Misty, you should have your daughter help you on camera as you work thru her room decorations. She could be your assistant and help press or trim or even sew (if she enjoys that). 😊
Misty, our school mascot is a Whirlwind! Our school colors are green and white, so it would be perfect for a graduate. Floydada, Texas is also the Pumpkin Capital, USA.
Same here my dear. I’m 71 years old and after 4 TIAs, my brain doesn’t work as fast and sharp as it used to. She is indeed a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and knowledge. Blessings.
Finally a quilt that I think my grown daughter would like. Only done in blue batiks and white. Thanks for making it seem so simple. Thanks for a great tutorial!
Remarkable design. Ya'll are very creative! Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to seeing each of the tutorials in this series. Blessings to y'all.
You have brought back some happy memories. When my daughter was your daughter's age 30 years ago she wanted a black-and-white room which was very Avant-garde back then and sponge painting walls was a brand new thing so I let her go to it should paint her walls white and she sponged them and we found a black-and-white comforter and she was happy as a pig in you know what
This is a lovely variation on the lady of the lake. Great collaboration with daughter, so glad she stuck to her guns, so we have this. Tfs, looking forward to more. Hugs, Chel 🌸
I bet your daughter is so excited to get her room all read done I know when my daughter and I did it I don't even know how many different times we enjoyed it so much and I love the whirlwind quilt absolutely love it thank you for sharing have fun doing the room
Beautiful quilt Misty and great tutorial with easy to follow instructions. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I can't wait until the next video
WOW I LOVE this black and white quilt, I thing B&W is so elegant. Looking forward to the rest of this series. Your instruction is so thorough and th3e projects fun. Look forward to seeing the finished room LOL. Thank you.
Very nice. Love the secondary smaller blocks & the two colors. Can’t wait to see the finished results/room. You’re very creative as evidenced on triple play.
Well done Misty. I Love the idea of a makeover. Just in time for my two teenage grandsons. They are going to redo their room at Easter. I will make them each this quilt, chosing their colour. Will post them when done. I can;t wait for next Monday. MSQC inspires me all the time. My only problem is quilting the quilts. There are only one or two longarmers in KZN and also very expensive. Blessings to you and your family.
What a gorgeous quilt...I'm wondering what a layer cake of Island Batik would blossom into if you simultaneously had 1 or 2 or 3 (or however many) coordinating center HSTs ... I may have to try it! Can't waIt to see what's next in this series!
Oh my goodness Misty you did warn about this. My brain had such a hard time with this. I watched your video so many times and you explained it so well. Usually I can follow instructions but man was this hard. As soon as I seen the video I thought I need to make that. Thank goodness for my sister she came to help. It hung on my wall for a couple months now. But now it is almost complete thanks to sis. She is my hero
How awesome! Because of the way the blocks are sewn together, it appears as if there is lattice! How surprising to discover it’s a secondary design!! Can’t wait to see what you are doing next!!
I think I like her variant of the Lady of the Lake better than the original and that orange just gives such interest. Really like that idea especially in a two color quilt. Did I mention how much I like this quilt?😊
You did a fantastic job making that complicated quilt look doable! Thank you, Misty! I know your daughter loves this! I am a bit surprised about her color choices and design! She is growing up too fast!!
Great idea. You need to work on the volume , had to turn the tablet up to the hightest setting to hear your video. Love the work you do❤ keep up the excellent work!
I LOVE this quilt!!!! And I absolutely need to make,it,for, our ,aster bedroom! The digital pattern is already in my basket % but since we have a queen bed and sits up much higher than a normal bed does (vintage furniture that had a creative choice ti make so our mattress would fit😄😄😄) I’ll need to make,it larger so I get a good drop. Thunking I’ll just double the fabric requirements and thst should work.m since it’s Kona (which I also love!!!!) I know I can always get more from MSQC if needed😄😄👍👍. I’ve barely started the video and I’m really excited to see this one put together. Lots and lots and lots of HST!!!!! I’m getting so much better at them the more I see👍👍👍👍👍. Thank you so much!
Misty, I watched this with the sound off. A funny thing, when you are not speaking, the closed captioning system thinks that the whirring of your machine sounds like Applause!
Good Evening Misty, This is such a Fun Inspired Quilt, I love it❣️❣️❣️ I’m excited to see what you have planed over the next three weeks. Thank you for perking me up, 👏👍🥰 Chris
I love this pattern. Thank you Misty and Ashlyn. when you showed the binding accent color and the block, I had a sudden thought. What if you use the binding accent color in the corner-diamond-stones?
Did you use white thread on the front of quilt and copper speckle on back. Front doesn’t look like multi copper on the white fabric? Nice block and quilt!
I enjoy learning all the new tips and techniques you use. The only concern I have about this HST technique is that the sides are now cut on the bias. I'd rather sew on the diagonal so the bias is already sewn and the edges are then not stretchy. Love your tutorials. Thank you.
Misty, love the quilt! I was wondering if you could provide a formula for cutting the larger squares if your looking for a different size for the center ½ square triangles. In your video here you cut a 12" square to get 4-8" hst. Also, can you take it a step further and provide a formula to get the easy 16 hst, again if we're looking at getting a larger or smaller measured square vs a 3" square? Thank you and I hope this request makes sense.
I would HIGHLY recommend 8 at a time blocks. That way, you do not have all sides on the bias which her method does. Look up 8 at a time, Half Square Triangles and they usually have a chart for different sizes. Good luck!
I love this quilt pattern!BUT...Yikes! Every single side is on the bias! This is fine for a seasoned quilter, but please warn beginning quilters to starch their fabrics first or be super careful not to stretch the sides. We do not want to discourage new quilters by having them ending up with wonky blocks. Thank you for wonderful patterns.
But if you are careful then the bias can also be your friend for the beginner quilter it will stretch to male your block fit . Just be careful The bias can be your friend just don’t pull at the triangles and don’t iron them out of shape.
Hi Misty, love your tutorials 💖. The problem is I can't hear you well. For some reason the volume on the videos where you are alone is alot lower than with Jenny and Natalie. Hope you can fix it.
I decided I wanted to make this quilt - immediately- after watching the video, however .. I already have a blk&wht quilt. So I thought purple! No batik! No red! Sigh. You get the idea but NOW I have decided on CHEDDAR!! Question: cheddar & white, or another color instead of white. I'll be using Kona or Bella cheddar. Advice? Opinion?
@@person2463 she did but my block loc squares include the seam allowance so they are 2.5 and 3.5 and finish up 2 and 3 inches, respectively, when sewn in a strip or block, so I was wondering if the 3 " was including the seam allowance or not.
If you observe when Misty is trimming the hst, she said to trim at 3”. Obviously the seam allowance was already included. After sewing, each hst will end at 2.5”. That makes perfect sense since they will cover a 10” space, which is the number Misty stated in the tutorial.
Misty, you should have your daughter help you on camera as you work thru her room decorations. She could be your assistant and help press or trim or even sew (if she enjoys that). 😊

