What if the employee ID is like 000123 or 002617 (it is showing error). If the employee ID or any value should be 6 characters and only numeric values(including 0's in starting). What to do in this case. Please reply.

First select the cell go to number group or use (ctrl+1) than in numbers tab in format cells dialog box choose "number" then set the decimal to 0. Than click OK.
Another way to start a number with 0 in a cell is simply use a ' single quotation before 0 like this '001 then click enter. Cell can be seen with an error sign on the upper left click on that then click on ignore error. Now you can use 0 .
