I'm an INFP. Since being diagnosed with ADD my Te has improved quite a bit. The medication helps me to stay on task and complete things on time. For INFPs that need to study or write essays I'd suggest using the pomodoro technique. Basically you study at 25 mins intervals and then take a 5 min break to relax or have fun. It's been proven that after 25 mins of focused attention people's attention begins to diminish. Yesterday I set a goal to complete four pomodoro timers and I did it. Setting daily goals is important for INFPs because they need to be reminded of what needs to be done.
I also have ADHD. I got diagnosed last year and meds changed my life in many ways. I am able to get things done but still have some work to do on it so thanks for the tip.
Advices from the video: - Instead of giving yourself pressure to finish a project, allot time towards certain tasks - Determine how much time a task is worth and try to complete that task within your deadline -Check to see if you efforts are proportional to the objective reward - Try to increase your efficiency as time goes on,especially if you are doing a repetitive task -Break big tasks and long term goals into smaller components and actually measure to see that -Monitor the efficacy of the changes that feel right.Occasionally check in with objective standards (and do this a habit)
6:40 that was insanely profound. I’ve always felt so pathetic when compared to disciplined people. I’ve always blamed myself for not being able to get things done on time when others could to do those same things in their sleep. This video makes me feel so much better, and I’m no longer ashamed. Te can now be something I work on from a point of understanding instead of a point and desperation. Thank you for sharing this; it meant so much to me.
INFJ working so hard to overcome my Te-deficiency, which is a horrible horrible curse to have. The only way I've managed to circumvent my passive-aggressive lack of productivity is to channel the little Se I have into focusing on doing something now, on what I can do in the moment or just focusing on today, and today only. I swear this is the only "productivity hack" which has EVER worked, and not for lack of trying other things.
As an INFP, none of these are obvious or come naturally to me I relate so much to how you said we can go ages in the wrong direction because it feels good... soo true damnit.
(INFP) This is great, and really valuable to this Te inferior, at least, but the real trick, is "putting the Te hat on" in the first place - switching cognition to it. My Fi is like a tyrannical child in that, it'll let me Te things in video games or instant-gratification logic puzzles, but not, like, to budget properly or manage my time.
marcvesper logic puzzles omg yes I can do sudoku after sudoku and I love the instant results but I have no idea how to use logic in my actual life, it's all in games (INFP)
I marvel at the extent my Te inferior can optimize and go hardcore in video games. 😅 Which actually isn’t so bad. Getting to play with Te skills there (even Si with game grinding/farming) helped me develop those two in ways they can be used in some parts of life.
Oh My God the Te struggle is real. But I have a hard time taking ESTJs as example because everything in me reacts to them exactly like Harry Potter's Fi does to Umbridge's Te. People I usually look up to in their efficiency and vision tend to be ENFJ/ESFJ/ENFP (ENTJs are often cool but sometimes scary :o )
advice for infps to stop getting emotionally attached to things?i get very clingly really fast wether its with a person or a certain idea/value and im very insecure about it because i seem very intense to other people, haha
This is pretty good, even for non-INFP. As an INTP, I'm kinda supposed to be better at Te than you guys. The reality is that I really can't be arsed to do it half the time, as it's an unvalued function. Thus, I really think this could help me too I don't allocate time for stuff, or it's allocating time for it the night before it's due. I do measure tasks time/progress, a bit, but I do it with my impressions+general ideas, so no.mewsurement at all. It's innacurate as fuck. So on the time allocation stuff, I would further advise to do a legit estimate of what you would need, adding up the estimate task by task... Then to double it. Also, I think for both types, the problem kinda lies with Se too. We have no sense of urgency. No advice here, except that being aware of it kinda helps by itself.
