Corally is junk mate. I bought an Asuga 1/7th buggy and both shock towers bent and the battery straps broke and even the batter tray broke in the first 3 runs. I sold it for a loss and glad to be rid of it cause just like all Corally Cars, they’re junk! This soldering iron looks ok though. LOL
@@stephenpheonix6549 As you can tell from my comment, all I ever did was racing back in the day. And Corally came along with decent race machines that became popular. These cars were only 1/10 and 1/12, so I didn't know about your 1/17 buggy as no one ever raced those.
Eric. Just use 60/40 the flux which is the smoke you see is not as bad as the 100% tin rubbish, plus the lead has a little bit of give in it which stops any cracks in the joint. Also the 100% lead has a really aggressive flux and that you really don't want to breathe in.
I have been doing more and more soldering and gonna check the system I got for how many watts, thanks for the tips, really helps me out as I need the tips...
I use a Portasol professional- small , compact & most importantly..............completely portable for repairs on the go , but, NOICE soldering tutorial Phil , too many people say they can solder , then 🐦💩 🤤😭
I only found your second channel by accident after watching many dozens of videos on your main one. Maybe you should mention the second channel in your main channel videos? Keep up the great work!
When I solder connectors that don’t come apart (like the metal bullet end won’t come out of the plastic connector) I like to plug in the opposite end of the connector that I’m not soldering to help pull excessive heat from melting the plastic and it helps keep the bullet ends straight if the plastic does get a little too hot.
Oh and just so you know. James Watt was a slightly tricksy guy. At least at one time, the steam engines he was selling were outputting 1.2 horse power for anyone else's 1 horse! Guy was a salesman for sure! 😉
Love a good soldering iron! Recently replaced my Crap-on iron that was expensive and not a great performer! With a new Wellergas iron , it’s awesome don’t know why I thought going to the dark side was ever a good idea my last Weller iron lasted well over 20 years!! Used daily as well.
Awesome looking soldering station, Phil! 😃 I just bought a 75w temperature controlled iron! 😂 I get there someday! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
In my case it was bad solder too. Extremely cheap solder will not melt, just burn and make a mess. I didn't buy expensive solder, but just some crap at Harbor Freight worked 10 times better than AliExpress solder.
Buy a Hako it will change your life. I HATED soldering, especially battery plugs. When I started building vapes I had to get better. Come to find out the problem wasn't me it was my equipment. I love soldering now and things like battery connectors I can do in my sleep. It doesn't mean Hako is the only decent one obviously, but I've had many including Weller and I can honestly say lb for lb Hako wins.
Nice soldering iron. I could use somehting that size with a chisel tip. I have had to do larger wires from time to time and with my iron, even though it can get very hot, the tip is small and I end up spending too much time getting too much heat into the wires etc, too slowly. Btw, we solder much the same. Heat first, then solder, pre tinning. Your soldering is fine.
Oh Tommy, my god the amount of cra@p you said there :D not hating though, the wattage is for heating faster, the better heat transfer is because of the different head mate. But altogether it’s a good iron for what you need. If you needed to solder electronics youll need a pointier head.
Pity that the current 'lead free' solder is a total bag of shite. Sticks to nothing metal, but when molten it's very good a sticking to skin. I have two lovely scars on my right forearm from trying to rewire the lights on my car transporter trailer in 2022, when the solder spectacularly failed to adhere to the wire I was attempting to solder, and decided to attach itself to my arm instead. Anybody know where you can get decent quality solder these days?
Time to get a 3D printer too 😊
Great video. Thanks. Was just looking for one and ordered this right away.
Ur influence made me order one
Corally are just an awesome company to be fair.
Corally is deffo a brand I would trust for cars, mostly for racing. But the price isn't too bad I guess at £84. It should last you a good few years.

Great practical video. These are always good for hobbyists like myself. Thanks.
Got one myself great bit kit, hard beat for the price
I agree!

Thanks for the tips, soldering has never been a thing I did well, but you've simplified it for me. I deffo need one of those arm things too :)

He was a hoss thief who swindled everyone out of 1/5 of a hoss !?
Scandalous.
Hoss thieves are strung up round here, pardner.
Giddy yup !
Yee haw !
Nice purchase 😊

nice, and tidy bit of soldering but you do know your stuff

£78.84 not bloody bad might have to grab one and learn to solder
That's a good price 👌
Even looking at these realising it’s my iron and not my soldering skills🤦🏿♂️🔥🔥🤤 nice1 Tomley🤩

Great insight tomley classy video 👍🏼
thought this was going to be my next iron but they don't make one with one with a north American plug only available in 230v
So the question is what are you building that requires the QS8 Mr Salted?
did you not see what was on the work bench ;)
@@tomley_rc OK I'll watch it again
@@tomley_rc Right I can see it. But what is it Please?
MCD 5th Scale ;)
@@tomley_rc looks like a party. The video should be awesome.
Are you in Kev's shop, or does every UK resident have that garage?

yeah and you tend to melt any plastic connectors you are soldering too. I had to make dozens for my cnc machine and my iron wasn't up to the task.

cant get it in north America. sad day
Damn.. It looks great too. Where can we find something like it?
Noice 😮
Good vid sport!
cheers dude
Buy an Hakko and you will forget the need of a new soldering iron for many many many years. Tested on myself.
…thats youtube for ya…trying to squeeze exitement out of buying a soldering iron…
Shoulda went with deans ;)
It's been 4 months since you done a TWAT rc.

I think draper still does leaded solder. It's what I use at work👍🏼
@@BazFairbrother, cheers. The stuff I bought was from B&Q. Lead free was all they had.
First?
yes ;)
You should do a “how to solder” guide. I’m trying to solder a cable to a battery and I’m going shenanigans
He does have a solder vid, probably year or 2 ago
@@INIEILS0IN could you please pass me the link?
