    Corally are just an awesome company to be fair.

  • @wordreet
    @wordreet Месяц назад +4

    Corally is deffo a brand I would trust for cars, mostly for racing. But the price isn't too bad I guess at £84. It should last you a good few years.

      @stephenpheonix6549 Месяц назад

      Corally is junk mate. I bought an Asuga 1/7th buggy and both shock towers bent and the battery straps broke and even the batter tray broke in the first 3 runs. I sold it for a loss and glad to be rid of it cause just like all Corally Cars, they’re junk! This soldering iron looks ok though. LOL

    • @wordreet
      @wordreet Месяц назад

      @@stephenpheonix6549 As you can tell from my comment, all I ever did was racing back in the day. And Corally came along with decent race machines that became popular. These cars were only 1/10 and 1/12, so I didn't know about your 1/17 buggy as no one ever raced those.

    Eric.
    Just use 60/40 the flux which is the smoke you see is not as bad as the 100% tin rubbish, plus the lead has a little bit of give in it which stops any cracks in the joint.
    Also the 100% lead has a really aggressive flux and that you really don't want to breathe in.

    When I solder connectors that don’t come apart (like the metal bullet end won’t come out of the plastic connector) I like to plug in the opposite end of the connector that I’m not soldering to help pull excessive heat from melting the plastic and it helps keep the bullet ends straight if the plastic does get a little too hot.

      In my case it was bad solder too. Extremely cheap solder will not melt, just burn and make a mess.
      I didn't buy expensive solder, but just some crap at Harbor Freight worked 10 times better than AliExpress solder.

    Buy a Hako it will change your life. I HATED soldering, especially battery plugs. When I started building vapes I had to get better. Come to find out the problem wasn't me it was my equipment. I love soldering now and things like battery connectors I can do in my sleep. It doesn't mean Hako is the only decent one obviously, but I've had many including Weller and I can honestly say lb for lb Hako wins.

    Nice soldering iron. I could use somehting that size with a chisel tip. I have had to do larger wires from time to time and with my iron, even though it can get very hot, the tip is small and I end up spending too much time getting too much heat into the wires etc, too slowly.
    Btw, we solder much the same. Heat first, then solder, pre tinning. Your soldering is fine.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 Месяц назад +1

      yeah and you tend to melt any plastic connectors you are soldering too. I had to make dozens for my cnc machine and my iron wasn't up to the task.

  • @itzikca
    @itzikca Месяц назад

    Oh Tommy, my god the amount of cra@p you said there :D not hating though, the wattage is for heating faster, the better heat transfer is because of the different head mate. But altogether it’s a good iron for what you need. If you needed to solder electronics youll need a pointier head.

    Pity that the current 'lead free' solder is a total bag of shite.
    Sticks to nothing metal, but when molten it's very good a sticking to skin.
    I have two lovely scars on my right forearm from trying to rewire the lights on my car transporter trailer in 2022, when the solder spectacularly failed to adhere to the wire I was attempting to solder, and decided to attach itself to my arm instead.
    Anybody know where you can get decent quality solder these days?