Wow your first tip is literally SO GOOD! I didn’t know how to articulate this concept until you pointed it out. I didn’t realize that’s what I’ve been doing all the time when cramming. I am SUCH a perfectionist and I can take forever on 1 thing that makes it feel as though it’s impossible to plan or project my time since my time estimates will always be off, so I crammed my whole life and got by decently (and stressfully) somehow. Somehow in the last 24 hours before an exam my Te all of a sudden worked but I could not for the life of me replicate it outside of the cram session. Now that I graduated and am working a full time job, I am being FORCED to plan for work. So out of desperation I would break everything down into tiny tiny chunks and write them out beforehand like “open Microsoft word - 5 minutes” (lol just in case I got distracted while opening word) so I can give time estimates to my managers. Writing out each tiny task and allotting time to them really really help in getting things done and it also forced me to get out of the perfectionist mental zone for parts of the tasks that don’t really matter as much. Also you’re right that it’s better hearing from another Fi-dog than feom Te-dom! They tell me things that are too advanced I need the basics hahaha
Using logic in daily life and structuring our time isn't a strong suit for INFPs but the world we live in is ruled by folk that know how to structure their time well and implement logical plans to achieve long-term goals in their personal and business relationships. That's why we need to run a mental app in our heads to get stuff done and stop us from descending into a pity party when reality wallops us across the head. In terms of interpersonal relationships, I've found great benefit from running Albert Ellis' ABC Model Basically I run the ABC model like an app in my head when dealing with negative emotions. It's like having a little ENTJ in the corner of your mind. It can be summed up in the three musts that hold us back: i must do well; you must treat me well; my life must be easy. If your introverted feeling is dragging you into the depths of hell then being able to sum up a negative feeling into one of these three musts helps you to see the light quick and get back on track to get stuff done even when you're feeling blue. After all, we thrive when inspired so we need to get out from under negative emotions fast or our creative projects flounder. It's our pity parties that stop us finishing stuff more than anything else. Time management for an INFP is about tackling negative emotions not really about setting a goal chart etc. In terms of organising life more generally. It's a matter of keeping it simple stupid as we can't follow through on detailed plans because we're just too spontaneous. Go minimalist in terms of your house, your finances, relationships and interests you pursue. It's going to be easier to finish that novel or paint that picture if you don't have a lot of tidying up beforehand nor lots of personal commitments. If your finances are in order that gives you the opportunity to work less in a job you hate and generates large chunks of alone time to recharge and finish your creative projects. Time is more valuable to us than money, power or status, so get that sorted and you'll achieve a lot. I mean, I'm writing my 100th book right now and it's not because I've sat down and scheduled things, it's because I've simplified my life and minimised the distractions. I don't even own a TV now, either. Finally, as we INFPs tend to have jobs we hate but have them so we can pay our bills and spend a lot of time doing our creative stuff, it's probably a good idea to check out things like the F.I.R.E movement to see if financial independence is something you want to aim for because it would allow you to quit the job you hate to focus full-time on what you love. And you can live out your values and ideals to the fullest. I mean, while I now invest in the stock market, I don't do this merely to retire early but to set up my own scholarship fund to promote the values and principles of community education. Perhaps there's something like that for you to discover on the journey towards financial freedom. So, my fellow INFPs simply your life as far as you can, get your finances in order so you can quit the job you hate and live out your valuers and ideals, and then set yourself mini goals to measure your process on things like that novel you're writing or that health and fitness regime you want to do. In true INFP style, I would end this comment with a poem. But I suspect you will have had enough of me by now.
I'm a ENFP and I can totally relate. Te is really hard for me :T And, actually, see this made me realize that in fact I'm a ENFP (I was stuck between INFP and ENFP) and analyzing my situation the source of my struggle is much more the consistency than the M.O. How I should do something I already know. But put the effort to do the same routine every single day drains me a lot.
I can relate to having a lot of "tips" for myself, or even mantras, that I need to be reminded of often, since they don't come naturally to me. For example, my mind is so easily distracted, it's really like a child's mind in that sense, that I often need to literally utter the word "focus" if I want to actually accomplish a task.
I feel your pain!!! As an INFP 9w1 I can just drift endlessly on a sea of distractions... working on it... having to talk outloud to myself alot too.... Focus!!!! So frustrating :)
I love the infp development videos :) I find setting little goals really helpful to get me started and just do things, which is why I put 5-6 little To Dos on my to do list every day. Checking them off is also quite rewarding. :D I would like to add, that as far as I understood from a personality hacker podcast, Te would be the function that judges efficiency (please correct me if I am wrong I just started diving deeper into thinking functions). They had an example of noticing whether it made sense to use a 5% off coupon and travel to the other side of town or to just go to the shop that's a lot closer but doesn't have a discount. Seeing which actions would lead to a result in the most efficient way. I myself and my infp best friend are quite good at this. If we are given two options and have to decide quickly which would be the best and most efficient way we don't take much time to see it. The Te aspect that is harder is actually putting things into action. Partly due to not knowing where to start and honestly: lazyness and lack of self discipline ;)
INFP: Yes, difficulty putting things into action is low Te exacerbated by Se PoLR! Lucky, I'm not great at judging which option is more efficient when there are more factors involved (for example social factors).
