Backpack but at my high school there is only 3 areas of the building we couldn't have our bags. The library, the servery and the tech wing which had wood shop and auto and animation
I just carried books ,,remember having to cover books, so got grocery bags to make the covers ,,always at first was like ughhh I hate school but got use to it ,,The worse time was going to junior high from elementary ,,you met all new kids with the ones you were use to ..I was very shy and scared stiff lol .
I call them backpacks. But back in my day we carried our books in our arms. First day of school meant some new clothes and a new pair of shoes. I didn't usually stay for school lunch because I lived close enough that I could walk home at lunchtime.
"I am one hundred percent a teacher's pet. Not really when I was home schooled. I was.. my mom and I are good friends." Mary, sweet girl.. you are ALWAYS the teacher's pet when you're homeschooled 😄 You know your mom is way more than your mom or your friend. When you have parents like you have, you are their pride and joy. They are your biggest fans and biggest cheerleaders. They are your caretakers. The unconditional love from a mom like yours is completely priceless. Not all of us are as lucky as you are to have an incredible family ❤️
"Satchels" were what some kids had when I was young. Not many kids had them. No bookbag when I was growing up. You used a belt, or just plain ole' carried your books and stuff.
Fall and the beginning of school is always the best time of the year. As a retired teacher, I find it hard to not stop in the school supplies aisle. Believe it or not, I started school in a country school. Two students in Kindergarten. My family moved away in October. Many years later, my first classmate became my brother-in-law. First day of school always included new clothes and a photo before going to school. It was wonderful.
Backpack! I remember my first day of middle school I was so nervous about getting lost in the building and changing classes so I color coded my map with routes from class to class in rainbow order.
I didn't care much for school when I was in elementary due to bullying.. but middle school was ok. High school was horrible and my parents let me quit at 16 due to administrative bullying. I still got an education, 2 different occupational licences, and some college classes. Never did like using a back pack.
Book bag. Moved around a lot as a child (military) nine schools so... A lot of "first days". Not so good for an introvert but builds independence (for better or worse)
I had both in high school. For me a book bag is a messenger bag design with just the one section and no pockets, a backpack has typically one central pocket with a front pouch, two side pouches and a drawstring closure on top under the lid which had two pinch style clips.
It was always so fun when you were little you would have a new outfit, new shoes, fresh crayons and markers. Finding out what friends were in you class and meeting your new teacher! Backpack 🎒
FYI We don't have perfect weather in the south this time of year heat index is in the 100's and it's peak of hurricane season. Wearing shorts & flip flops at Christmas is common...lol. We used book bags in the 80's, nobody carried backpacks. It would have been so much easier. I can't wait to see y'alls reactions to southern life 😃
Backpack is worn on the back or sling over one shoulder and book bag was shaped like a messenger bag with the flap to open them, carry cross body or on one shoulder. Had book bag in elementary and secondary school but had knap sack/backpack in college.
No bookbag or backpack back in 60s. Long miserable bus ride everyday. No pants allowed for girls only dresses an blouse an skirt. We never had pizza for lunch or chicken nuggets. My favorite was sheperds pie.
I hated highschool and dreaded going to school those years. But in elementary school and middle school I LOVED back to school. I am a very social and independent being. Always have been. And I loved the distance away from my family.
my husband was also homeschooled. He understands. When he was little he wanted to ride on the bus and do the crossing guard job. So my MIL took him on a public bus with his brothers and for a crossing guard, she put a vest on him and he helped his brother cross the street.
Ollie looked like he was absolutely in ecstasy at the end of the vid when Mary was patting his head! The connection u have with Ollie is just beautiful to see!! My girl does a similar thing! It’s so wonderful to see u doing so well Mary!!!
