My only real worry about the migration is if these people start pushing to change hellsite (affectionate) to be like hellsite (derogatory). Don't come to tumblr if you don't like things like chronological dashboard, minimal algorithms that are completely user driven and swearing

I saw a post where someone was asking to be friends and OP did a deep dive into the person and proceeded to give the longest L+Ratio in my life to where they deactivated. Tumblr doesn't care, they will hurt themselves to drag you further down. It's a apocalyptic clown show and I love it. Twitter users who cry and vomit over clapping animations? For someone, who is fairly new to tumblr (didn't migrate from twitter, came from my own curiosity) I like it so far here. Like and reblog everything I love and go on my merrry way. Still fighting with tags and comments though.
I also started using Tumblr about a year ago after a friend asked me to create an account to keep in touch (was considering using Twitter as well at the same time, glad I didn't lol) and Tumblr is a very peaceful and I love the chaotic energy there, I love it

I've been here two years (or more what even is time) and i had the account for quite a while but i just logged back in during lockdown cuz i made an insta fan account and needed content but at this point i have some of my closest and best friends on tumblr and i spend more time just being batshit and saying THE craziest shit casually on there that i spend on instagram itself.
And either no one ever sees it as it disappears into the void or your mutuals just go "mood" and y'all move on.

I made a Tumblr when I was like fourteen, forgot it existed and then came back to it in middle/late high school. It welcomed me back like a deranged close friend, one you know is absolutely off their rocker but they'd never hurt you.
As an mcyt fan, this reminds me when tons of people from mcyt twitter came to tumblr to escape the drama, and so many people in the fandom decided to make so many posts on tumblr etiquette(myself included lmao)
I only joined the DSMP fandom a few months ago (Just before the Prison Break) and I made a Tumblr account to follow some AO3 authors and now I have like 100 people I'm following somehow. I really only check in on like 5 of them though.

To be honest I do understand why tumblr users don't want the constant toxicity, shit can be draining and awful and in this day in age no one needs that.
That being said coming from someone who will most likely move to there if shit gets worse on twitter, I don't like being bunched up with the toxicity and monstrous sides of twitter. Some of us as tiny as it is are chill and just talk to moots and about interests, etc, etc and want to not have to deal with it anymore then anyone else. Most people probably leaving are just said people.
There’s a little more to it than that. Tumblr had a real problem with toxicity for years. Just people constantly complaining or trying to find “receipts” on others and messaging anyone they could find to see how far they could ruin their reputation. I remember a children or young adult author was chased from the site awhile ago who didn’t actually do anything wrong. It was kinda miserable.
But then the…. uh…. “Adult Content” ban happened in 2018 and a bunch of users fled to Twitter. We all honestly thought Tumblr would slowly die, but after awhile we kinda realized the site was kinda chill now. Somehow that ban got the toxic users out of there. I mean, “receipts” are still around a little, but nowhere near the level it was.
We don’t talk about the details too often because that ban still isn’t popular, but that’s why Tumblr’s terrified of Twitter, specifically. We don’t really want those people back.
Edit: I will say that the most backlash you’d really get as a new user would be a few blocks if you follow someone without any content on your blog. Make sure to Reblog things and find a tag you can have fun in, and you’ll find yourself interacting with others soon.

As far as I’ve seen the twitter refugees have been okay so far! The ones I’ve seen and followed have been super nice and very happy about how friendly Tumblr has been compared to Twitter so there may be hope!

Years ago I heard that tumblr was a dead app and when I heard that I assumed that that meant it was as dead as MySpace and Vine until I got recommended videos on RUclips talking about how Destiel broke tumblr or sth and I was surprised that the site still existed. I started watching Strange Aeons and I learned a bit about tumblr from watching her videos and it seems like a very cool app with a nice community and I even considered making an account since I had heard that tumblr is the most accepting place for people in fandoms and since I have a couple fan pages on Instagram, I have had some unpleasant interactions with people that dislike my idols and make fun of me and the rest of the people in my fandom for liking them and going on a website that is accepting of fangirls sounded appealing to me but I never got around to downloading the app and making an account. I still think it would be pretty fun to join and see what it’s like on there and maybe make some friends and see if I fit in tumblr community.

