I was just out thrifting, my local shops....I found a Tea Mug from the Antietam Gift Shop. It had a painting of the Bridge, men and countryside.... I brought it home. Upon invesitgation... I found it astonishing, that the Bridge was restored in 1966.... Marvelous Endeavor of Restoration. I found it a beguiling coincidence, that First Lady Jackie Kennedy, had acquired all of the largest remaining, at the same time....on offer, of Antiques....From ...A Burnside, owned home, River Road, Louisiana...Houmas House. I had always heard this WAS the Capital of our Nation at one time...Family, Legend. All of those Antiques. are still at our White House in The District of Columbia. Intriguing. Thank You.

Just when you believe nothing else can be said about The Maryland Campaign along comes Scott Hartwig. It's like looking at it with a fresh set of eyes. I love the books. I also deeply appreciate everything Chris Mackowski does that enriches my continuing education of the Civil War. Chris is like inviting an old friend into my home for a chat.

Excellent. It might be interesting for an episode comparing and contrasting Lee's retreats at Antietam and Gettysburg and the Union response.

What Harry Pfanz was to the Battle of Gettysburg Scott is to the Battle of Antietam. His series is THE definitive and detailed treatment of the war’s bloodiest day.

So, after Murfin, Sears, Harsch, Carmen, and Gottfried it sounds like I've got another eight pounds of reading in my future.

Grant and his men believed they were outnumbered 2 to 1 at Shiloh during and after the battle.
