Young man you are wise
Keep it up
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from everything I have read, and from talking to state patrol officers, the CDL limit (26,001lbs) is based on the GVWR, the RATED capacity of your truck and trailer combination. It doesn't matter how much you have on the trailer, if it's rated to haul over 26k you need a CDL.
You are correct. Also if you have air brakes or are hauling a tank with more than 119 gallons or an aggregate capacity of 1000 gallons then you need a CDL.
It's what you have it registered at not what it's rated at does this make sense what that means is you can't haul over your registered weight if it's under 26001lbs you don't need a cdl. Does not matter if it's capable of hauling more. Everyone usually down rates there trlrs for this reason.
Your correct. Alot of misinformation in this video and comment section.
Not true
You can use a 3500 dually if you have the right set up. I run CDL’s and non CDL’s. One of my non CDL is a GMC dually pulling a 32’ PJ. I did derate my trailer to make it work. My combo weighs 15,850 so I can still load a pay load of 10k lbs
Truck GVWR=14,000
Trailer GVWR=12,000.
He’s spot on with the average pay.
Non CDL between 6k to 10k week and after lease percentage fuel insurance and other expenses it’s between 3k to 7k weekly. The CDL your looking at 2k - 5k more a week. My best run with the CDL was 8 days for $17,500 take home was $12,700. It can be done guys. Just need dedication. He left some stuff out but contact him. Bet he’ll give you all the info you need. Good luck to anyone that gives it a try
I’m here in st.Louis definitely watching u so I can get on .I have my CDL just got it
I'm out in Houston and been doing Roadside Assistance while going through CDL school. After getting my CDL, after driving 4 months, I am no longer interested in being a company driver and looking to get my own SemiTruck. To start a Trucking company brand new, my chance of succeeding is low with all the competition, low rates on loads and cost of fuel. I came across this video while looking to startup my own towing company. I figured that I have enough experience with doing roadside assistance, and now I'm looking to put my CDL into use. I went on the website and sent you an email. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Subscribed to see where the channel goes. I got a 22 Ram 2500 and plan on going hotshot in the near future.
I have a 2008 Tundra and I'm looking into doing something like this. I don't have a trailer but I have pulled trailers. I'm just learning about some of the different apps. I enjoy driving and this seems like a good weekend gig to make some extra money.
Great video. I’m interested in hotshot in the near future and your video has been helpful. I’ve got a 2007 dodge 3500 already for camper pulling and looking at trailers now. Suggestions on trailers?

@ hot shot king. Cool channel. Thanks for the info. Quick question: can I use a 3/4 ton diesel pickup with a 40 foot trailer for CDL (in cali) with 12 k axels and still haul over 10k loads ? We already got a dually, but was wondering if the three 3/4 ton truck will handle 10-11 thousand pound loads??
Hey man ! Yeah text me brother 662-832/8340
Just wondering how many hours you are logging avg to make 8500 a week?
are you still looking for drivers, i am wanting to get into the game. want to start my own but leasing on may be the better option to start. im in ohio i have cdl

Okay my guy. This sounds right up mine & my husband’s alley. We are currently D.O.D. Contractors for the Navy. Our current contract should be completed by the end of July, which means we’d love to be on the road around mid-August.
I do have a couple questions: 1. For tax reasons this will be a 1099 aka subcontractor situation…correct? 2. I know you mentioned 35’ min, but what “brand/type” trailer will keep us the busiest? 3. Any “special” insurance or instructions we need to explain to our provider?
Yes 1099, only hiring CDLs right now are you guys cdl??
@@hotshotkings8632unfortunately no. Thanks for getting back so quickly.
I have a 2017 duramax and a 8x14 foot maxx-d dump trailer with 14k axles, is it possible to start hotshoting small loads with this setup? Pallet loads, small equipment, and smaller freight. Trailer weighs about 4k dry can hold about 10 gvwr.

