Mikasa shot her grappling hook directly where she wanted to go (the neck) which allowed the female titan to know where the next attack was coming from because Annie could feel it. This would work on most titans because they’re mindless but not on a smart one. When Levi attacked he only used gas or grappled onto nearby trees so he gave no sensory indication of where he’d strike from next. Brilliant detail

The reason this scene works so well is that we'd only seen a small hint of Levi's prowess before this, and even the best soldiers fell easily to Annie. And up until this point in the series, nobody seemed able to completely overwhelm titans in combat.
This scene singlehandedly puts Levi on a tier above everyone else in the series. Then after building up the Beast Titan as the real threat, the actually most dangerous antagonist who killed Miche and Erwin and orchestrated the whole plan at the Shiganshina battle, the viewers doubts start to creep in and they wonder, “Wait, is Levi enough to beat this guy? I know he’s good but this is like the main antagonist of the whole series thus far, no way Levi can just-“ and then Levi completely massacres him. Because of course he would. Titans are not a threat to Levi ever, that’s just how it is, unless he’s injured, and even then he’s still more dangerous than most soldiers.

If annie switch her intent nothings gonna change if she's facing levi.

Levi absolutely despises titans as titans took the lives of the closest thing to a family he's ever had, and this titan has just decimated his entire crew as well. Yet he still had the inner strength to focus on the mission as a pure rescue mission and know not to push his luck.
Remember season 1. The fight to retrieve wall rose. Levi slicing his way through the Titans. Killing 30s of them with no effort. Everything about this scene is perfect, the music build up, the anticipation for Annie's attack, Levi's preparation and movements. Honestly had to be one of the best fight scenes of all time in anime.

Remember, Levi can only cut up her arm and roll across it like sonic the hedgehog because of his unique grip of the 3D manoeuvring gear. That proficiency/mastery with the backhanded grip in his right hand is what allows him to butcher titans. To be honest, I doubt anyone other than Mikasa can even attempt to learn and handle that form of 3D manoeuvring. Think about Levi's perspective when he is spinning around. The world must look like absolute bonkers as it just a blur, yet he still has the presence of mind to see where he is going, strike at the precise location, and not get fucked by incoming strikes, WTF! Like imagine trying to pinpoint everything perfectly when you are spinning around wildly on a merry-go-round at max speed, that's probably what the world looks like from Levi's perspective lmao. Levi was a tactical mastermind as well, other than an insanely good fighter. The fact he grapples to the trees so Annie has no idea where he is going to strike and the fact he leaves the blades in Annie's eyes to prevent her from healing is terrifyingly badass. @@gabriel_c902 In season 2 theres this big reveal about 2 titan shifters who are part of the survey core and their plan was to kidnap eren but it failed in S1 when annie almost got away with it but levi saved eren at the last moment. Similarly if levi wouldve been healthy in S2 the same thing wouldve happend because levi is OP. That is why the writters decided to keep levi off some actions so the team can do the heavy lifting that season.
Random fact of the day: at 0:44 the audience gets a brief shot of Levi after stabbing the female titan, with her blood running down his eyes and cheeks (from stabbing her). Movies/animes sometimes do this. Blood can/is used to symbolize death/murder/injury. Tears, of course, are a result of sadness, pain, or grief. By Levi "crying" tears of blood that brief shot effectively symbolizes his sadness/grief over the death of his comrades at the hands of the female titan. It's a nice touch tbh. You get to see a physical manifestation/symbol that shows some of Levi's underlying motivations. Update: The leftover "tears" are clearer at 2:00, and you can also see the blood dissolving, signifying that Levi has gotten closure for the deaths of his comrades.
Spoilers for S3 . . . So the same would be applied to the scene with the beast titan, he has "blood tears" from the pain of Erwin's death and they completely dissolve when he makes the choice to let him go...animation is beautiful.

yes but mikasa felt bad and she become obey him later in season 3 on July 2018 (based on the manga) and levi will surely do many awesome action scenes in season 3 (the uprising arc) ... one of actions i am looking forward to get animated: Levi is able to block bullets by using his blades and he swing a bigger guy to the floor by using his barehands.

