I think the tiebreaks are usually stuff that is practically impossible to get the same result. Things that can be measured in hundreds of a second, or guessing stuff between 100 and 1000 and things like that. Even if two of them got the same result, that could mess up a tiebreak
There's probably a fair few each series that don't make the cut for similar reasons, I reckon, and they decided this many series into the show they could stick one in for entertainment value.
I was really expecting one of the eggs in the middle to be stuck on with tape or whatever, so trying to just yank it out would have sent everything flying and you had to do the gentle roll off
Seeing them separate a glued on egg without touching it would have been interesting. I was also waiting for a twist because eggs barely roll, which makes it basically impossible to fail if you just pull it slowly, which, surprisingly, only one of them did.
@@Stefan-xt5sk It wouldn't have had to have been stuck on very hard, like its own weight would have been enough to unstick it if you held the paper up, but enough to add friction so the magic yank wouldn't work

Alice - Nervously peels the cloth away wondering if her attempt makes the cut with her "Does that count?" Tim and Liza - Both got lucky from that one egg that hit their envelope.
Little bit of biological trivia being excellently demonstrated here: eggs are egg-shaped so that they do not roll off the surface they're laying on. Quite helpful when you're a bird nesting high up a tree or on a cliff.
@@2GoatsInATrenchCoat I'm not sure, but it's quite possible that the effect is greatly diminished after boiling. Once the inside becomes a homogeneous solid, it seems logical to me that rolls a lot easier.

Technically, they shouldn't have moved anything at all since the letter said "don't tamper with the table, tablecloth, or eggs" moving the tablecloth is tampering with it, right?
Tamper doesn't mean not to touch the cloth or eggs it just means you can't alter the eggs( eg boiling them ) and cloth ( don't know how you would do that ) or damage any thing.
What exactly does "tamper with the eggs" mean? I would assume you're not allowed to hard boil them all and replace them, but seems like you could simply put your hand on top of the eggs and slowly pull the cloth out.
Yeah, I was likw... Just hold the eggs? It applies "tamper" to the cloth and you definitely have to touch it, so that means you can touch them as well. Surprised no one did it
The wiki says there were 3 tasks where everyone got 5 points. This one and last season when the teams had to come up with a socially distanced sport and comment it. And also in series 6 there was a task divided into two. The first part was to have as much fun as possible in 3 minutes and the second part where everyone got 5 points was to recreate the fun
@@myguyry There are other tie-breaks, like "guess a number" that could in theory end up in another tie. They must film more tiebreaks than they know they'll need, to be safe, and so can afford to have some potentially just fail. Then, well, what Andew said, i'd wager.
@@origami_dream Definitely. The lasso task in S9 was famously intended to be a tiebreaker, but Baddiel’s spoon-laden effort was so insane they felt they had to put it in the show. The ‘how many balls’ task in S10 was also a ‘warm-up’ task upgraded to proper task status.
Ties only matter for the points at the end of a episode, or maybe the series if it ever happened. Plenty of tasks end in a tie, maybe not a 5 way tie but still.
I mean.. the card doesn’t say that you can lift the eggs with the cloth, so... they could’ve grabbed the corners, put them together and lift it up like a bag full of eggs
Eggs are shaped that way though so they won't roll of anything rather going in a circle so as long as you didn't lift the eggs up the task was bound to result in a tie.
Now see, I interpreted tampering to mean I couldn't touch any of the things. I would have asked Alex to pick up and move each of the eggs off the cloth lol
I see tampering as to mean you couldn't change the nature of the eggs, e.g. raw vs. hardboiled. Didn't say anything about tampering with the position of the eggs, in which case you could have just gotten a bowl remove each egg one by one and put it in the bowl, then remove the cloth (which was the goal of the activity)
Eggs have developed that specific shape in most cases because it makes them unable to roll away, they loop back. If I were a contestant I woul have been able to call the dumb task out beforehand to Alex because of that bit of useless knowledge xD
I would have gotten on the other side of the table so the row of 5 would be first off leading to less chance of strays. But I suppose pulling it at the corner achieves the same result.
Two of them got saved by the letter, which could be called tampering with the table. One of them pulled slowly and did two different pulls. So I wouldn't say those three "nailed it". More like they broke the rules and weren't punished for it.
What's the point of doing a preview of the task reading as an opener if the preview is literally going to be shown word for word like 5 seconds later after it was initially shown?

I bet every one of them thought after their own attempt: "I'm gonna win this, surely everyone else will break at least one."
And they were all partially right.
They all DID win.
XD
You can see how pleased they looked before the videos played. Like, "I'm going to come out well in this task." And they did.
At least two people were saved by the letter on the table.