Mary, my favorite thing to say is "God willing". The truth is no one knows when they are going to die. So one does not know if they are going to be here in their 40s, 50s, 60s and on! My first days of school were horrible. I am extremely introverted and couldn't handle being around people. I am still like that. I don't leave my apt. hardly at all. I call it a backpack 🎒
My memories of the first day of school (back in the early 70's) are the excitement, fear of the unknown, feeling happy but my favorite memory is the "back to school smells," The smell of the fall air and the smell of the school and the school books, the smell of the cafeteria. I love the feeling! I remember most things by smells. Love you guys ♥️ Also we didn't have backpacks back then. Lol
Easier question first -- book bags are the tiny things that fit one notebook and maybe one book. Backpacks are the hardcore things you take to school because they demand you have a notebook per class plus a required reading per class plus a binder every subject. Harder question -- I don't know about first days, but my first few weeks of dual-enrollment, I got lost really easily on my way from Spanish (with Sr. H) to Speech (with Sr. H's wife). What's more, I had to pass by Sr. H's office to get to speech, so he often found me getting lost and had to redirect me to his wife's classroom, which provoked a lot of teasing, since he has kinda dry humor.... And my quote to live by is, "If a situation feels awkward, just be more awkward. Cause the awkwardness, and you're in control of the conversation again!" It's honestly such a power move and helps me get out of a lot of questionable situations :D
I’m so old, there was no such thing as pre-school, kindergarten was 1/2 day, that time was spent napping, snacking, and learning the ABCs. You didn’t have to go, could wait to start at 1st grade. I was such a nerd, always teacher’s pet, got excellent grades. I loved going shopping for new clothes, mom sewed a lot. The smell of a #2 pencil after it was sharpened, pages of a notebook, and an empty cigar box that held all my precious tools needed for learning
I grew up in Maryland. I remember going shopping for new school clothes the week before school started. The night before the first day, I would sleep with soft foam curlers, pack a lunch in my new lunch box, and fill my book bag with new binders, pencils, markers and crayons and lay out my clothes. I seem to remember that the first day of school was still warm but I was so excited to wear my new clothes that were always winter clothes that I would get overheated by lunch. I remember the teacher taking a count of how many people were buying lunch and how many people were buying milk ....chocolate for me 6 cents a carton!
Never cared for the first day of school although first days were always the easiest! I got to experience the best of both worlds--public school and being home-schooled. Always enjoyed sleeping in and the dress code being my pajamas. Great memories.
My daughter is a Sophmore and she carries her backpack with her to every class and rarely uses her locker. She says there's no time to stop at her locker between classes. We call it both a backpack and book bag interchangeably
I’m in England and we call them either back packs or Ruck sacks. A book bag is a small bag young kids carry books in while they’re learning to read in primary school and it’s co-ordinated with their uniforms and often has the school logo on and the child’s name in case it gets lost. My sister has two kids in primary school and book bags are always getting lost. Unfortunately not all schools have lockers here, we had to carry our whole day’s books around with us and it was heavy. Thanks for the video
Mary, did you choose your college to follow Peter or did you choose it for the curriculum or both?!?! I loooved the first day of school!! The new stationary supplies were everything!! I still love new paper and new writing utensils. So good. Most of the time I was the teachers pet. And yes, I always sat in the front of the row. I was that kid☺️
Quite a number of years ago when I went to school we either carried our books or used a book bag which was either held by a handle or had a shoulder strap. Today I believe the children use backpacks. Really enjoyed your reminiscing about first day back to school. Brought back many memories.. 👍😊❤️
To me, it'll always be a backpack. My mom had book bags that were basically tote bags for your books. In middle school we were not allowed to use our backpacks during the day, but in high school, we could use them all day which was a serious blessing. With 5 minutes between classes in a pretty big building and over 1000 kids, getting to your locker and class in time just wasn't always possible. And yes Mary, I'm 31 and people told me all the time growing up, I'd appreciate looking younger when I got older. I'm permanently the size of the average 11 year old and it's still happening, not appreciating it. And yes the germs! I kid you not I was sick with a cold probably 80% of high school, it was ridiculous.
I always called mine a knapsack and I loved getting the small olive green ones from the Army Navy Store. I was the only kid in my school to have one they weren’t in vogue in the 1970s. I was often ahead of the curve but not a trend setter.
