Raptor Oh and a tip for you:if you go 2/3 or full speed near to the surface you'll cavitate and this'll tell to the enemy where you are,but there's an advantage,going full speed for a while will form "knuckles" in the water,theese knuckles generate sound disturbing torpedoes,so you can avoid 'em

Raptor. A tactic you can do is the anvil tactic, which is 2 torps hitting the same area on both sides of the a ship at the same time.
Also as you said you where in USS Groton. The city is Groton is in Connecticut, the place where the 1st nuclear subs where made by General Electric
GE made the reactors Electric Boat in Groton and New London make the subs
@@MrSholbk I almost got a job for them years ago. There are submarine yards in New Hampshire for the navy. Also there are other submarine facilities I think for GD in that area too. If you go to Maine dinner a restaurant near the ocean (near Portsmouth New Hampshire) you can see the navy working on the submarines across the bay lol. It’s pretty cool. Cool stuff they are always looking for robotics techs, electricians, former navy people etc… it’s kind of cool NewEngland is where Submarines are made.

More info on the Falklands War, the ARA General Belgrano was sank by HMS Conqueror and is to date the only ship sunk in action by a nuclear powered submarine and the second sunk in action by any kind of submarine since WWII.

Tip use noicemakers more often, you would have bin able to confuse the heck out of the sovjets, then the hole would not be on you big sub. I know nothing about submarines and tactics for them, but noicemakers look handy

FYI: Groton happens to be the name of the City in Connecticut. Home to Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics (EB for short) and the US Navy Sub base. This is the place that builds and launches Americas Nuclear subs. Of coarse it is also home to the Nautilus, the countries first nuclear powered submarine. Named after Jules Verne's Sub from his epic novel published in 1870 and later released on film in 1954. The Sub is permanently moored in Groton and open to the public.

Quick edit for you: At the end, when you're watching your last Tomahawks hit, that sub isn't an Akula, aka Typhoon. It's one of the Delta class SSBN.
Raptor, love the series, but if you want a more detail even cooler submarine game, you should play Silent Hunter 3 or 4, those are a bit old but so good.
+Raptor By the way, if no one has told you yet cavitation is very bad in a submarine. It's basically the loudest thing you can do.

The Groton would be named after Groton, Connecticut which is home to the Electric Boat Company (Now part of General Dynamics), one of the largest submarine building shipyards in the US.
That wasn't the Red October - RO, in the novel and movie, was a modified Typhoon (easily recognizable because the silos and missile deck are in FRONT of the sail AKA conning tower, instead of behind it). That sub moored at the port was a Delta III/IV (its huge "hump back" missile deck is unmistakable).

Besides Hunt for the Red October for submarine warfare goodness, read another Tom Clancy, SSN. Basically sub warfare against the Chinese and since they only really use Soviet subs and ships, it'll have some pretty good insight into this kind of thing.

What I did in earlier submarine games was....once I had launched my very last missile (Tomahawk etc), I ordered the crew to get the heck out of there in flank speed because any noises did not make any difference: enemy knew exactly where I was anyway.
TIPS FOR MISSLE: step 1 always load ASM and TLAM and TASM and change the correct depth

No, this is nowhere near realistic. This is an arcade game meant to be played by casual gamers, not a simulation.

Playing a submarine Sim and haven't heard of the submarine capital of the world, Groton Connecticut? It's the headquarters for US naval submarines.
I want to try that game some day. if they put in the Falkland Islands war as a campaign....... I will so buy it. wish there was more than just subs to play as though....... maybe a battleship of the Iowa class.

There are two variants to the los Angeles class submarine - the old 688's without vls, and the 688I, with VLS
Yeah, I cringed when he had to remove most of his ordinance to fit the TLAMs. VLS would have been preferable for this mission.
I haven't seen the exact time line but I think this game is set in a period before the 688i was operational.

I would have killed the warships first. Then loaded a MOSS and three TLAMS.
Shoot the TLAMS, reload, then fire the MOSS off on a least time to deep water bearing. Then go ultra quiet and sneak off to a different position.
Repeat the shoot but send the second MOSS off on a different bearing.
If all goes well they will go after both the MOSS's. Then we leave. Very quietly.
The names of the class of subs is not always cutie names in the us because I was touring a decommissioned one and it was the USS Dolphin
