of the first run.
It's already sold out 😂
How many retakes did you have to do to get the perfect shot of the axe in the tree. lol

@Dragonslayer Haven't run across you on the channels in a while. Sorry to hear and prayers for all the best.
Video was 5hrs old and sold out already ... Very nice! Sad I missed it but happy it sold that quick.

NICE! Feature rich. $250 is steep but quality + inflation + customized = EXPENSIVE! Still a sharp tool. Congrats and luck on sales!👍👍👍
The crisp top edge for striking ferros was a well remembered detail that a lot of outdoor tool makers seem to forget.
Thanks for the midweek video!
Nice looking camp tool! Gotta have one!!
See you Sunday!
"Outstanding " good design, thanks for your time and effort you put in on this tool build, she's a beauty.
Shawn, Outstanding Product and Video AF. Thanks for sharing this information and All Your Hard Work and Sharing Your Time and Knowledge ,Experience, Wisdom.
Amazing axe, Corporal! That looks epically fantabulous! Great video!!!!! 🪵🏕🔥🤗
I have never seen the wooden splitting wedge. I really like the idea! Thanks!
Wow, HH should be proud. You did a great demo.

I love it that is one bad ass tool and I love that you have your name on it love ya Corporal
Its a very simple and handy hatchet. We use to call them a shake axe.
Esting makes one with a longer handle. It's called a tear off hammer.
Most any full size single bit axe will work the same. You just cut the handle. It's called a Woodsman's Axe.
Looks great! Love the design and the weight too! Living on a farm, it's not just for camping alone!!

Thanks Shawn, just ordered one! Congrats on the awesome Collab.
Missed it! Already sold out. I have a fetish for sharp items 😏 so will be getting this hatchet.😍
Mine arrived today. Camp logo on the handle, back of the head is clean. The finish is like in this video. Chose to smoothen the handle with fine grain sandpaper for my comfort. Very impressed!
Best hatchet I've ever seen! Seriously!❤
Thanks
@recall5811 Np, and thank you for all that you do! I'm still waiting in anticipation of you making your very own bushcraft knife lol.
A dream come true - 2 hardcore hammers in 1 episode- corporal af!
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Looks like an excellent axe/hatchet. However, my 1958 Machete and 1980 Camp Axe have served me well over the past 65 and 45 years, so I'll keep using these ones.
Just got mine on order thanks corporal! Super excited to have the signature addition!!!

That is a thing of beauty! I've had my Survivalist Hatchet for over 3 years now, and it's incredible! Nice design!
Wow! That's so pretty

So glad they changed the blade profile the previous ( looked ridiculous) I’ll keep my eye out for the 19” version.
Have my Hardcore Hammers axe and it’s my main tool out in the woods on overnighters.😎
Amazing hopefully I'll be able to get one shipped to the UK🤞
A good axe and hammer can do a lot of work on a bushcraft or survival camp. Love it. Outstanding AF
Outstanding. Reminds me a little of the old carpenters hatchets. Most useful item ever.
mentioned in the video
Great design and ideas!! Very well done!!
I'm appreciating that it comes with a meat tenderizer.😁
I would say the collab paid off. Checked for the first addition 0350 the day after this video went up and those suckers are GONE. Looks like a great axe though can't wait to get one.
Hahah! That's a baddass camp axe! I hope I can afford one in time to get one!
...Aaaaaand, they're sold out. I like that they got the pre-order though. Nice!
The techniques you test save several possible back yard/ back woods/Bushcraft injuries from happening..💪💪

I jumped on it. Thanks Shawn!!! I have a CRKT tomahawk, but this is definitely beefier to keep in the truck.
That is perfection exactly what I'm lookin for to use in my camping
Nice design and would love to have one but me as an average dad of 3, no way I can justify that kind of price
Shawn, I couldn’t buy this item quick enough. I understand these were a limited run. Would love to have another opportunity to purchase. The hammer/hatchet I have/use now is an Estwing. Has done the job over the years but beat up. Keep me posted. Thank you!

Nice camp axe.Cool design and looks well made!
Looks awesome! The improvements over the previous axe awesome!
Well a real big quality improvement. Nice AXE.👍👍
I just saw the video like 4hrs ago on your hatchet and you're already sold out. Will you be adding more? I really wanted one. PLEASE?
might want to watch the entire video
@recall5811 thank you sir, I did jump the gun as I was excited to be able to order one.
Thanks Corporal. I may have to get in on one of these.
The first run sold out in the three hours it took me to watch this video! They have a pre-order up for a second release in April!
Nice axe, excellent breakdown, thanks.
Similar to my Council Tools Flying Fox "Sport Utility" model, though it was under 50 bucks. They also do excellent heat treat, but the hammer wouldn't be as good with nails. Wow, first run is sold out! Good for the company and the Corporal. I still enjoy my survival one. The Very Best…Bill

Wow. That's awesome