I remember watching this for the first time. Seeing Annie absolutely annihilate all his comrades for a few eps and seeing the pain in his eyes. I thought he would be powerless against her as she seemed virtually unstoppable against their odm gear. And then just like that Levi unleashed
There's an OVA of Levi living his life with two other people just before they joined the Survey Corps. Some spoilers here if you haven't seen it yet (but can find on RUclips), but.... -------------------------------- Levi does go absolutely berserk on that abnormal titan that killed his two friends. He's even more savage than he was here, and cuts it up so much that aside from the slashes on its body, he decapitates it solely from just spinning back and forth on it. You could tell he was enraged and then nearly broke down in tears afterwards until Erwin stopped him. Levi no doubt felt saddened by the loss of his squad, but at least got the chance to take it out on Annie a little bit. Had Eren not of needed rescuing, it's likely Levi would've immediately knocked out the Female Titan and pulled Annie out of it here. Of course, it would've ruined the next few chapters/episodes where they had to capture her. And he was so badass they had to given him an injury so he didn't just one-man army through that event too.
That Ackerman awareness. Even when it looked like his ally’s slip up was gonna cost them he changed the tide of battle quickly with that forward dash. A true war chief
i started to watch AoT because i was curious of this character Levi of AoT often being mentioned among anime lovers and even compared to some main characters of famous anime series his action scenes can totally attract people to watch AoT 😆
Annie was a "warrior" chosen by Marley the opposing side of the Eldians (the 3 peoples inside the walls). They saw Reiner, bert. Annie, and Zeke as saviours and they had to carry out their mission of killing all the people inside the walls and extracting the coordinate a.k.a Eren, she failed to do so and if she returned to her homeland, a person of chosing would be get stung by a cetrain titan serum that will turn them into a mindless titan, they will lock annie in a position where she can't turn into a titan, the titan will eat Annie and become the next intelligent warrior.
Sure everyone can use their imagination, but it's just that, my reason is the real reason that was even written in the manga by the man that made this world and Annie's storyline. Sure she killed many people for nothing, but she was convinced by the false Marley's that the people of Eldia were "the blood of the devil". So she wouldn't feel bad either way.

I remember how I had no idea of how strong Levi actually was before this scene. We saw him take down a few titans during the fall of wall Rose, but that's it. This blew my mind. He didn't just win. He completely obliterated Annie, who's one of the strongest transforming titans.
Everything in this scene is just perfect, red reflections into Levi’s gaze, blade stance switch, Levi’s overwhelming power against Female Titan, battle experience, yet a certain awareness about his enemy, showing his true power, being able to witness his opponent and not denying a huge gap of pure power and brute strength. That is Captain Levi.
Levi has some amazing quick thinking and reflexes which goes to show here. 1. He knows that the female titan can regenerate her eyes, so he left his blades purposefully inside so they couldn't fully recover, blinding her indefinetly 2. He disabled her dominant arm's Ability to move excessively by cutting up it's musculature along the length, allowing her to merely use it to shield her neck's back temporarily. 3. He then disables her legs by cutting up her Hamstrings and Fibulas, incapacitating her ability to stand. 4. Then he gradually her other arm while continuously inflicting cuts on various areas against her so she cannot harden, and since she's blind, she cannot determine where he will attack from, so she can't pinpoint where she has to harden first, thus leaving her vulnerable in a state of confusion and I imagine slight shock. 5. He gradually chops down both arms to the point where she can't lift them, which however was halfway interrupted by Mikasa getting impatient, which lead to her left arm still being mobile enough to be lifted to shoulder-height. Had Mikasa not interrupted, i imagine Levi would of continued to chop her arms until they were completely useless before THEN going for the neck in a way she couldn't anticipate, probably distract her with cuts on the front to think he's still going for an onslaught then dramatically change his course and chop the neck instead.
I would like to also add that he is quite an expert too in applied physics (3DMG has lots of vertical and horizontal G-Force when used). To save momentum, he uses rotational attacks via reverse-gripping one of his swords. Also, this guy has really good ears too since he does not show any dizziness whatsoever when doing attacks that require sudden body rotation as a result of 3DMG usage. Though I disagree with one of your points when it comes to him going for the kill. He explicitly stated that saving Eren was the priority and nothing more. I guess that was a result of the Female Titan’s ability to harden making kills impossible. Truly, the Ackerman clan is a warrior race with one of the finest genes for combat; after all, that’s in their biology.