When you said that it takes everyone a lot of willpower to use functions that they're not good at, because using them takes up a lot of our energy --- that's a really good point. I've never really thought about it that way. I happen to have really bad Se, and it takes me so much energy to get many physical tasks done, and I generally just assume that I'm weak-willed and lazy. (Maybe I still am, lol.)
A good thing of our "perfectionalism" is how we can't stand failures so that deadlines or potential bad outcomes gear me into action. Ive been preparing for my piano LTCL exam and have been panicking about failing or playing badly and wasting my 2 years (n 6 mths after uni graduation) this whole time. Hence ive printed monthly organisers and wrote tasks that I have achieved to find out what I need to work on and glance at what Ive achieved. Also love ticking off to-do boxes :) this has been helping me practice 3 hours a day (otherwise the guilt of an empty box) but I always have to remind myself that its fine if I cant finish ALL the tasks all the time. So what you were saying about using Fi to judge efficacy really works (whether i feel im on the right path or doing enough or not, etc) and its been working wonders for my morale on most days
Also, setting aside blocks of time instead of constantly stressing on the specific tasks to accomplish helps me to just be in that place to work on the finer details. I dont always know what Im going to be working on or ironing out that day but when i set my butt down, i start to work on parts of the music i feel can be improved. It may not be the most organised way to do something but we are big picture thinkers. We work on many small parts and piece them together to form a collective whole, so when ive done something i look at the next section or intersection and say "im not happy with that (Fi) lets work on it too" and i start with more enthusiasm. So what u said about having TOO MANY tasks put us off because its daunting is so true! I always have ONE main goal which is to approach the piano and play and the rest comes to me inevitably..:)
I'm like 2 years late but I just stumbled upon this video and it's the first of yours I watched and I just wanted to tell you this is the most helpful INFP advice I've ever came across on youtube, also you're super cute and in the coming days I'm going to watch your other videos so thank you very much!
(INFP) Well done on making this video! I just started my self improvement journey and it is so exciting to see other people like me after spending my whole life thinking I'm a weirdo (who cant even get anything done 🤣). Very helpful tips. Also you're very pretty. Love from South Africa.
My Te just shows itself as really immature. I become super stubborn and won't listen to anyone but myself. Totally unable to rethink and evaluate my decision or taking it back. Its like what you described with Daenerys in the Game of Thrones video.
INFP: Interesting! My Te grip usually manifests as me insisting and genuinely believing that I'll achieve some outlandish thing, even though I haven't planned how I'll actually achieve it.
So brave of you to to this! And I liked it how you were comparing types to infp to make people understand better. I know I'm late to comment but yeah. (Love infp :) )
My dad is a very intellectual ENFP, and my mom is an ISFJ. So I always had good Te and Si examples, though as I grew up I started to see through my dad's Te, haha.
These points are SO HELPFUL - and obvious, and things I have clearly done in the past to get things done. But this weekend completely forgot how to use my Te and literally ended up getting nothing done for a huge task. 😐
6:19 Strongly relate to this thought that if I don't develop my Te I'm never going to be able to be successful. You said that's not necessarily the case, but can you explain how INFP can become successful without well-developed Te? I see it as the necessary missing link between all the ideas (Ne) + ideals (Fi) and reality. EDIT: lol woops you did address it. I would still love to learn more about how exactly we can use Ne + Si in place of Te. Thanks for this video - a lot of what you said was right on the nose for me, especially associating Te with strong willpower.
@M Muss "Your mom may have shaped you but you are you," is a nice line. I've recently realized some terrible themes in my family and how it has messed me up--but I'm me, dammit! I'll rise from the flames! (My ignored and mocked Fi Ne reemerging to give me hope in a static, negative world--I have a very ST family, who have low emotional intelligence, and are emotionally abusive [their parents were like that too].) @PickNicole Apparently Type 4s are shaped by being emotionally ignored and trying harder to get noticed, so to me it makes a lot of sense to have been influenced by a narcissistic parent.
I struggle with working fast at my job and sometimes if it takes me a while its because i want it done right. My job is requirer no more than 15 minutes an area. Are you ever hard on yourself when do don't get something right?
Charles Benson - Man, I'm the same as you on jobs I couldn't care less, I just HAVE to make everything a piece of art. boss is like "wtf is he doing all day working on that shit". INFP here btw.
