Her allowing him to move in resets the legal timeline of her being liable for his debts and trust me he has them and that is why he reconnected with her. There is no love on his part. It’s about him being able to make her pay half his debt. My heart goes out to this woman.
Why would you want to stay married to a man that left you and the kids at your lowest point? He got to choose when he wanted to be a parent. He needs to go!

Honestly, it sounds like there’s two sides to the story. It sounds like she was cheating on him or depriving him of sex because of the situation. Because even now, she’s making him sleep in a different room. What the heck? And that’s something that women can’t and shouldn’t do to their husbands. Obviously if a guy is being deprived and treated like that, of course he’s going to leave.
@@charlesg7926 it doesn't sound like she denied him much when they had 4 kids. He couldn't handle the "tough" of 2 sick children, and left. Of course she's going to "withhold" now, until he met the conditions he agreed to when he begged to come back - so he could afford to buy a truck because he's "mooching" off her for housing.
I'm a Type 1 Diabetic like this woman's daughter. My Dad would have done anything for me when I was a kid first getting diagnosed. It's horrible to think a man would do this to his family.
This is why I don’t want or have any kids. My husband and I love it this way. Just focus on ourselves and our relationship with our cute dog. If anything were to go sideways, it’s a clean break pretty much. No matter what anyone says, kids put a strain on even the most solid relationship. Too many women end up being stuck doing the lion share of the household and childcare duties and the men can leave when they don’t want to deal with it anymore. We decided it’s just not worth it for us.
Anyone that leaves their babies is not a person you want to be with.

Because if it is simple enough to get to the bottom of the issue why hasn’t she been able to in 9 years? Surely they’ve tried therapy or counseling somewhere along the way.

I had a couple of work trucks when I was in my early 20s for plowing and working construction ...true _work_ trucks. When I see these pretty boy shiny things with oversize plastic grills and loud exhausts I just laugh and smile all the way to the bank. Sorry if that offends you.

Whenever I hear someone was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I imagine that most people don’t understand how hard that is. Obviously the brain tumor is much worse as it is terminal. But as someone who has type 1 diabetes, it is not a well known disease to know just what you are getting into. Prayers up for this family.
As a type 1 diabetic, I second this comment.

So first, why would you want him back after 9 years. Kids are grown now, and life is easy, but he wouldn't stick around when times were tough. Also, from his point of view, who are you, after being apart 9 years, to tell him what to do with his money when you are essentially roommates that date at this point. This is a sticky situation, and guarantee at least one, if not both, have an ulterior motive

My in-laws lived next to the trailer park in our small town. The first of the month when the welfare checks came the trucks came rolling in. About 4 or 5 days later when the money's blown the trucks go rolling out.

"my kids" are all adultish. Aren't they also his kids that he should have been financially supporting? "actually 'my kids' told him." At no point did she say "his kids" are this or that at him. There in lies the problem with their relationship, if they are just her kids. She never once said "mad at dad" for this.

The man walked out on his wife and the marriage home with four kids (two of whom had significant health problems) and left her to primarily deal with it for NINE years; if there's a victim, she's it! Those actions alone speak volumes about his character!
That being said, they do know something about the guys finances - the ONLY reason the man returned to the marriage home was because he needed a place to stay. If he can't afford his own place, how can he afford a $70,000 truck? You're hearing a snippet, you don't have any idea what was talked about outside of this. You're quick to vilify them and this woman excusing his inexcusable 10+ year track record of abandonment giving the guy the all the benefit of the doubt. Real men stood up and called him out. The man's own FOUR children are so disgusted by his behavior they're telling their Mom to divorce while she's hanging on.

This story seems to be missing a lot of factors. Did he pay child support? Did he pay for things/school for the kids at all? Does he work a job where a work truck is necessary?

I guess it depends on what the truck is for and whether or not he has the money. honestly if the dude has plenty of money in the bank, it is totally okay. After all they're still dating based on the description of things, people in dating don't need to compromise their budget, marriage is different. I guess she's gonna define the stage of the relationship before being critical of his spending. If the dude doesn't have like a million dollar in the bank or in his 401K account while buying a 70K car, that would not be very smart, then he's got bigger problem than a 9 year old ex being mad at him.

Dr. Simp here asked what the underlying issue was and suggested the husband was being too tight with money and said the wife was acting out and suggested that she wasn't safe. Did they suggest this husband wasn't safe and therefore he's acting out? I've seen women have to defend their husbands from Dr simpin'. He suggested that the husband was unfaithful and the wife had to back him off. She walked away with the seed of doubt he sewed. Who knows if it died or grew to full-blown suspicion!
