hi, I have a zener diode which has shorted and is bad how can I identify the voltage as there is no markings on them? will above method work?

Can't you test Diodes on the Diode Test function of your meter?? Also, I have a few blue zeners what are they??
This video actually teach us about diode zener breakdown voltage. I liked it but I'm thinking what that potentiometer would do? couldn't we just use a resistor with higher resistance to block the current? I liked this video.