So excited for your daughter, bet she loves it already!
It’s a beautiful quilt. I hope you show her room when it’s done
Thank you for always explaining each step so clearly. This old brain just doesn't get it sometimes. 😊 You are such a good teacher.
Same here my dear. I’m 71 years old and after 4 TIAs, my brain doesn’t work as fast and sharp as it used to. She is indeed a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and knowledge. Blessings.
What a striking quilt. Beautiful. Ashlyn has a good eye and a wonderful, talented mother. Thank you for sharing with us. 🥰❤️🧵🪡
Finally a quilt that I think my grown daughter would like. Only done in blue batiks and white. Thanks for making it seem so simple. Thanks for a great tutorial!
Love this pattern!!!♥
I love this Whirlwind pattern. I like it better than Lady of the Lake. Whirlwind is a great design. Thank you for sharing. ❤
That quilt is stunning
Beautiful job, Misty! You are always so thorough with directions! Thanks for the idea with the pop of color too!
Loving this pattern. Applause to your daughter
Stunning Quilt!
Bravo for listening to your daughter!
The camera work was excellent on this!! And terrific instruction!! Great job to all 👍
Fantastic tutorial! Thank you!
THANK YOU for not calling that little tab a "dog ear"!
I see another designer in the making. Love it!
Remarkable design. Ya'll are very creative! Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to seeing each of the tutorials in this series. Blessings to y'all.

Sunshine?😊
Beautiful quilt! Love the way that you get that different shape from the way you lay them out and it’s not a different sashing
Love the quilt…so classic looking.
This is a lovely variation on the lady of the lake. Great collaboration with daughter, so glad she stuck to her guns, so we have this. Tfs, looking forward to more. Hugs, Chel 🌸
Excellent tutorial!
I bet your daughter is so excited to get her room all read done I know when my daughter and I did it I don't even know how many different times we enjoyed it so much and I love the whirlwind quilt absolutely love it thank you for sharing have fun doing the room
Great quilt all made with HST's. Love the 2 solid colors & would be pretty in any solids colors.
If you trim your HSTs before you press them open, you only have to make two cuts instead of four cuts.
That’s why I love the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers tool!
I love that you use Jana’s Bloc-Loc! I love it too❣️
What a stunning quilt, I love how the technique creates little waste fabric.
Thank you Misty. I love a quilt with lots of details.
I love the pop of color and would have inserted the one block in my version but know my daughter would pick just black & white 💕
This was a fabulous video. I learned quite a bit. Thanks for making it easier to make squares.
Luv black and white quilts great job
I love how you showed how to make the easy 16 hst's. Such a cute quilt!
Beautiful quilt Misty and great tutorial with easy to follow instructions. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I can't wait until the next video
You pointed out the pinwheel but did you notice the opposite rows form a friendship star 🤩? Very cool design!!!
Very nice.
WOW I LOVE this black and white quilt, I thing B&W is so elegant. Looking forward to the rest of this series. Your instruction is so thorough and th3e projects fun. Look forward to seeing the finished room LOL. Thank you.
Great pattern. The quilt is terrific. 🤗
Nice quilt and great job. Very concise instructions and you are very easy to understand and follow Misty.
Hi. I love black and white quit. Thank you for giving me ideas. No body teach does colores. Its great
I bought the material to make this quilt and I’m inspired again !❤