While that's sad, there were dozens of Scouts who will never get to see their families and loved ones. I feel some pity for Annie but honestly, what she's doing is really selfish. She believes that seeing her father is more important that hundreds of lives.

The first time my friend showed me this scene, I mocked him and laughed at him saying is it human bey blade or what, but when I started watching the anime, the same scene gave me goosebumps and never ever mocked anyone who talked about anime ever again TRUE STORY
What I love about AoT is that no one has broken abilities whats so ever here (aside from the founding). Even Levi, as strong as he looks he's still just an enhanced human and one pop will mean death. The same with the titan powers, all of them seems balanced and has some weakness. It's all about skill and experience on how they utilize their titan powers..
This is in my opinion the best Levi scene. Throughout the second half of the first season, Annie absolutely shreds the living hell out of so many scouts that so many people thought she was unbeatable. But then, once this scene came up and focused more on Levi, and the epic music, I knew shit was about to go down for the female titan. This shit put goosebumps on me faster than the speed of light, like holy shit it was like the holy grail blessed me, that's how damn epic this fight was.
Hard to believe, I saw him take out out like 30 15meter titans, beat a titan shifter, be ambushed by another 30 15meter titans while low of gas (while outside the wall) and killed his way all the way to the wall and still managed to chase off another titan shifter. He's a freaking monster!
Marko Es And Annie had already transformed once, been eaten, and been fighting in both human and titan form for hours. Zeek had just been hurling rocks. I do think that Levi mostly surprised him, as he was complacent and overconfident. Since he first entered the series, he has underestimated Humans' ability to fight Titans.

Remember, Levi can only cut up her arm and roll across it like sonic the hedgehog because of his unique grip of the 3D manoeuvring gear. That proficiency/mastery with the backhanded grip in his right hand is what allows him to butcher titans. To be honest, I doubt anyone other than Mikasa can even attempt to learn and handle that form of 3D manoeuvring. Think about Levi's perspective when he is spinning around. The world must look like absolute bonkers as it just a blur, yet he still has the presence of mind to see where he is going, strike at the precise location, and not get fucked by incoming strikes, WTF! Like imagine trying to pinpoint everything perfectly when you are spinning around wildly on a merry-go-round at max speed, that's probably what the world looks like from Levi's perspective lmao. Mad, Levi is indeed humanity's strongest soldier.

That is why the writters decided to keep levi off some actions so the team can do the heavy lifting that season.

Random fact of the day: at 0:44 the audience gets a brief shot of Levi after stabbing the female titan, with her blood running down his eyes and cheeks (from stabbing her). Movies/animes sometimes do this. Blood can/is used to symbolize death/murder/injury. Tears, of course, are a result of sadness, pain, or grief. By Levi "crying" tears of blood that brief shot effectively symbolizes his sadness/grief over the death of his comrades at the hands of the female titan. It's a nice touch tbh. You get to see a physical manifestation/symbol that shows some of Levi's underlying motivations.
Update: The leftover "tears" are clearer at 2:00, and you can also see the blood dissolving, signifying that Levi has gotten closure for the deaths of his comrades.