In grammar school (1950's thru late 1966) I had a book bag. It did have a shoulder strap, but it had a single handle on the top, & the flap of the bag went over the side to the front where it had a buckle on each end to hold it closed. I don't remember having a backpack in 1967 when I only attended (1) semester of college. I didn't have a backpack until I entered a state sponsored retraining class for women who were divorced, widowed, or like me had been in a job for over 20 years & due to changing times my job had become obsolete. I took a year of classes in graphic arts, learned on an Apple computer (Formerly, I had only worked on an IBM punch card system, then I became the guinea pig for the 1st computer screen to send work to this company, they would process the data & have the finished print outs delivered to our office. Next we got a tape to tape Wang computer. When I was let go from that job was the 1st time I ever touched a computer... an Apple at my graphic arts classes.
Here in the U.K., primary school starts when you’re 4-5 years old. I went to a private school and wore a little lavender dress with white collar and cuffs as my uniform with a navy hooded gaberdine raincoat and a purple velour hat with the school badge on a purple ribbon hatband and an upturned brim. Once we were 7 we graduated to old fashioned navy blue three pleat gynslips with white shirt, purple and silver tie and a purple wooden sash. There was even a uniform coin purse that you wore across your body. It was purple with the school badge and the cord was silver. In the summer, the whole school changed into purple gingham cotton dresses with purple blazers and Panama hats in the same style as our winter velours, again with the purple hat bands and elastic chin straps to stop them flying off in windy weather xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I graduated a couple years back and I always brought my backpack to class with me! How else would I sneak my snacks into class? Not many kids these days use their lockers too much, for high school at least.
goodness Peter Im 56 and recall my school memories so clearly...backpack by the way is what we call it and we didn't have them in my day. My first day I was so excited couldn't even sleep I had 5 new outfits and new shoes my parents had got me, I decided on a pretty plaid cotton dress I thought I was beautiful and I knew this school thing was going to be awesome. I walked into my class room found the desk with my name on it and sat down I heard lots of giggling and to my horror as I set there smiling my new panties were being flashed as my dress and hooked on the top of my chair as I slid into my seat, That seemed to set the tone for the next 12 years I disliked school so much!!!!
Growing up I didn't like school. I was a bit of a loner. Backpack! Ironically I work in the kitchen of the school I live by (7 miles away) high school at breakfast and lunch I serve at the elementary. Lunches have changed dramatically since I was in school. We give them 2-3 or even 4 choices now and we offer a fruit and veggie bar!! Side note- KIDS ARE AWESOME!!!!! ❤️
Book bag....backpacks were just coming out when I was in school...hardly anyone had one. We all carried the LL Bean or Lands End canvas bag with colored handles.
I always remember being excited to wear my new school clothes. We never had a book bag or a backpack. We had a giant notebook and then carried our books. One thing I do remember is transitioning from Jr High to Sr High I didn't get lost on the first day but I got really lost on the second day. I was really, really shy so I stayed to myself a lot until l felt comfortable talking to people.
It was always known as a school bag or bag in my house. In Australia a lot of schools dont have lockers and in primary you either had hooks or hubby's. Where as in high school a lot of schools made you carry around your bag, with everything in it.
I enjoyed going back to school because i was very fortunate To always have new clothes to wear and all new school supplies. But I really didn’t enjoy high school much. It was a constant battle with bullying and even fighting with administrators over my chronic Debilitating migraines. I haven’t looked back to high school much but I loved starting a new semester at college. I lived in Ky at the time and we usually started after Labor Day. Here in NM tho the kids started back three weeks ago. Temps are still in the 90s so it really doesn’t feel like summers over yet and it probably won’t for another month or so. No chilly morning new school year for these guys and girls.