Clicking on the video I didn't realize it was a lady of the lake! But the layout variation and black & white make it so modern! Ty for the tutorial 👍💖
I love this quilt!
Очень красиво, Misty!!! Спасибо за идеи. ❤❤❤
I can do this one for sure!! Thank you.
Brilliant

This is a beautiful design

Thank you for the detailed tutorial. Misty, you are a great teacher. Good luck in your daughter’s room renovation.
I love this quilt and I would definitely add the color block. Great tutorial, thanks!

It wd hv been fun to see the original Lady of the Lake block along side one of Ashelyn’s design blocks so we cd see how she creatively changed it. 😃🌷
It would be nice if your design wall was behind your sewing area, like triple play. It’s easier to follow along
Wow love the black and white version. This is definitely one I want to make. Thank you .
Misty this is so cute. Love your sewing ,pressing, cutting layout big time. thank you
Misty, I watched this with the sound off. A funny thing, when you are not speaking, the closed captioning system thinks that the whirring of your machine sounds like Applause!
You do such a great job!! Ashlyn will love the quilt!! Hope she doesn’t have to wait 4 weeks to use it😍
Does your daughter help sew the squares? She should, I have been sewing since 3rd grade. It fun to learn.
Same! And I haven’t stopped!
Love this. That was fun.
Good Evening Misty, This is such a Fun Inspired Quilt, I love it❣️❣️❣️ I’m excited to see what you have planed over the next three weeks. Thank you for perking me up, 👏👍🥰 Chris
What a beautiful quilt that you created very very pretty❣️🪡✂️🧵💗💕❤️ thanks so much for sharing😊
I looked up the traditional version of Lady of the Lake. I like your daughter's version better. ; - )
Love this quilt. Thank you ❤
Your daughter has great taste in quilts.
I love this pattern. Thank you Misty and Ashlyn.
when you showed the binding accent color and the block, I had a sudden thought. What if you use the binding accent color in the corner-diamond-stones?
Lovely quilt.
His is a great quilt Misty!
Can’t wait to make this! Love your videos
This quilt pattern reminds me of a Lend and Borrow pattern.
Did you use white thread on the front of quilt and copper speckle on back. Front doesn’t look like multi copper on the white fabric? Nice block and quilt!

I totally agree. I prefer to do my HST differently.

@@scrappyquilter8741and you are entitled to do them anyway you want however this is an easy way to do 16 at a time HST.
Hi Misty, love your tutorials 💖. The problem is I can't hear you well. For some reason the volume on the videos where you are alone is alot lower than with Jenny and Natalie. Hope you can fix it.
I decided I wanted to make this quilt - immediately- after watching the video, however ..

Question: cheddar & white, or another color instead of white. I'll be using Kona or Bella cheddar. Advice? Opinion?
Is the spray bottle available on the website somewhere? I was not able to find it
Are the half square triangles 3" or 3.5" before being sewn in?
Pretty sure Misty said 3" .. I now need to watch again, but 3 1/2" be too big, for 3 of them against an 8" hst in centre.
@@person2463 she did but my block loc squares include the seam allowance so they are 2.5 and 3.5 and finish up 2 and 3 inches, respectively, when sewn in a strip or block, so I was wondering if the 3 " was including the seam allowance or not.
You could alway do a block using scraps & see how it turns out. Then you have a model block to use as a guide.
If you observe when Misty is trimming the hst, she said to trim at 3”. Obviously the seam allowance was already included. After sewing, each hst will end at 2.5”. That makes perfect sense since they will cover a 10” space, which is the number Misty stated in the tutorial.
What cutting mat are you using?😊
What size bloc loc did you use? I can't find a 3"?
👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
I was not able to get the thread you used can you tell me the thread number thank you
Isn’t this basically The Lady of The Lake but turned differently?
Did your daughter help?
Why is your daughter not helping make the quilt
❤️🧶👏👏👏😍👍😘🥰