Levi does go absolutely berserk on that abnormal titan that killed his two friends. He's even more savage than he was here, and cuts it up so much that aside from the slashes on its body, he decapitates it solely from just spinning back and forth on it.
You could tell he was enraged and then nearly broke down in tears afterwards until Erwin stopped him. Levi no doubt felt saddened by the loss of his squad, but at least got the chance to take it out on Annie a little bit.
Had Eren not of needed rescuing, it's likely Levi would've immediately knocked out the Female Titan and pulled Annie out of it here. Of course, it would've ruined the next few chapters/episodes where they had to capture her. And he was so badass they had to given him an injury so he didn't just one-man army through that event too.

I remember how I had no idea of how strong Levi actually was before this scene. We saw him take down a few titans during the fall of wall Rose, but that's it. This blew my mind. He didn't just win. He completely obliterated Annie, who's one of the strongest transforming titans.
Everything in this scene is just perfect, red reflections into Levi’s gaze, blade stance switch, Levi’s overwhelming power against Female Titan, battle experience, yet a certain awareness about his enemy, showing his true power, being able to witness his opponent and not denying a huge gap of pure power and brute strength. That is Captain Levi.

Levi has some amazing quick thinking and reflexes which goes to show here.
1. He knows that the female titan can regenerate her eyes, so he left his blades purposefully inside so they couldn't fully recover, blinding her indefinetly
2. He disabled her dominant arm's Ability to move excessively by cutting up it's musculature along the length, allowing her to merely use it to shield her neck's back temporarily.
3. He then disables her legs by cutting up her Hamstrings and Fibulas, incapacitating her ability to stand.
4. Then he gradually her other arm while continuously inflicting cuts on various areas against her so she cannot harden, and since she's blind, she cannot determine where he will attack from, so she can't pinpoint where she has to harden first, thus leaving her vulnerable in a state of confusion and I imagine slight shock.
5. He gradually chops down both arms to the point where she can't lift them, which however was halfway interrupted by Mikasa getting impatient, which lead to her left arm still being mobile enough to be lifted to shoulder-height.
Had Mikasa not interrupted, i imagine Levi would of continued to chop her arms until they were completely useless before THEN going for the neck in a way she couldn't anticipate, probably distract her with cuts on the front to think he's still going for an onslaught then dramatically change his course and chop the neck instead.
I would like to also add that he is quite an expert too in applied physics (3DMG has lots of vertical and horizontal G-Force when used). To save momentum, he uses rotational attacks via reverse-gripping one of his swords. Also, this guy has really good ears too since he does not show any dizziness whatsoever when doing attacks that require sudden body rotation as a result of 3DMG usage.
Though I disagree with one of your points when it comes to him going for the kill. He explicitly stated that saving Eren was the priority and nothing more. I guess that was a result of the Female Titan’s ability to harden making kills impossible.
Truly, the Ackerman clan is a warrior race with one of the finest genes for combat; after all, that’s in their biology.

While that's sad, there were dozens of Scouts who will never get to see their families and loved ones. I feel some pity for Annie but honestly, what she's doing is really selfish. She believes that seeing her father is more important that hundreds of lives.

@@jadon7702 they lived oppression plus there parents sucked the only time they felt important is when they were fighting machines. She cried because she just wanted to go home and they only way they were going home is if they accomplished the mission no matter the cost. And they were there for years as kids almost.

What I love about AoT is that no one has broken abilities whats so ever here (aside from the founding). Even Levi, as strong as he looks he's still just an enhanced human and one pop will mean death. The same with the titan powers, all of them seems balanced and has some weakness. It's all about skill and experience on how they utilize their titan powers..
This is in my opinion the best Levi scene. Throughout the second half of the first season, Annie absolutely shreds the living hell out of so many scouts that so many people thought she was unbeatable. But then, once this scene came up and focused more on Levi, and the epic music, I knew shit was about to go down for the female titan. This shit put goosebumps on me faster than the speed of light, like holy shit it was like the holy grail blessed me, that's how damn epic this fight was.
Sorry, but this moment will pale in comparison when Levi takes on the Beast Titan!