My newest sideblog, which one could consider a fanpage, I started mid December 2021. Since then I have recieved exactly 1 piece of hate for one of the creators my page is centered around. Just 1 piece, not toward me (in fact they complimented me and just was hating on this person)
So I would recommend setting up a fanpage over here and just giving it a try

same here, I've got a twitter and used it like, three times max. But like, I prefer discord and instagram but instagram is slowly becoming like twitter. like some instagram users when commenting on posts are overly agressive for n o reason. like all I did once was ask a question or correct someone and they went off on me with insults and slurs. more than once that type of situation has happened. tumblr seems to be pretty safe looking other than discord so I myself may check it out politely and such

As a Tumblr user who migrated from Wattpad I needed someone to call out the Tumblr Migration
While I certainly enjoy the chaotic Tumblr content, I would probably never go on it because I have already built up content on three sites so I can experiment with my creations, make friends, and live in my own little drama-free corner. I cannot mentally handle a fourth, especially during this muskpocolypse dealio.
To you Tumblr users going through it and you Twitter users just looking for a drama-free zone where you can finally get away from… well… Twitter… I wish you well and hope the hellsite stays nontoxic.
What are the three sites you mentioned, might I ask? Tumblr hasn't been too toxic for me, but that's probably just because I don't use it much. I wonder if there's such a thing as social media that's _truly_ non-toxic.

Switched over to Tumblr from Twitter due to the Sonic fandom being stupid. Best decision ever. I still use Twitter but only for extra fan art. Tumblr is now my go to social media. It's chill af.

the tone i want to cultivate is bullying twitter users for being from twitter so i'm good. More to the point, the toxic traits of Twitter are leveraging influence and the threat of social shunning to amplify the stupidest political takes possible so no, actually, there's quite a ways to go.
my tumblr experience has been... varied... i had an account for awhile, realized it was eating up like hours of my time that I needed to do other things, stopped logging in, forgot my username and password because somehow i never saved it, then recently made a new tumblr... and it feels like i never left, but that's tumblr for you i guess
To Twitter users watching this/reading the comments: Please for the love of god, reblog your favorite posts, especially art. Liking a post on Tumblr is NOT the same as liking a post on Twitter, it does NOT get the post around. It's as useless as pissing in the wind and does nothing to get the artist attention. This goes for PSA's. If it doesn't fit your blog aesthetic, make it an exception or make a separate blog. Yes, you can make as many blogs as you want on Tumblr

Blank accounts are automatically assumed to be porn/spam bots and Tumblr has a major issue with them, leading to a lot of Twitter refugees being blocked because they were mistaken as being bots for not having anything on them. Trust me, not everyone is doing this out of malice. We do not trust blank accounts because they're usually fishy.

i moved to twt back in The Great Tumblr nsfw Ban along with many, many artists and throughout the years I've wanted to return back to it. I joined last year, but have been following it on pinterest for years. The toxicity has really died down over the past while, it's mostly just a chill fandom space, as it was originally intended I think. Hopefully the twitter demons don't make it more toxic.

As someone who has gone through an... Excessive amount of Tumblr, both in accounts and content... Its like returning to home after a long, relaxing vacation, only to find your house is on fire. But its okay, because at least its only burning the remaining smolders from the other hellfire burns. On the bright side: I like s'mores, so I can't really complain! :,)
I saw a lot of posts from this one account “ biggest gaudiest patronuses,” but I never realized what site it was on because I live under a rock. I got Reddit like a year ago and realized that Reddit and tumblr are not the same thing and basically recoiled in fear, and now I have sworn off of social media for like the next 5 years until the cool posts start trickling back into my RUclips shitpost compilations.

I'm actually scared. I'm really sensitive, and I don't want to be bullied. I'm sure Tumblr isn't exactly innocent when it comes to bullying people just for disagreeing with some random-ass opinion, but from what I've heard, Twitter is a million times worse in that regard.
Yeah at least on tumblr people realize that every user is no better than the other one. If you don't want people discussing certain TOPICS with you, then that's one thing. 'Cause then it's like "no hard feelings", you know? But if you're telling people to stay the fuck away from you just because of some opinion or ship or whatever, then that's incredibly scummy, and it frankly sickens me that so many people condone it.
People need to go back to "agree to disagree". If somebody disagrees with you, that's no reason to mistreat them. There's still a human being under there, you know.

@@catbatrat1760 it is a tricky situation. And I understand you honestly. People should learn to listen and respect, not even talking about accepting and showing compassion, even if the views are very different from their own.
But like - usually people who put DNIs won't tolerate us either way so like... it's like wild animal. It would be wonderful if it wasn't agressive towards us but since it is at least a warning sign would help to avoid it. Some people just can't accept some things (even as trivial as a ships) so instead of wasting my time and nerves explaining - no, this is not problematic, y'all just create drama out if nothing and make it weird for everyone else - I just skip them. They don't listen to people who know better anyway, e.g. : If the first thing they do when another chinese person kindly explains to them for the 100th time that no, there is nothing problematic about shipping these 2 characters (sworn brotherhood is still a foreign concept for those people as i see), is throw slurs and accusations at them and pretend like they understand the matter better - I better block this person from my life than spend time teaching them manners, psychology and cultural diversity. Sometimes they learn on their mistakes, but otherwise - it's really not worth it...

