Making of Alma Mater Carolina

During Open Monumentendag, a film about the creation of the new artwork 'Alma Mater Carolina' in Radboud University's Senate Hall ('Senaatszaal') will premiere. Artist Lara Schnitger used portraits of all the (male) rectors in the Hall to create a new artwork and added portraits of female scientists.
The film shows how Schnitger proceeded, why the university broke with the tradition of only portraits of rectors and how this artwork became a much more realistic reflection of the academic world.