Sorry for spamming you, lets see, as for helping with Te, i would say when working in teams one way to help your te is to figure out what your good at and how that naturally blends with everyone else and what their good at. Of course this is subjective, and would need practice through the task itself. This is very vague of me but will make sense if you ever get in the situation. Say your writing a story with someone else, and you know you are good at creating worlds and characters however you have trouble with technicalities like grammar (this is probably a terrible example because i make it sound like the other person is your editor darn it xD) and finding a realistic solution or expressing outwardly the intensity of the situation of the scene that you feel is intense. But the other person is great at technicalities and writing dramatic scenes but needs help with the idea of it? (And once again i realized i didn't actually give any advice but this still could be helpful through a persons personal subjective view ._.)
I find that my Ni comes out in my dreams when I'm sleeping, meaning I occasionally have psychic dreams, but I'm basically never psychic in my waking hours (and I'm pretty positive I'm INFP). So my recommendation to you would be to maybe keep a dream journal or at least take a few minutes right after you wake up every morning to remember what you just dreamt. Also, I find that the less 'worried' I am about stuff, the more my Ni comes out or the better my Ni works. It seems whenever I'm worried, or over-thinking, over-analyzing, or having "what if thoughts" in a negative way, or basically any time I'm having any strong negative emotions, it prevents me from having more Ni moments and more Ni dreams in my sleep.
You can but it won't be natural or productive because it's not one of your natural cognitive functions, you can develop Ne though. Fi-Ne-Si-Te are the natural INFP cognitive functions.
Hello pretty Calypso! All what I heard here.... gosh, it seems like a huge mess in your mind when it is to expose things. No pun here... it's just the impression I get from this. Ah well, if you have issues with achieving goals... and it's nice you know where your weaknesses are.... Put it down on paper.... I use a pretty common tool in my work, the Deming wheel. Plan: write down what you need to achieve and what are the steps to complete (it's 50% of the job!). Put a schedule on each step (no need to be perfect, you'll correct them on the fly). Do: do all the task you planned, one after the other. Check: Check what you achieved, what is done, what needs more time and work. Act : rewiew your schedule and tasks (you can add some if you find you missed something out). If completed, you close it and jump on the next (stick with that, if it's completed, don't come back to it in case you can improve something) Circle all the process again..... the main thing is to keep a physical working plan (if you keep it in your head.... you'll fail somewhere.. it's inevitable) you can rely on and keep you on the track.
I do think it's Te related the way i do research on topics i care about a lot.So i can make the best use of my money and thus save some by making fewer bad purchases. I naturally try to make the most of everything, like how i use my time better by cooking batches of food or trying to do two things at once, that kinda thing.
I wish you guys would explain what these Ni, Te, Si etc things meant haha. I missed the video or videos where you actually explain it, so I have no idea what it means. At least put it in the description. Please!
Actually, i think you clarified something for me i thought organization was more to do with si and i am generally not a good organizer xD yet my sister is still good at this when it comes to class, now i think that is because of her te not si. Si does have something to do with organization but its not necessarily efficiency like te. Both together equals fairly good efficiency and organization skills to get the task done. Actually i was hoping you could clarify something else for me? Sometimes i just have a feeling to do a certain thing, i wont know why and i'll do it to discover that i would of needed to have done it not realizing this, however i believe from the outside world this would appear like te.. actually, let me rephrase where i'm going with this xD. One time my friend was writing a story and they asked for the opinion of if they should write it long or halfen it, so being someone who reads alot what i believed was my fi felt that half would be better because i knew how i would feel reading it. That situation felt to have a tinge of fi and te, i don't know where i'm going with this ;-;.. um, would you say your fi works like that sometimes? Or is this some other function. *goes into a dark corner not even sure what i'm talking about*
Hi, ladies! I just found your channel because my friend recommended it to me saying you typed her based on microexpression. I was wondering if you could do the same analysis on me? :)
Oh my God I'm frustrated with the people who don't naturally have Te in their stack trying to develop Te. Or INFPs trying to develop others too, check your stack and see their actual value instead of trying to develop something that'll be of no use.

I can come of as very bombastic and delusional.
INFP: Interesting! My Te grip usually manifests as me insisting and genuinely believing that I'll achieve some outlandish thing, even though I haven't planned how I'll actually achieve it.
Oh yea, I can totally relate. I think I come of as very ESTJ-ish to some people, especially my family, except I am unorganized and my room is a mess.