No poll so will answer here, in the UK Howell at least in Liverpool were I grew up and now Oxford where my own children are at school) they are back packs or school bags, a book bag is something the little kids take to infants and maybe junior school (elementary) and is like a wallet (just over a standard A4 page size) with a carrying handle for reading books and homework sheets (kids here don’t take their work books home before high school) and these days will normally have the school name and logo on. My youngest started high school last week so now he and his sister go off to school together (He is 11 and his sister 14), hard to let go of my babies but very proud of them, makes my morning easier as I can’t function well until meds have kicked in and physio is done, not as much work as cf but so much easier now having them leave at the same time together. My son is enjoying it so far, even though his homework load is a lot more even only 3 days in lol! My daughter is now studying for her GCSEs and really enjoying the subjects she selected. P.s My friend who started on vertex that I mentioned is doing okay now 2 weeks in, he even sat on his horse for the first time in over a year, just walking but still amazing for him, we nearly lost him last year.
the only difference between a backpack and a book bag that I know is: A backpack can be worn on your back and can have many more pockets. A book bag is usually a bag with a strap or straps that can be long enough to go over your shoulder or shorter to hold like a reusable grocery bag. The first day of school... the odds are I threw up, especially if I was given scrambled eggs for breakfast.
My daughter keeps her backpack with her to all classes. And she goes to a private Christian school. We say backapack. My first day was excitement but dread b/c i wanted to sleep in but was excited to see everyone. I loved school supplies so I was excited to use all my new stuff. New desk or locker (elementary or jr high/highschool) I'm still fb friend with most of my class who i knew since kindergarten. Most have kids my kid's age. it's cool seeing their families.
I remember loving the first day of school in grade school, I especially loved getting my new books and lunch box lunches. ... Oh, and I call it a backpack :)
Mary, I have not heard you Cough since you started the new medicine. I 🙏 that you keep improving, you are such a great couple, my husband and I have been married 53 years and still having fun. Jerry came home from Vietnam with diabetes so with your low blood sugar‘s I know, I also know medication works wonders, his diabetes, was caused, Agent Orange and not controlled, blood sugar levels we're low of in the teens so low it wouldn't register and up to 900, he spent 6 months in Great Lakes Naval Hospital, this was our first two years of marriage only together 5 months 13 months in Vietnam and 6 in hospital. Keep on getting better and you Peter and Oliver. You guys remind me of us.🙏💙🥰
I'm quite a bit older than y'all, but in high school, my book bag went with me everywhere I went, even during lunch (mine was a tote, not a backpack style, so it was very much a "book bag" in my case). My (now) husband carried around a big duffel bag as his book bag. There was a big push when we were in high school to get rid of lockers, so there were very few available and we had to carry our books around all the time unless you happened to have a locker and could actually get to it in between classes. They also assumed upperclassmen would keep their books in their cars. I think they feared kids would keep contraband in their lockers, but to me it seemed like a dumber idea to let kids keep "whatever" on them where it was within easy reach! :)
At my high school didn't really have lockers. We had them for the athletes so they had somewhere to keep their equipment during the school day. I played basketball and soccer so I always had a locker. But everyone else had to carry everything in a backpack.
I've always said backpack, tho for a couple of yrs n high school I had a messenger bag & i did carry mine some if had a couple of classes that were next to each other far away from my locker cause sometimes going from 1 room to another that's a bit of a walk would take awhile & u only had like 5mins to walk to your locker, use restroom if needed & get to your next class. Yes left books & things in class then went to the cafeteria with the class at your scheduled time
I can remember feeling very nervous the night before school started, the morning nerve the nervous chitters would get the best of me. I never had friends in high school but elementary school was so much fun. High school not my favorite four years, but I graduated 🙌
It’s a backpack to me! I loved the first day of school. All the new pens, folders, etc. My mom would take me shopping for a new first day outfit, which made the first day a little more special 😁
You talking about back to school reminded when I was in high school. My best friend and I both had the same class together for 2 years with the same teacher. The 2nd year we were the first in and decided to sit in the same desks as the year before to see if the teacher would remember. She did.
Between my years as a student and my years as teacher, I have had 52 First Days of School. And I gotta tell you, the feeling hasn’t changed! It is a combination of anticipation, nervousness and excitement mixed with sleep deprivation, because the Night Before School Starts, is a lot like Christmas Eve... it is hard to sleep. As a student, I always prayed that I’d have friends and that my teacher would like me. As a teacher, I pray that I will be exactly who my students need me to be. I pray that I will see their needs and have to skills to meet those need. Ever since Columbine, I have prayed that no evil would enter the doors of any school. That God will post an army of angels around our campuses. Please join me in this prayer . I carry a book bag to school. It has a short handle that I carry like a purse. My students carry backpacks. 🎒 They have two adjustable straps which students use to care the backpack on their back.
when i was in high school we didn't carry book bags/pack back...first day was always exciting to see friends and the first day prep rally to kick off the school year.
