I had the privilege of working with James for a few years. Such a depth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm! He gave me a personal tour of the Grey Room back in the day. Made me think very financially irresponsibly 🤑
I’d love to wörk for HK too, am in the midst of my engineering studies and can tell I have just that “out of the box” thinking with analytical skill as well (kind of chronically / can tell and have proof, too). Since I got my hunting license, I dream of a mr308/hk417 and customizing it into my perfect hunting rifle without loosing the hk look and feel (you know … this alert popping up in your brain, when you see a hk product and just know it is one).
It's true man. The two guns I wanted since I was a young boy, besides an M4 style rifle (duh), were the HK USP/USP Compact or the MP5. All my airsoft guns were based on HK, I had 3 different MP5 airsoft guns, I loved HK. And when I was an adult, I got tricked into buying a bunch of cheap handguns by people who don't know anything or were 'too broke' to afford HK (even though their handguns are all very affordable or the same price as competitor handguns. My VP9 was $450 and my USP Compact 9mm with LEM trigger, HK x Meprolight night sights, and FOUR magazines was only $950 before shipping + transfer fees. So I don't get where people are getting the idea that HK handguns are somehow ridiculously expensive or overpriced or something; probably just more mindless gossip and parroting like usual on the internet). So I got tricked by all these fools online telling me that HK handguns were overpriced andnot worth it compared to other handguns. So I wasted tons of money going from the cheapest stuff I could get, and not being satisfied, so I steadily kept moving up the list in terms of price and fame. So eventually I kept moving up the list of handguns I was interested in (CZ P-10F was the first, then a bunch of other stuff like Walther PDP, S&W Shield Plus, Glock 19, Glock 17, a 1911, Sig P320/Sig 365, etc.). And then I thought I finally had one that I was gonna be completely satisfied by: a CZ P-01, the Nato Serialized versions with the untuned, Non-Omega trigger ( the one that people consider 'worse' than the untuned Omega version, but better when it's tuned vs. a tuned omega trigger & untuned omega trigger). I thought that was finally gonna be the one, but it still had too many aspects that let me down. So eventually I said fck it and bought a USP Compact 9mm and it opened my eyes completely. Now i"m selling the rest of my guns and never looking back. I don't care if I end up 'losing' $1000 or $2000 or so on selling all these handguns I bought. Honestly it was just a big waste of like $3000-$4000. I just don't care about any of them anymore compared to my USP Compact. So now I'm gonna sell those other guns and buy an SP5 and a suppressor for it.
And he's got the right hair color. But we all know who the next Bond will be, these people love burning money and destroying franchises. Which serves to destroy their propaganda machines and only elevate the originals.
I shoot the G11 in 1990 when the Bundeswehr trails were terminated. The reason were the uncontrollable cookoffs. Meaning when the gun was hot and you chambered a round, you could count to three and it would fire! Even with the safety on. One other “dislike” by the Bundeswehr officers had was the fact that you could not place the ammo in your pocket for a while. It would break up.
Right, I love how on every video on the G11 this same claim shows up, when in reality, the German army had already accepted it as their service rifle, so claiming the trials were terminated is bullshit. THe gun didn't come to pass because reunification happened. It had ZERO to do with the gun. The rifle was already ready to be ordered. Somehow everybody that comments under a G11 video has supposedly shot this gun AND conveniently all parrot the same claim that the trials were terminated, when that is de-facto wrong.
@ Not correct and then the G36 came as the next standard rifle of the Bundeswehr. The Reunification and cutbacks had nothing to do with the dropping of the G11. It simply was not a safe rifle. Great concept. If it would have worked, other Military’s in the world would have picked it up in a heartbeat.
James is a national treasure, in the HK world, who should get the same notoriety in the entire firearms Industry. Beauty and brains = majestic combination 💯
James just verbally nailed the concept of the G11 program with ease - what a perfectly honed description for such a complex, multi-faceted undertaking. Oh and guys - this video is awesome just like your last few... All grand slams lately as far as your videos - nice work.
This H&K series is just fucking awesome!!! Please do more of these with other brands. Love the history of the brand and of course, the antics the both of you bring to each and every video!
James is a man of good tastes. Not just in firearms but also in chicken biscuits. Bojangles Cajun filet biscuits have nursed me through many hangovers.