This was very practical, down-to-earth, and relatable. Thank you. :)
Oh my gosh💕💕 thank u sooo much for this!👍✨✨✨✨
So brave of you to to this! And I liked it how you were comparing types to infp to make people understand better. I know I'm late to comment but yeah. (Love infp :) )
I really like this video (i’m an INFP also)
Keep up the awesome content 😌
My dad is a very intellectual ENFP, and my mom is an ISFJ. So I always had good Te and Si examples, though as I grew up I started to see through my dad's Te, haha.
These points are SO HELPFUL - and obvious, and things I have clearly done in the past to get things done. But this weekend completely forgot how to use my Te and literally ended up getting nothing done for a huge task. 😐
This video is gold.
You're so awesome!! Love your guys' videos!
I too am a INFP, enneagram type 4, and had a narcissistic parent (my mom)
I wonder if there is a connection?
@M Muss "Your mom may have shaped you but you are you," is a nice line. I've recently realized some terrible themes in my family and how it has messed me up--but I'm me, dammit! I'll rise from the flames! (My ignored and mocked Fi Ne reemerging to give me hope in a static, negative world--I have a very ST family, who have low emotional intelligence, and are emotionally abusive [their parents were like that too].)
@PickNicole Apparently Type 4s are shaped by being emotionally ignored and trying harder to get noticed, so to me it makes a lot of sense to have been influenced by a narcissistic parent.
Omg I’m the exact same!!!!!!
Oh and video idea: how you engage Ne more (especially at home)
I struggle with working fast at my job and sometimes if it takes me a while its because i want it done right. My job is requirer no more than 15 minutes an area. Are you ever hard on yourself when do don't get something right?
INFP: Whenever I make something, my inclination is to try to make it as good as I can possibly make it, even when I don't really care about the thing.
INTJ & INFP Coffee same im a perfectionist even on jobs I hate
Yes.
Charles Benson - Man, I'm the same as you on jobs I couldn't care less, I just HAVE to make everything a piece of art. boss is like "wtf is he doing all day working on that shit". INFP here btw.
can you do a video on Si as well. I suck at both Si and Te
INFP: Yes, I plan to make that next :)
She said in the video that Si was gong to be her next video.
Wow you seem to be on all mbti vídeos! Sorry if bad english. Infp 9w1 here.
Can anyone link to the Developing Si video? I see one for Te, Ne, and Se, but not Si. 🤔 Would love to learn it and share it with other INFPs.
Very helpful. XD will do. Thanks
thanks it helps a lot👍
I want to develop Ni as an Infp.
Uniquely Heather Holly Funny you mention dream journals, because I've been working on my dream recall( and it's doing great).
If completed, you close it and jump on the next (stick with that, if it's completed, don't come back to it in case you can improve something)
Circle all the process again.....
the main thing is to keep a physical working plan (if you keep it in your head.... you'll fail somewhere.. it's inevitable) you can rely on and keep you on the track.
INFP: Thanks for your thorough tips! I feel like I need tips to help me apply your tips xD
INTJ & INFP Coffee ...exactly what I was feeling!
I do think it's Te related the way i do research on topics i care about a lot.So i can make the best use of my money and thus save some by making fewer bad purchases. I naturally try to make the most of everything, like how i use my time better by cooking batches of food or trying to do two things at once, that kinda thing.
Really helpful!!!
This make so much sense, thank you 😭✨
I wish you guys would explain what these Ni, Te, Si etc things meant haha. I missed the video or videos where you actually explain it, so I have no idea what it means. At least put it in the description. Please!

INTJ & INFP Coffee thanks so much! It's funny cause my best friend and I are INTJ and INFP respectively haha.
Im an ENTP and i want to have Te:( I wish, my NeTi make me crazy
*goes into a dark corner not even sure what i'm talking about*
I thought I had bad Te until I watched episode 2 of breaking bad
Hi, ladies! I just found your channel because my friend recommended it to me saying you typed her based on microexpression. I was wondering if you could do the same analysis on me? :)
INFP: Hi :) For typing packages, visit cafembti.wordpress.com/. For information on volunteering, email us at INcoffeetime@gmail.com.
EXCELLENT
awww your not a disapointment don't worry :)
Can you guys do how to develop SE
I just need an ENTJ doing the things i want xD
LOL i feel u
Oh my God I'm frustrated with the people who don't naturally have Te in their stack trying to develop Te. Or INFPs trying to develop others too, check your stack and see their actual value instead of trying to develop something that'll be of no use.
I kinda think your very attractive lol
