"We keep driving away thinking that we're actually moving on but once we see on our rear-view mirrors that we are indeed leaving something behind, we rush out of our cars and run back the way we came, afraid of losing something we need to turn our backs on" Then towards the end of the song, the woman finds what seems to be a large bonfire in the woods and a wolf staring at her from across the bonfire. The wolf might symbolize "letting go or letting certain things free" as the phrase "running with the wolves" imply. The bonfire might imply a "total erasure" as to when some people burn pictures and certain objects as a promise to themselves that they've let go of their past demons and things that keep holding them back. All in all, my own take on the song made me cry. It's a beautiful work of art, something the world should relate to during these times :) Some things really make it "hard to say goodbye" because nobody wants to say goodbye.
Beautiful video. I believe the wolf represented her guardian spirit, or the spirit animal of the person she lost or can’t say goodbye too. She was ultimately heading to finish all the pain she was feeling, and the rope was a hint, and her erratic driving. The wolf slowing her down by jumping out. All the stuff that fell out were his things, and his truck ie...the dent in the front fender might be what killed him, and having to open the door from the outside. As she makes her way up, the fire represent a symbolism of being reborn (Illenium ❤️), she can start again, and the wolf on the other side, he’ll be waiting on the other side for her, but it’s just goodbye for now 😭😭😭 Happy Lunar Eclipse, perfect night to have this drop. 💚🌑

I think the wolf could be a loved one who she recently lost. Given that she bought the rope, she probably wanted to commit suicide, maybe to be reunited with her loved one again (she does not want to say goodbye to him/her). How the wolf chases her and stands by the ring of fire symbolizes its loyalty to her, which never ends (just like a ring). The fire and the knowledge that the wolf will always be loyal to her could give her the warmth and hope she needed to stay and not commit suicide.
