No lie on those deals. I bought a surplus police USP 45 that came with 16 extra mags (most of which were new in the bag) for 2/3 the price of a new USP. All it needed was a new recoil spring and some new mag springs for the worn-out ones.
The entire flying spider bit from 2:20 to 2:45 made my entire day, your reaction is so wholesome I love it

I like my cop Glock. It’s a G22 .40 cal. I got top gun in academy using it. Shoots great, feels great in my hand, and when we get new guns I’m gonna buy it and take it home.

The Glock store has conversion barrels that will allow to run a 10mm barrel in a .45 slide (G20 to G21 conversion barrel). Same with most other calibers too. If you buy a Glock, you can use conversion for almost all models to go down in size IE 40 to 9mm or 45 to 10mm. Thanks Lenny McGill!
Also can get a .50 GI conversion for the 21

I would be careful with that, I know Glocks aren't 1911's, but, when the first 10mm 1911's were released, they were essentially just .45 1911's made in 10mm, and eventually the pressure difference between .45 and 10mm was causing cracks in the frame. I don't know if Glock 21's are as "beefy" as the 20's.
Wife recently got a very clean gen 4 glock 22 (.40) It was a police trade in.
Almost brand new, was $300 out the door with 2 boxes of ammo!
Now that's winning with tiger blood.
I got a lucky deal on my glock 22 gen 3, I sold my taurus g2c for 280 then seen a guy post the glock for 300 with night sights 2 15 rnd mags and a 22 rnd mag, and also a 3 n 1 laser, and then he let me get it for 280 basically brand new also.

I was pleasantly surprised with how minimal the recoil was with a G21 compared to a 1911. I thought the frame would make it worse, but it feels about the same. Makes me take a fraction of a second longer to ensure I have near identical sight picture when my eyes start doing work while my wrists finish up the follow up.
The G17 is more of a light slap, and the G21 is more of a light push, but I prefer it that way. It’s more comfortable for my hands.
The G21 has the softest recoil out of any 45 I’ve shot. That’s an FNX45, P220, 1911, H&K45, H&K USP.
You're going to have to print something for that 21 with a "Para-Spider" on it now.

Getting a new slide with lighting cuts looks great. I used the apple cider vinegar method to strip the black coating off the barrel and the steel looks amazing now
Thumbs up for flying spiders. There are a few here that do that, usually right after an eggsack hatches the babies will cast their floaty string and go off to find new lands. :D

During the chaos of 2020 I picked up several police surplus Glocks in .40 because 9mm was unavailable and .40 was so cheap and everywhere. When the tables turned and 9mm was back again I bought 2 threaded 9mm barrels and kept on shooting. Now I’ve got some cheap but reliable police marked Glocks that shoot 9mm and .40 with just a barrel and mag swap.
40 is the last to go off the shelf. what most people also don't realize, after 9mm, .40 and .380 are the next two cheapest calibers. when 9mm is $12-15 a box .40 is between 17-20. everything else is usually 25 and up. Like you said a conversion barrel gets you both. fyi for anyone else out there, a freind of mine many years ago bought a police beretta 96. all he had to do to run 9mm was swap in a 92 barrel and swap mags. it ran fine. we were all shocked. this was way back before conversion barrels for glocks were available.
PSR is low key yoked and it makes me happy to see the kids are still taking care of themselves.
I love my G21! My only ragert is that there are much fewer parts for the big boy Glocks than there are for the more common 9mm models, but at least I can swap in a 10mm barrel and magazines.
Even have the potential to run 40 S&W once it's 10mm, for... savings? idfk

Love my G21 Gen 4, also have a 30S which kicks ass as a carry gun. Love my 19s, 26 and 43 just as much.
My first handgun was a G21. I bought it new for $400. It is one of my favorite guns I have. 1911 killer.

That said, many pistols out there are subjectively and objectively, better than the 1911.

Police Trade In Glocks are the best deals in the Gun World. Most of them have rarely been shot and mainly have holster wear. You can get them for 2 times Cheaper than you can buying it new.

I've seen spiders like that and always wondered. Now I know. As for the recoil of 9mm, consider playing with your grain weights and if possible compare NATO spec 9mm (or damn close to) ammo vs your 45. It's noticeably different in my Beretta 92x vs a lot of factory 115gr loads. 125gr 1250fps CORBON rounds are always fun with water jugs &/or fruit
My first Glock was a 17 and I've played with everything in the 9mm line but when I built a G20 I was just in awe at how much more beefier and more fun to shoot it was!

i grew up shooting a gen 2 bacon glizzy. i loved that dang thing. i had a gen 2 G24 and it was so comfortable to shoot. loved it way more than the long slide 9mm (34 or 17L or whichever it was). the long slide 40 kicks so much more comfortably than the 17 or its variants. its hard to beat. and i had that custom stippling job on the old gen 2 brick grip too. although i used grip tape for a long time (we even got it at a skate shop lol). i'm so old now all i want to do it argue with the clouds and try to convince everyone that the ATF is coming for your dogs
The G21 to me is a much smoother gun than the G17. Definitely on my list to pick up.

You also missed the fact that lighter guns are faster to aquire target. I mean, if the small difference in carrying less weight on the belt matters for the cops, this thing I have just said would also matter just as much.

I have a gen4 Glock 22 40 cal. The gun store owner told me a deputy of my local county traded it in for a gen5. It had holster wear. But shoots like a champ

My dad, who has a love for .45, dropped his XDS-45 (horrifc gun to shoot btw) for a 1911 which was weird and uncomfortable to carry, he then bought a glock 21 that already had trijicon night sights installed for around $500 (this was during covid when guns were outrageously expensive), its a good shooter and feels good in the hands, nice and thick like a diary queen blizzard.

As an older guy it's interesting seeing the younger generation react to the .45 ACP, which was the American standard caliber back in the day.

about that used cop Glock: im sure that you have cleaned it already at least 1 time, did you notice if any numbers on other parts of the pistol matched those on the frame?
i was thinking that a guy could buy a surplus police glock and strip it down, then maybe carry the frame with the serial number down to the gun buyback and get some $ for that part while keeping the rest to install on a 3d printed frame. it would be much cheaper than buying a parts kit!
i would never personally own a firearm that had ever been assigned by a dealer. i purchased my first "legal" AR15 back in 1975 on my 18th birthday, it was made by colt and was used, it cost me $250 including 2 - 30 round magazines and a box of ammo.
i traded it in along with a brand new cb radio and $100 cash for a 1968 chevelle SS396 minus the engine, the guy had traded the engine for a set of triple springed square port racing heads that had been milled and cc'd, the heads came with the car and 2 650 holly carbs, this was in 1977!!
every AR since them has never had a serial number!
my wife steffy is from CEBU ISLAND PHILIPPINES, they hand make colt 1911's in the mountains there, but i dont know how to bring one back!