Here's hoping this works out in my favor! I started doing digital art late last year and started my own tumblr earlier this year, but I honestly thought after a little while that the site was kinda dead. I don't see anyone talking about it anymore. I never did get a twitter just because I was _so_ unfamiliar with it (and kinda felt uncomfortable about it tbh)
*_BUT_* maybe if Tumblr sees an increase in users, I won't need one! Maybe someone could see me! Even if it's just a couple of people, that'd make my day!

Same 😝 I hade my Twitter for less than a week befor i left. The art is great but it feels like your always walkig on eggshells on there.
Tumblr is honestly great for artists since you can keep getting attention YEARS after you post your art. Meanwhile on twitter (to my inexperienced understanding) if you dont immediately pop off, your art is thrown into a void never to be seen again.
Literally I still get likes from my 3 year old Supernatural fanart. I both hate that it gets more attention than my better new stuff and love that it's still being seen. It's a blessing and a curse. Literally my most popular drawing is UNFINISHED, but whatever lol

i've been on tumblr for ten plus years. it is part of my daily routine. i'm on it everyday without fail. yet i had no idea this was all going on. probably because i'm so deep in my niche fandom that no one from twitter would ever find me. i think i'll stay in my corner and enjoy tumblr.

I don't have Twitter or Tumblr, I exist solely on RUclips, discord, and twitch. However; a quarter of the content here on RUclips I consume is dudes reading lists of the best Tumblr posts they find for anywhere from 11 minutes to 24 HOURS STRAIGHT of pure Tumblr chaos, which I leave on in the background, occasionally tuning in for one's I find particularly interesting. I also actively avoid Twitter, and always have.
If they arrive, put them in a box and feed them so much horse plinko that they beg you to let them go, and once you open the box, watch them run back to bird app just like they did during the great purge.

i logged into tumblr in 2021(im sadgirlnoga for those who follow me), before the tragedy of december 2018 i was still in my insecure anti sjw transmed era and saw tumblr as this "special snowflake hellhole" full of stupid and ugly people who will drag you just for saying what you ate for breakfest(same with twitter), but after i unpacked that and started working on myself i started seeing tumblr in a very different light and last year i as like "hmmmm...all those weird and dangerous f3t1sh, pr0 4n4 and true crime blogs have probably vanished, lets join and find ppl with the same interests as me to befriend.'' and thats how i got in, i totally get why people are gatekeeping tumblr though, because they wanna make sure these people tont give tumblr the reputation its had for years and drive naive, innocent and confused kids like i was away from a potential safe space.
I’m kinda new to tumblr (made my account like earlier this year I think) and honestly I’ll kinda just go on whenever I feel like it and everytime I feel like 100 things have happened since I was last on and I’ll just be like “huh, okay” and then proceed to reblog what I see or look up the ship I’m currently going insane over.

I never really left tumblr. There was a short span when I hardly used it, favored instagram because it's where a lot of the artists I interacted with were. But yea I use it fairly regularly and ever started a new blog a few months ago dedicated to archiving voicebanks for a really niche and dying vocal synth engine. :)

I made an account back in 2018 right after the Purge, I did abandon that account for about a year and recently made a new one (about a year ago) so I could start actually seeing the things that interested me instead of things I somehow got stuck on after liking one post one time. On the bright side I'm away from a slightly toxic account that was starting to affect my mental health, on the Dark side I can't see all the posts on that account that I actually want to see now.
Honestly I think people are panicking over nothing. Sure, Twitter's Overton Window may shift to the right a bit, but Twitter gonna keep on Twitter, and Tumblr gonna keep on Tumblr, I hope. I am not on Tumblr myself (It is my one "Darn these newfangled things!" hold-out), but I respect it for the Hellsite it is, and the content it grants PM Seymour for his videos.

ive used tumblr for years, was there before the nsfw ban, and i continue to stay. I do not like the idea of twitter users coming to tumblr but i have yet to see one. If Twitter Users are nice and are willing to adjust to tumblr, I have no problem with them. I hope they don't turn our hellsite into their hellsite