If you haven't read "the wonder of lost causes" you should! It's about a young boy with cf that ends up with a service dog in a way you wouldn't imagine. It's an amazing book that I may or may not have cried to.
I was always a little nervous on the first day. I always loved new school supplies though and new school clothes! For me it was a backpack. Does anyone remember those square pieces of pizza? Not sure if they are just a Midwest thing but I loved them!
Autumn is my favourite season of the year so I'm very happy to say goodbye to the horrible heat and feel much cooler weather. Here in the UK I live in the hottest part of the country and I hate it. There's also just something nostalgic about autumn.
Funny story, my kids called them “backpacks” until one morning when we were running late, I tried to tell them to get their Jackets and backpacks, but what came out was “Hurry, get your backets and jackpacks!” They laughed so hard at my mistake, and from that day until the day they graduated high school they always called them JACKPACKS! Lol hope this made you laugh today! Thanks for making me smile everyday!
I loved art class, and music. I played the violin and was in chorus. So that was my favorite part of elementary school. I never hated it. But goong into high school, I loved the sense of freedom. But highschool was rough, and I don't miss it.
Backpacks like you think of them did not become popular until the late 1970s. I got my first one in about 1978 as a freshman in highschool. The little front pocket had my pens and pencils in it, along with my pills and insulin for the day. Before then we just carried our notebook and books by hand.
Bookbag. I was always so excited. Would have a hard time sleeping the night before. I also got new school clothes each year along with new notebook, paper, pencils, etc. I would even practice my hand writing during the summer. I was such a geek 🐱
I also loved the first day of school until high school. This video really amused me because I went to college with a bunch of homeschooled kids (I went to private school) and they would ask a lot of the questions Mary asked.
Brand new folders and notebooks..fresh pencils..new clothes/shoes. Frost on the grass. (After sleeping late all summer) Hearing the bus coming down the road. Finding your new locker/classroom. Yeah, all that really fades after the first year of your last school. I.e. freshman year of high school.
We go back to school in August in Texas and it's the hottest part of the year. Its also the middle of hurricane season so we were stressed or watched our parents stress about that. I always found the first month to be exhausting but I didn't like school after 3rd grade.
Oklahoma City here. I told my husband I am so looking forward to those two days of fall we have before the cold, wet winter sets in. We homeschool also. Our 6 year old granddaughter lives with us and we just started her first grade year.
In my kids high school no one uses a locker. They all carry their backpacks. But when I went to school (eons ago) we kept everything in our locker. Of course I went to a smaller school and there are three floors in my kids high school. :)
I’m in England and Didn’t have either i had a rucksack. Through my school yrs I don’t remember looking forward to starting school cos I was bullied all the way through high school cos Im in a wheelchair and “different” but I did look forward to my 1st day at uni. I loved every moment of uni. As always sending you loads of hugs and love from me and the furkids over here in England. 💙🐶🇬🇧💜
Guys does anyone have POTS here? I got diagnosed about a month ago after having seizures since March. It’s been tough. Any advice? Mary, I know you have a different chronic illness but I’d love to hear your advice.
I've always said both. Probably 50/50 I font know why but it's the same thing to me! Maybe growing up we always called it a book bag but I've realized most people call it a back pack so I've partially converted. Lol. Also at my first high school (I moved to a different area in the middle of high school) back backs were kept in the locker, at my second high school everyone kept their book bags with them in classes. Which I found much more convienient!