I’m in Indiana and need a truck and trailer… I’ve saved up about 8,000 to get started. What should be my next step?
Using half to put down for truck and trailer and half to buy tarps, chains, straps etc..
You need about 10k saved for emergency at minimum, unless you could get all the equipment without touching does 8k , you could probably make it through if nothing broke down in the first 3 months
Interested in leasing onto MC. But have 26’ box truck.
Me and my brother own a small car lot in Alabama, we have 2 f250s, a single car trailer, a 38ft flat bed, and a 40ft wedge trailer. Would it be possible to do it part time? In the slow times?
If its your only source of income, no. I only run 2 days a week at most, but my insurance is $600 and truck is paid for
@@Duckbutter93u own ur company ???
I just wanted to make sure I heard correctly flatbed no car haulers.

Question Sir.
Being a CDL holder, can you haul using a (2500 Duramax with 36-40’ trailer setup) over 26001lbs? You were saying something about not hauling over what the truck is rated to haul. I have a CDL and plan on purchasing a new truck, didn’t know whether it would be better to get 3/4 ton or 1 ton dually. Thanks
I’m getting a dually it can handle more weight and it doesn’t work the power plant as hard.
I’m getting a Ford F-450.
What is the wait time to get paid for a run on average? How much does one need upfront in capital to get started?
I just got my mc and dot numbers this week and insurance will be active Monday I never knew how much it cost to start up in this industry but my question is what's the bennifts of leasing on to a company vs me finding a dispatch and factor company? I would really like to talk to someone that really knows and decide what I need to do I have ram 2500 40ft deck over and cdl.
I have a 1996 dodge ram 2500 with the v10 that's freshly rebuilt and I was going to rent a trailer will that work I plan on getting a newer ride got to make money first
I have a 2010 GMC Sierra crew cab short box Duramax
Hello my husband barely starting up as a hot shot he has his own truck and a trailer rental 40 ft how do I get in contact ???
First time checking out the channel. Pretty good content Quick question though. Do you dispatch also for people who already have their own authority?
Yes sir, you can run under all of our loads for 15%
I’m in the process of reactivating my numbers so I don’t wanna come off just as a tire kicker.
Just trying to find all the right lanes coming out this good around. Like far as insurance, people who I do business with, etc… Because I’ve been in the hotshot business since 2017 with cars and freight.
But I will continue following the channels and stay in touch as complete everything I have left to do on my end.
I’m out of the Louisiana area also
@@hotshotkings8632 to confirm, this is in addition to the 25% lease on correct?
Also, interested in potentially leasing on; how do I contact you?
Referring to the 15% dispatch fee
Nvm, found your number in the comments and text 😬

Do you dispatch or do we find our own freight? I have a single wheel F350 but no trailer. Do you supply trailers?
I have a CDL so what trailer would you recommend if you do not lease trailers for me to purchase?
Do you get fuel discounts at truck stops?
I don’t supply trailers, I do have dispatch

Hi I’m looking to get a non cdl set up and my question to you is are you still leasing on to your company?
I've been thinking about getting into this. What is the process of loading the loads on the trailer. Who is responsible for loading and unloading.
Someone else you don’t load yourself

Yes sir we sure are! Our website is currently down for reconstruction
I'm thinking about buying a truck but the prices don't seem practical to make money.
You interested in helping a non-Cdl (for now) set up in Canada (Ottawa, Ontario to be specific.). I've got a Ram 2500. I have a full time salaried job so no rush - I also do fencing and interlock - but I've done a few hotshot loads and really enjoyed it. I'd be happy to 'lease on' at 25/75. Lemme know if you get any small loads up here and I can help you out. (Can also meet one of yours at the border at Niagara/Detroit/Cornwall)

What about drivers just willing to haul y’all’s stuff and using y’all’s non cdl rigz.
If your trailer is only rated for 12K (which seems strange when it weighs 7K) and your 2500 series pickup has a gvwr of 10K, you CAN NOT haul a cargo load of 10,000 on your trailer non CDL. You then have a max cgvwr of 22K. You can only scale out at 22K NOT 26K with that set up. Assuming your trailer has a gvwr of 12K and actual weight of 7K, and your truck has a gvwr of 10K and actual weight of 8500#, the max cargo you can haul non CDL is only 6500 lbs !! (including all your chain/binders, straps, tarps, etc. so likely you're closer to 6K cargo capacity)
