      @@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics I never count on the timing of 1.4 to be accurate. By step firing my scripted show I get no unwanted overlap nor dark sky. Of course these shows are not time scripted to music. They are a scripted sequence of events. I get perfect timing with my finger and the step button.

      I use step fire more often than scripting myself on my shows. Not so much for pacing, but because kids like shooting fireworks and it's an easy safe way to let a five or six year old make things go boom on the 4th.
      I don't think this system is geared to people that are that worried about black sky or too much sky puke. If it allows people to be creative I'm all for it. Hell, if it makes shooting fireworks safer because it's cheaper I'm really for it. I've got a 18R2, five modules, and a Cobra Show Creator subscription, so I'm a small timer compared to most of you. But that's a lot of money for most people. I'm all for innovation in this hobby. If a new company cuts the system price by 30% or 50% maybe that'll reduce some of the accidents that drive so many restrictive laws against aerial fireworks.

      @@benjaminnoble2244 I have more modules than I need, CSC, Audio Box, 18R2, so don’t need this but I may get just one as a toy to play with. It seems so cool. They told me they don’t have step fire as a safety precaution because you don’t arm the modules, they are just hot. So you have to press once to pick a cue and once to fire it. That’s legit. But if they hid step fire in there as an advanced user function…😊

    I'd be interested to see the long term reliability on this product. If it's reasonable, then this is pretty big jump in tech for smart device firing systems. Six modules at 18 cues with breakout board compatibility is pretty impressive. That and the price point being half of an 18M. Also, no need for a controller, and a free scripting software environment? Damn. Even with Bluetooth range limitations this could be a big contender for the backyard pyro market.

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  Год назад

      I used ematch in this video. The standard pre-fire time is 0.5s. If you clip the igniter to the base of the first tube, you'll get a quick ignition. This may require cutting the cardboard back on cakes to get right up against the tube.

      That is because I was using the MJG Firewire Initiators, which are instant ignition and directly matched into the firework. If you're using standard igniters and clip to the base of the tube as close as you can get to the firework, I'd do something like 0.5s (which should be default).

    Wow great video. I really like this system. I really wish it had longer range though. What is the fastest cue time you can shoot at? Does it have a 1sec delay like the Cobra 18R, or no delay like the 18R2? Also I have a ton of regular ematch. Wonder if I can just make some plug adapters to put into the cues so I can use up the remaining inventory of my regular ematch?

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  3 года назад +1

      You might be surprised by the range! I also did a range video and on my phone (line of sight) I got up to 1300' with the unit on a 5 gallon bucket. Yes you can use regular ematch with the quickplug cables. Technically there is a slight delay, only because you have to select which cue you want to fire, then push fire and it gives you a little toast showing that it fired. You can also fire more than one igniter/match from the same cue.

      With regard to the IGNITE system, you would need to make sure the connector is wired on the end of your chain. Also, the fuse igniters cannot be wired in series, so you will want to do those in parallel. If you're using the MJG Firewires, they can be wired in series or parallel. • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  3 года назад +1

      In my experience, those reusable clips are not very reliable. You have to clean them after each use and even when doing that, I have had them fail. I would rather use a one time use product and be done with it. The FireFly system on their website is $229 WITHOUT rechargeable batteries, so you'll be spending $10 in D batteries or buying the $40 recharge upgrade. So now the FireFly is $270 with recharge for 15 cues ($18 per cue) vs IGNITEs $190 for 18 cues with standard recharge support ($10.50 per cue, or if you want to throw in that one time use igniter, it's still only $11.25 per cue). So $18 FireFly vs $11.25 IGNITE a cue.