Book bag. Prominent memory: my mom ‘s lunches. I’d sell my homemade raisin cookies to my friend because she loved them. I could always get more at home. Sometimes homemade cherry crisp. ❤️
Happy Fall to Y'all to and when you come back to NC bring some of that fall cooler weather with you. It was 95 here in Charlotte, NC today. (edit- that is Monday-just realized that I replied today but the video was from Sunday) I always loved the first day of school as a kid. I still remember my first day of first grade- ( either Kindergarten started in schools around here the year I was in first grade or the next year so no K for me but I had already been to a daycare that taught us our ABCs, and how to read, tell time. etc so I was ready for first grade.) I still remember being excited the night before my first day of first grade- they showed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on TV and I watched part of that. Then going into my classroom for the first time I remember the teacher had a paper with a girl or boy on the front and a pack of the larger size 8 crayons. As students came in we picked up a paper with a girl or boy which ever you were, picked a desk and sat down and colored our picture. Ah the memories of first grade so long ago- 1976. What a Wonderful time it was!
I went to school in Germany. Our summer break was only six weeks. I did not buy a new school bag back-I had a leather satchel. In Germany you have lots of breaks throughout the school year like three weeks over Christmas...school was torture for me because I have a learning disability ADHD
100% backpack! I don't remember anything from kindergarten or early years of primary school but remember high school very well. I used to get to school early so I could around the school yard 20 times before class began. 😂
Send fall to south Louisiana please! It’s 98 with heat index of 108. So very ready for fall. Elementary had book sack and high school carried my books.Thankful for lockers then.
Backpack. And i just adore your relationship. How sweet and calming to remember the sweet parts. I am so happy for you Mary. You didn't cough once! What a beautiful hope for us to witness. Godd bless you both and of course ollie boy peaking in the vlog behind you. Did you catch it? Hehe
I remember the first day of school jitters especially if I started a new school. But then after that it was more from jitters to excitement as the years went on.
My Daddy took me to school my first day of kindergarten. I was playing and I turned around and didn't see him. I panicked and ran out of the room. Sure enough he was out there. I was a very shy clingy kid.
My sons 16. He is able to take his bookbag every class, they don’t have ANY lockers in his school. In middle school he couldn’t have a bookbag and had to use a locker.
What are your most prominent memories of first day of school? Also- let me know “book bag” or “backpack” 🙂
Getting in trouble for coloring my finger nails with my crayons 🤣🤣 I think book bag 🤷🏻♀️
Backpack but at my high school there is only 3 areas of the building we couldn't have our bags. The library, the servery and the tech wing which had wood shop and auto and animation
I say rucksack
I just carried books ,,remember having to cover books, so got grocery bags to make the covers ,,always at first was like ughhh I hate school but got use to it ,,The worse time was going to junior high from elementary ,,you met all new kids with the ones you were use to ..I was very shy and scared stiff lol .
I call them backpacks. But back in my day we carried our books in our arms. First day of school meant some new clothes and a new pair of shoes. I didn't usually stay for school lunch because I lived close enough that I could walk home at lunchtime.
Book bags are like satchels, carried in your hand or with a strap over your shoulder. Backpacks are, well, back packs. IMO 😉
"I am one hundred percent a teacher's pet. Not really when I was home schooled. I was.. my mom and I are good friends."
Mary, sweet girl.. you are ALWAYS the teacher's pet when you're homeschooled 😄
You know your mom is way more than your mom or your friend. When you have parents like you have, you are their pride and joy. They are your biggest fans and biggest cheerleaders. They are your caretakers. The unconditional love from a mom like yours is completely priceless. Not all of us are as lucky as you are to have an incredible family ❤️
I’m so old we didn’t have book bags or backpacks. We just carried our books
Me too! That's exactly what I just wrote!! 😁
rae1957tn me too!
rae1957tn Me too!!!! Class of ‘79! 🤣☺️

Class of '82!! 😁
"Satchels" were what some kids had when I was young. Not many kids had them. No bookbag when I was growing up. You used a belt, or just plain ole' carried your books and stuff.

66 degrees in Seattle Washington. Last night, Saturday, we had an insane, out of character thunder and lightening storm!
Backpack! I remember my first day of middle school I was so nervous about getting lost in the building and changing classes so I color coded my map with routes from class to class in rainbow order.
New crayons! I love nice sharp crayons and their smell!
