It looks like he retired after the Gonzaga loss, but the truth is that he won K1 Tournament, avenged his loss to Gonzaga and even won another mma tournament (Rizin). Crocop's downfall in the UFC was the cage. So much of his style was based on cutting angles in the ring and unloading on dudes in the corner. He couldn't do that in the cage, which also hampered his exellent TD defense.

Cro Cop vs Wandy is the best staredown in MMA history. First time ever someone looked more intimidating than Silva and Mauro's line "Silva looks like he wants to kill someone and Cro Cop looks like he already did" was the cherry on top. The fight itself was ok, we had to wait until their second one to get the epic KO but that staredown is one of my favorite MMA moments ever.

It is said that the city of Split has more gold medals per capita than any city in the world. Incredible talent, discipline, hard work, and mental toughness is drilled into Croatians at birth. It is punished severely with heavy shame if it isn’t adhered too, well that’s been my experience. Oh and BRUTAL honesty is given to you in all aspects of life as a main part of the culture. Not only did he redeem himself by outclassing Gonzaga and dominating him in the rematch, but also Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic also dominated other promotions and events. He didn't come out of Prime But he didn't adapt to the cage and then the injuries.. I know from the interview that he struggled with a hard shoulder injury. Warrior!

my fav fighter of all time together with fedor.Mirko was unlucky cause he started his MMA career somehow old and couldnt develop as good as he did in k1. Imo he should have stayed in k1 ,but thats another story.

Just pips GSP as my favorite ever ! I am from Australia so I have huge respect for some of my South Pacific brothers Mark Hunt and Ray Sefo but Cro Cop ( like all 4 that I have mentioned ) always showed huge heart and character not to mention a skill set from hell !😎👍

A lot of missing details to this story! You left so much meat on the bone! The Nog/Crocop fight was nearly finished in the 1st rd when CC landed his LHK but Nog was saved by the bell. Then Nog made a miraculous comeback. Crocop’s two most popular fights were vs Wanderlei and Fedor! He KO’d Fedor’s teammate and brother on his way to that shot and fought one of the most legendary fights against Fedor! And his KO vs Wanderlei is legendary!
Crocop definitely one of the greatest of all time, and a credit and asset to the sport and Bas Rutten once asked Crocop, "How is it your your kicks are so awesome?" Crocop answered saying that 3 times per week AFTER his workouts, he would kick 1000 kicks so that is 12,000 kicks per month in addition to his workouts so you cannot criticize his work ethic, and awesome athlete indeed.

nog was never nearly koed in the end of the round, after high kick he fell intentionally, to lurk crocop going into guard.
