Not in a position to pick one up right now but it's one I will think about in the future for a solid travel camera. Certainly much simpler than a modular system and a lot smaller than large format!
Agreed. Unfortunately for me I think the focal length isn’t right. Something closer to 90mm I think would have me more satisfied. There were moments when I felt the mountains towered over me yet with this focal length I couldn’t really show this. Really nice and beautiful camera to use though.
@@chriscoxdp Yes it is tricky that the 90mm is the longer focal length! Even if there had been a 120mm version of this camera it would have made a difference but inevitably this was made for a more general purpose in mind. But I suppose that is both a strength and a weakness. You've no way to change lenses so you have to change your composition to something more interesting instead! Do you still own it?
I'm really glad you loved the video, unfortunately I had to sell the 690 - it didn't get enough action and cost a lot per frame so had to really be sure of the shot! Would really love to own one again one day when I have more money to spend on film - that or get a GFX 50. The Negatives are really something to behold.
Hello 👋 I never have newtons rings from filter always from wrong scanning process when film is not flat enough and distance from scanning glass. Very interesting 🤔 thanks for your video. Beautiful photo and colours 🔥🔥🔥
Hi really great video. Superb shots. I am new to film photography, any suggestions on light metering techniques? Which light meter did you use here? Enjoyed this video.
Well done! Very beautiful photos! I just got back from Norway where I spent 15 days in the Lofoten and Vesteralen. I should have watched your video before leaving. Because before leaving I was looking at the purchase of a FUJI GW690II, incredible isn't it? I left with my FUJIFILM GFX100S which gave me beautiful photos. But I remain convinced that the GW690II is a nice complement. What films did you use for this trip? Thank you in advance.
Hi Jean, glad you had a wonderful time in Lofoten and Vesteralen. Truly beautiful places so I am sure regardless of the gear you got some amazing pictures! Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to watch my video. As for the film, I used one 250D which I really liked and then I used a couple rolls of kodak gold. The gold was fine but I really liked the way Cinestill 250d came out with big prints. Unfortunately I ended up selling my GSW690ii for financial reasons but I hope once my situation changes I could pick up another. Until then I will be using a canon 7D but my heart is still with the big medium format cameras really. All the best, Chris
Do you have any tips on getting proper exposure of the northern lights on film? (What aperture were you shooting at, and how did you meter for length of exposure?)
So I tend to try and shoot as wide open as possible and as low iso I can while getting an exposure. You want to keep the shutter speed around 1/20 as I found any longer I start to get blurring of the stars
Very atmospheric. You have a great sense for what makes a good photo, cant wait to see what you produce next.
Some seriously unreal shots!
That is some absolutely stunning footage. Makes me want to visit Norway again
Great channel, thanks!
really beatiful video!

Great video I felt totally immersed in the atmosphere and location. I'm curious if you kept the 690!

@@chriscoxdp Hello Chris, thank you for responding so quickly. I wish you to find a GSW690 quickly. Thank you again.J-Marc

beautifully made video man, some of the photos are stunning, shame about the film though :(
It is what it is brother. Cheers for taking the time to watch it though, really means a lot. I hope it was at least a little entertaining.
Hiking.meh.
not the most extreme sport but still fun.
You really are commenting on all the Fuji GW690 videos 😅Is anyone of your work with the camera available to see online?