I love James so much, man. He's one of my role models lmao. And he's also the one who woke me up to the truth that all the info I got from all the shills and brokies out there was completely wrong; all the people who told me not to get HK weapons and said things like, "Oh HK used to be good but all their guns now are just overpriced BS, the USP was good at the time but now it's unnecessary compared to other weapons today, and they're not worth the money and blah blah blah". So I ended up spending tons of money on other handguns and weapons trying to find what I would like, literally thousands of dollars, and then I decided to say 'fck it' and got a USP Compact 9mm, and I finally understood. That's now the best handgun I own and I'm selling the rest of my handguns lmao. It's literally no comparison, no contest. It's soooo much nicer to shoot, so soft and so easy. The grip shape is PERFECT and it loads any ammo I put in it with no problems whatsoever. And I have yet to have a single failure AT ALL of any kind in over 2000 rounds. Unlike my glock, which constantly has issues of some kind. Especially failures to feed
Oh, this one was worth the watch. Since I live about 100 miles from Columbus, I’m already scheming in my head how I can attend an armorers class. Wish I’d known you guys were on my end of the continent, I’d have bought you a chicken biscuit.
But where would the chicken biscuits be from? I'm thinking chick-fil-a - theirs is the best fast food one in my opinion. Dang, now I wish I still worked the overnight shift after all these thoughts... I would get chicken biscuits in the morning for dinner when I worked that shift!
I think it was because it was difficult/ expensive to make. I’ve carried them for many years but lately leave them at home because I practice more with other guns and I tend to carry what I’ve been shooting with mostly. My P7s usually only get 2 or 3 mags through them at the range. I’m thinking about getting a P7 clone from P7Pro to take to the range but I’m waiting for more reviews on the gun.
I can confirm as a PSG1 owner, it still out shoots most semi-auto's today, even some bolt guns. However it demands alot of maintenance to keep it that way. Still it is a great weapon system when taken care of. Great video. Glad the G11 was in it as well.
First off, loved the video. (As usual). James seems like a very cool dude that fits in with you two. Now. WHO is he? What was his first video with his background stuff that I can learn more about WHO he is. Seems like a very intelligent person. Also. That GMG is now my next years Christmas want. Lol. When you’re done with it Jake, I’ll pay the shipping for it to VA. 😂
HK used to be in my home town of Trussville, Alabama. Great people. 1st gun I bought at 21 in 97 was a USP tactical in .45 after one of their reps showed me one. A usp compact in .40 was next and 9mm right after. Definitely love them.
What a great episode. Also saw you guys were filming something at east valley tactical in Mesa, that's the gun shoo I always go to, I live like 2 miles away, looking forward to that
I was surprised the USP wasn’t one of the five weapons highlighted. For decades, my USP .45 ACP Tactical has been among my most esteemed hand guns and (imho) the USP-series innovations (recoil reduction system, incredible reliability, accuracy and durability, first polymer frame, manual of arms, barrel material and manufacturing, and so forth) clearly were trend-setters for the industry. For example, one frequently hears the claim that Glocks were the first polymer receiver handguns, however, the fact is H&K were.

I got to go into the grey room when it was still in Alexandria Va. I find it ironic that most the guns picked are discontinued. I wish they would bring back the P7m8. Shame it is not available anymore.
Firing the GMG past a mile is a bit annoying as you have to tilt the sights forward so far that you are just looking at the top cover. Lot of fun to use though.
@@kanagawakenji7 no its not, im saying MY personal top 5 HKs are different than this list, but if i was in the gray room and had to pick a list of most infamous HK builds, my list would include the psg-1, g11, p8, etc. Get it?
Familial connections aside, the Glock is like a VW Beetle: very simple, but very effective, very reliable, and basically unchanged for its entire production run to date… Whereas an H&K, be it a P7 (my main squeeze, always), Mark 23 (most tacticool bad-ass pistol EVER), USP (my first polymer darling), or a VP9 (my current carry choice), is more like a Porsche Carrera GT or 918 Spyder: over-engineered in typical Teutonic style. But both have well deserved reps, and both fulfill their respective roles in faultless fashion… So why so much hate for the Austrian plastic brick from James? I’ve owned at least a dozen, and there’s probably two or three within a 10 ft. radius of where I sit right now, and while I don’t revere them like my P7m13 or VP9s, they are still serious separators of souls from flesh; so, what’s the story Mr. Williamson? Too many blisters on your middle finger knuckle? Or the almost total absence of innovation or evolution? Or are they just too ugly for such a handsome fellow..?😏 Damn, I wish we had Bo Jangles here in AZ! I could go for one of those chicken biscuits right about now… Great upload as always from the Syndicate!
If you attend one of the armorer's classes on the road, do you still get the 40% discount towards an HK production firearm, or do you have to attend one of the classes in Columbus?
This is the guy that I usually think about when I talk about HK weapons with my friends. He definitely is the face of HK America.
I completely agree
100% he is and I think Jake and I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching. 👊🏼
Too bad he does not make guns people actually can get here in California.
This guy is the personification of the H&K social media vibe.