I do too! I love new crayons
I didn't care much for school when I was in elementary due to bullying.. but middle school was ok. High school was horrible and my parents let me quit at 16 due to administrative bullying. I still got an education, 2 different occupational licences, and some college classes. Never did like using a back pack.
You could record videos of Ollie just being Ollie. I’m sure there be tons of views. He is just so cute! 💗🐶
Yeah it was 104 in South Georgia today 🤷🏻♀️ I was outside for 20 minutes and I nearly fried my brain.
sayswice yes way to hot here in Louisiana too, come on fall!
Oh yeah. Heat index 100°-110° this week. It knocked me back in the house.
LOL
I'm in middle GA and the humidity was awful today!!!!
I work with the public and I hear “Don’t get old!” ....A lot! I always respond with “Yes please! It’s better than the alternative!”
Backpack 🎒
I always thought a book bag was something you wore over your shoulder and a backpack you wear on your back. Michigander here.
FYI We don't have perfect weather in the south this time of year heat index is in the 100's and it's peak of hurricane season. Wearing shorts & flip flops at Christmas is common...lol.
We used book bags in the 80's, nobody carried backpacks. It would have been so much easier.

Tell us some more things you say that make the situation awkward....😂
Lol
a backpack goes on your BACK.
a bookbag is more of a big purse or messenger bag
Backpack if you wear it on your back. Book bag if it's just a bag like a large purse you wear over a shoulder.
The thing I always adored about the first day back at school was the new stationery! I had (and still use) a backpack.
I loved the first day of school. Buying school supplies was the BEST
Backpacks have 2 straps for your back and a bookbag is what I used 03-08 1 strap crossbody or 1 shoulder. In my world at least
My first day of school feelings are always dread, anxiety and hatred of early mornings
That was me every day after the first day.
Yeah accept cause I live in Australia l start a new school year in late January early February.
If you have some questions about NC, please ask! I lived there in Greensboro-enjoy your blogs
In grammar school it was a book bag because it was a dark green canvas bag with a pull tie strap that we flung over our shoulder.
goodness Peter Im 56 and recall my school memories so clearly...backpack by the way is what we call it and we didn't have them in my day.
107 heat index here in Florida today, bleh! I’d love some 50 degree weather.
wolfsrule100 I’m in Tallahassee and it’s soooo hot today!
Err im in ocala fl 103 to hot but 50 no thanks..i was raised in boston moved here 6 yrs ago..70s are great
Lol my mom says book bag..i say back pack i was raised in NEw england..ct.mass.nh
Without fail, when Mary does “Ollie Talk” (goodnight everybody), I bust out 😂 laughing!! I can just imagine him talking like that. So funny!!
Backpacks 🎒 I always looked forward to wearing brand new school clothes, using fresh pencils and paper. That feeling only lasted the first week.
Backpack.... was always excited to see who was in my class for the year.
In Australia we had a a book bag that just held like one or two library books when you were younger and a back pack for everything else
I had a bookbag in elementary school but after that I just carried all my books. Didn't use a backpack till college.
In Oklahoma it is still between 95-100 degrees I am so ready for it to cool down just a little bit.
Oklahoma City here. I told my husband I am so looking forward to those two days of fall we have before the cold, wet winter sets in.
We homeschool also. Our 6 year old granddaughter lives with us and we just started her first grade year.
I had a duffle bag that I carried my books to school with. Backpacks were for hiking. That was back in the 80s
Backpack 👍. We carried our books in our arms. I was always a nervous wreck first day of school. ❤️❤️
It is interesting that colds are a health threat for you too. When having asthma I dreaded colds because mucus was accumulating and would not dissolve
Backpack. And when I went we had lockers in HS but always carried our bags with us
Happy Fall to Y'all to and when you come back to NC bring some of that fall cooler weather with you.
I carry my backpack around with me the whole day. I could never get my locker to work, report the no working all the time and it was never fixes.
meant to say report the not working locker all the time and it never get fixed.
Send fall to south Louisiana please! It’s 98 with heat index of 108. So very ready for fall. Elementary had book sack and high school carried my books.Thankful for lockers then.
Book bags 😊 oh and I liked to smell new pack of crayons when first opened as well as new pencils lol
